Can we take a minute to recognize how messed up these placements have been?
I don't mind losing most of my placement games because people were d/cing. I shouldn't of played so early in the season.
The thing that bothers me is landing in bronze 1, and seeing my team mates vary so greatly in skill. An absolutely crazy amount. And it's not like Riot doesn't have the past data to place these people where they belong quicker.
If I want to play right now, I have to hope I get the more smurfs that got screwed in placements than the other team. Period. No questions asked. People down here that actually belong here make you scratch your head every 2 minutes wondering wtf they were doing. The people who don't belong here do absolutely crazy 1v4 2v5 scenarios that leave you wondering how pissed the other team is afterwards.
I could write an example of each of the games in my history where we clearly had the better people, or they had the better people, or whatever you'd want. But I don't have to go any further back than my very last game. It was a quad queue + me vs the other team, I have no idea if they were a quad queue too or not. What I do know is 2 of the players on my team were plat last season, and the season before (at a minimum).
It came down to 2 plats, 2 low bronzies (the support they had with me was AFK randomly throughout the game, was doing terrible engages. The other bronze they had was AFK farming literally all game and had less than 20% kill participation as illaoi.) and me. We were against 2 silvers and 3 bronzies. I basically could've AFK'd and let the two plats just win, they 2v5'd multiple times and won hands down. And it wasn't like they were 2v5ing without us trying to get there; it just happened so quick that no one on our team could get there.
So what rank are these plats? Silver 3 and Silver 4. So they're queuing up with their low-skill friends now and bringing them up to a level they don't belong at, and why? Because they got placed in low silver.
That's crazy riot. I've been through 6 season starts now and I've never seen it this bad. Maybe it's because people are 3-4-5man queuing, but I wouldn't even blame the crazy match making on that. I entirely blame where people got placed. How did the system work with ELO, (1200*ur elo)/2? So a 1700 who went 5-5 in placements ended high silver low gold? How are these dudes getting dropped off in low silver high bronze? Even if it made sense for them to get dropped off there, like let's imagine a scenario where you get 50 elo per game and you only went 1-9 in your placements, why is such a LARGE number of these players down there?
