Canceling TB and Dominion and Solo Queue were all tactics to funnel more people into "Dynamic Queue" so Riot could fudge the numbers and then say, "Hey look! We have record breaking queues, matches and a faster paced game. This was a total success!" But when anything becomes "fast" it also loses "quality." Which is why the game is in the shitter atm imo.
I played TB exclusively. Didn't care that I've been Silver for 4 seasons and wasn't honestly interested in ranked. I gave up on that in S4. I played TB because it was hella relaxed, hella fun and it was always a good fun game no matter what kind of weird shit people would try.
Now, I play SMITE, it's different, it's fun (imo anyways) and the toxicity is for sure almost non-exisistant compared to League. I keep up with the League boards, just to maybe see a glimmer of hope of a time lost. I seriously doubt it will ever be a "great" game again. They've lost touch with the community and honestly their egos have blown way out of proportion.
It was a hella good 5 years for me personally playing League. I've queued up a few times only to get half way through it and just change my mind.
Riot puts me in mind of another game company Mythic Entertainment. They had the best RvR game out, Dark Age of Camelot, but instead of focusing on their selling point (RvR, Realm vs Realm) they focused all their efforts in trying to compete with WoW PvE. When DAoC started putting all their focus into PvE (which they horribly sucked at and failed miserably) their RvR became mundane and flat and people just left the game like a ghost town. If Riot isn't careful, they will repeat exactly what Mythic did long ago.
It's a shame really. Companies just never seem to learn anything. Sure, you can do a shitty job for cheap, but eventually, people will start paying more for a better quality job.
