He is a fuckin broken champ. His base damage is VERY high. He has a true damage option. He even outscales OP champions.
You build armor, he builds armor, you do no damage to him, he does damage to you. His health regen is so high. I used to main garen and beat teemos with garen. He is absurd.

his base health regen is on the lower end of the champion pool.
if youre talking about his passive, its not worth much until lvl 11. at least not against ranged champions. his true damage is a non factor during the lane phase, unless his opponent roams a lot and picks up kills in other lanes.
garen actually needs buffs right now. the last couple of patches hit him hard.

objecitively he does. since the last couple patches he has a 4% pickrate and below 50% winrate. he was fine before the whole mage update. im not 100% sure on what exactly nerfed him so hard (my guess is the boot enchant removal coupled with repeated swifties nerfs), but hes nowhere near good right now.
voli outscales him aswell. the bear is actually pretty damn strong and they nerfed his jungling on the pbe.
iisabrina1 votesI hope they do not nerf voli. There are several champs out there who can directly kill voli in a 1 v 1 mele with him, yi, trundle, xin zhao, jax, maybe shyvana, probably warwick. When I am voli and I am forced to duel with these champs (Except yi, he is really tough to deal with late game 1 on 1), I have to kite kill them. I E, then move away some more, E, move away some more, slowly wearing their health down. Then I just ult and bite to finish the kill.
unfortunately with yi I cant do this.
Anyway, back to my point, for lower elos, you NEED voli, to help you out. His ganking power is great, and he is able to shut down games early. I was a really good Jax player, (and jax is honestly more powerful than voli 1 on 1), but I found it difficult to carry a team of 4 idiots and just me. Why? because all the adc or anyone else needs to do is flash once away from jax or get out of his Q range and kill him. There are lots of ways to kill jax.
Jax will stun someone, but then they can just walk away. Volis ability to speed up throw over the shoulder, then slow them down, attack, and bite, is decent.
There needs to be some OP champions, and Ill agree voli is slightly OP (his damage against tanks is pathetic though, compared to garen), to help people who dont deserve to be in bronze to carry themselves out.
Im Gold and climbing, and my friend is diamond and climbing. We smurf and play games with bronzies, and it easy to carry some of those fools.

Scary Door3 votesIf you're dumb enough to try and face-tank a Garen and not just kite him around then you're not even worthy of being Bronze.
Garen is a terrible champion in high Elos because they actually know how to kite. Garen has no gap closer outside of a small speed boost on his q. He has a shield which mitigates damage for a short window on a long cooldown and an easily avoidable spin that does moderate damage if you stand in the entire thing.
His ult is okay and the villain mechanic is nice, but if he doesn't have flash, he can't get close enough to you to utilize it in most realistic situations.
Garen is strong is Bronze, so is Akali, so is Master Yi. In Diamond all of those champions are terrible, slightly above terrible and worthless, respectively.

Kiting only works when someone is kill hungry, and garen can just let someone cc the person, and then rip massive damage. His E does quite a bit of damage and when combined with a good amount of movement speed he can hurt pretty badly . Why chase someone as garen for 300 or less gold when he can just E an entire minion wave and probably rack up 200-300 gold.
No I avoid face tanking a garen, and thats how I killed him quite a few times, however, Garen can still hit someone under their turret, E, and do quite a bit of damage to the person, and take superiorly limited damage with his W active.

When did I say I started playing in 2014.
When was the last time you saw Master Yi or Garen in pro play? When was the last time you even saw them played with any consistency in Challenger or Master tier?
Never said I was "hot shit", but if you lose lane to a Garen as anything other than a weird off-meta pick like Lulu top (which isn't even insanely off-meta) or Bard top then, yes, you are pretty terrible at this game, period.
iisabrina1 votesJust because someone doesnt play Garen or Master yi in pro games doesnt mean they arent viable. The new Yi buff on his ult is a bit bad, but he is still just as viable. I have seen diamond players use yi, and once yi gets a merculais scepter, he is extremely useful.
Garen is a relatively strong top laner, and has really strong farm potential.

This seems like a troll thread... but I will respond as if it weren't; Garen is not broken, overpowered or even strong. He is pretty well balanced as he is the quintessential "Ball of stats" champ in the vein of Yi and Shyvana, except more so.
He has so much counter play that it is ridiculous... he is second only to 
in how easily he gets countered.... his only decent trump card is the villain mechanic and even then, that's not very impressive (Who let's Garen reach the ADC anyway?)

you sound like you have no idea what youre talking about. youre either actually level 10, and this isnt a smurph account, or youre sitting in bronze 5.
and trying to discuss champion balance with someone in b5 or who just started playing is kinda futile.

And I have a pretty good win rate, strong stats, so you should probably stop trolling the forums (I post on another account and youre still sitting at level 10 here, showing me you probably got banned on the forums). I got placed in gold IV because of two DC's during my game, an afk, and my mouse dying in two games, so I lost those unfortunately. But I carried the others, and I was fighting against plats and golds.
Now when you actually learn how to play league come talk to me.
