Season 9: get rid of promos

How many times have to logged in, played ranked and had a horrible team, just to discover you had gotten in to promos the day before and forgot about it. These are my most common experiences in promos:

"oh, that explains why I didn't have any fun in that game"

"we should of won that game just on comp, wtf happened"

"Are these guys really the same elo as me?"

^^^let's get rid of the worst part of ranked^^^

Imagine your first game of your P1 promos and you get this ADC and jungle.

Then you're told you're suppose to carry harder.

Why remove promos? I don't wanna start at bronze EVERY SEASON, I at least wanna be silver so I can at least get a nice border

Should just use the same system as Master to Challenger

I was on like a 5 win streak of 18 to 20 LP gain, finally got to promos.

First game i get a diana who afk and logs in late against talon and feeds. 2nd game i get an AP miss fortune first time support who steals our jungler's camp and my farm.

Then ofc after i lose the promo im down to 60 LP so i need a 3 win streak just to try it ALL again.

I think keep promos when you go to a higher division, like gold to plat, but only require one game to get from silver 3 to 2 once you get to 100 LP. Would be better in my opinion.

yes

the main thing that pisses me off about promos, is that the games you win dont count towards your rank progress, while the games you lose do.

like you win 2/3 games or 3/5 games and not only do you get placed from 100 lp to 0 lp without any progress into the next division. but also the game that gets you INTO promos also gets the lp cut off because you cant progress past 100 lp. if youre at 95 lp and that game should have gained you 20 lp, you only gain 5.

BUT if you happen to lose promos, those games suddenly DO count towards your lp and you get placed back at 75 lp in your previous division.

it feels like a fucking scam.

one of the weirdest parts of this game is, that your mmr can be one entire league above or below your current rank. youre matched with and against people an entire league above your own. the system expects you to hold your own in that game. but for some reason that doesnt mean youre gaining the rank youre effectively playing at.

Please realize that without Promo games League will be reverted back to its elo system, which is a lot more luck based This will remove the demotion and promotion barrier, allowing you to climb ranks easier if you win, but also drop ranks a LOT faster if you get unlucky with teammates So this means that playing at the end of the season is super risky, because you could just go on a random losing streak and drop multiple ranks

Trust me, the promo system is better

They'd have to get rid of demotion protection then.

Well, just remember that if you remove promos then you also need to get rid of promotion safety net. As in as soon as you promote you can demote on next game

It is 2 games for a division and 3 wins for a rank. What is so hard about that? it is just seeing if you have AT LEAST a 50% winrate within several games.

When introduced, they pitched them as a system to let regular players experience the thrill and excitement pros go through when they play Bo3 and Bo5... except pros are playing with their team. Everyone has the same goals, have been playing together for months and understand each other. That doesn't translate well into Solo Queue at all. I've never been a fan of Promos.

Yeah you get someone on your team that's one whole rank below you (You're p3 and a teammate is g3). I blame Riot.
