Revert Aurelion Sol.

Aurelion Sol's mini rework was a complete and utter FAILURE.

Here's why.

what did Sol's rework try and achieve?

-Make him more accesible for newer players - make him less of a one trick champion -Reduce his perma shove and roam playstyle - make him into a laner with more counterplay

The update did neither of these things.

They didn't make him easier for new players. The new W is far more clunky than the old W ever was, and the main complaint from new players is still that it's too difficult to CS with Sol, and that he feels weird to play. That is ALWAYS going to be a complaint with his star mechanic. You CANNOT fix that without giving him a complete rework, complete different identity, and scrap the star mechanic, so basically you completely take away everything that makes him Aurelion Sol.

Actually, Sol is even MORE of a one-trick champ now. His play rate decreased post-rework, because a very large portion of aSol mains completely quit the champion (and some, the game) because the rework was so horrible. Some, like Quantum Fizzics, were high profile and high elo.

They reduced Sol's perma shove and roam playstyle early. Once he gets points in his W, it's exactly the same as before, except maybe even faster because his stars spin faster. He still pushes waves quickly and actually since his E range got massively buffed his roams are even stronger. They also buffed his E-Q combo - the star now keeps up with Sol if he is faster than it and the stun duration scales with distance travelled. So his roams are even stronger now with a potential 2.9 second stun.

As for counterplay? They took away nearly EVERY ASPECT OF SOL'S COUNTERPLAY.

What was the counterplay to old Sol? Hard CC. Getting inside of his orbit - where without Flash, Exhaust, Q or ult, he cant get you out. Smartly warding and pinging his roams - Sol suffered with the introduction of plating since he doesn't want to lane. Picking high damage, high mobility champs like Yasuo, Fizz, Master Yi, etc etc, or people with long range hard CC threats that can cancel out his damage like Malphite. You had to play smart with Sol, especially in teamfights when hard CC can fuck you by setting your W on cooldown. Sol became even harder to play post-lanephase since his range was relatively short compared to other mages.

Plus he suffered with mana problems, especially if he was skipping RoA.

What is the counterplay to new Sol?

..Err, punish him early? Err, wait for him to use his W that is on a 1.4 second cooldown before long?

His stars aren't cancelled by CC anymore. So the only way to shut his damage is get inside his orbit, which is made very difficult when Sol can just turn off his W, use the 40% ms to reposition, then immediately reactivate it, or wait for his W to turn itself off, again is worthless when it's cooldown becomes very, very short.

All in all Sol's rework was a complete and utter failure, it completely failed to deliver on ANY of its goals. They only succeeded in reducing his early game, and completely getting rid of ALL his counterplay. Oh, and causing his mains to quit the game.

I guess it's galaxy brain time, Riot - if all the Sol mains quit because you completely fucking decimated the most fun and unique champion in the game, then they won't ask for more skins. Big brain. We don't want fun and unique champions in this game, we just want more burst mages.

Well if anything gud came out of this it makes him stronger as a jungler bc u dont have to maximize W on jg camps as much. With the reduced time, increased damage and increased star rotation, its easier to get the full W dmg on camps now and then just moving to kite the camp and do it again in the opposite direction.

People just need to spread more tips on him. Its not harder to cs with Sol than anyone else its just harder to maximize his CS when ur new to him. But if u go on the SIDE of the line of minions with W rather than the front u hit more at the same time. Also his Stars execute minions at 25 hp, so just move to hit low hp minions to insta kill. You can also sometimes just stand in a wave a zone enemies away, so u get cs and they don't. Once u kno these tips and realize u have to play him differently he starts to open up.

I will agree that they didn't deliver on any of the goals of the mini update, so i don't like laning with him as much bc he's still not tanky enough for his lower and persistent dmg. But i will say i prefer this new Aurelion Sol in the jg bc taking camps and ganks r much better
