Champion.gg - Gragas Jungle Stats, Builds, Runes, Masteries and Counters

So, what are your current thoughts in gragas's state in the game.

according to plat+ statistics he seems to suffer a lot in the jungle and has one of the lowest winrates as far as the jungle goes, having a overall winrate of 45.35%

While his avg. games per player is overall low, his overall pickrate is on the lower side of the spectrum, leaving me to think that many might pick him up once or twice, then discard him because of lack of results. which might, again, indicate that if he isnt weak currently, he certainly feels so.

many of his statistics are also on the worse end of the spectrum, with the only thing he shines in being least deaths, most assists, and most damage taken.

He also did extremely poorly at worlds. He lost more than half his games. Tank Gragas is garbage. Give us AP Gragas back please. He was never broken in the first place.

He kinda was though. That's why they had to nerf his Q damage against minions. Gragas basically had the option of skipping the laning phase before that nerf. If he wanted to fight you, he would, but if he had an unfavorable matchup, he could avoid all interaction with his laning opponent. That's why he was broken.

I'm definitely not against AP Gragas coming back, but they need to still keep his Q in check if they are going to do this. Tank Gragas still kinda works but I feel you have to play him more as a fighter than a pure tank and build at least 1 offensive item on him to make him work. Item changes are likely to buff him more than actual changes as Frozen Heart and Righteous Glory were core items on him before they were nerfed and now he's left with subpar items on his tank build.

As for his AP itemization, it is in a perfect state for Gragas (besides Deathcap price). Gragas' 2 core AP items are Abyssal and Lichbane, which were some of the only AP items that were buffed in the preseason. He does fall off come lategame if he doesn't get a Deathcap which is a problem, but I think the change to Doran's Ring along with Abyssal and Lichbane favoring him right now, he only needs a small buff to become a god-tier solo laner.

I recently took up playing Gragas as a full tank on lane with not a single AP. The results were good, so I'd say tank Gragas is actually pretty strong both in the jungle and lane if played right. Sunfire Cape helps ignoring the reduced damage to minions. Despite that, he still falls behind in cs.

If someone wants to play AP Gragas I recommend to try it as support. It's surprisingly powerful and you don't have to care about farming.

Sadly, posts about Gragas aren't popular or getting much attention at all. Seems like this champion is getting ignored.

I mained ap gragas so hard back in season 3 and 4, the fact that it was reworked really left me sad and I actually quit the game for over 5 months. I would totally agree with seeing him be returned to ap, but in order to do this he would have to lose his massive amounts of cc. I am actually on the page of just having his q reworked back to it's original balanced state.

Frankly, Rito buffing him would just end up with him dominating the jungle in the competitive scene again.

The problem with that is, if a champion is BLATANTLY doing terrible in it's current state but buffing it is nearly impossible due to the competitive scene, the champion should just be reworked.
