What if Varus Ultimate...

What if Varus ultimate was so corrupted that when cleansed it'd free the target but its follow up targets got instant rooted. It might seem odd to punish removing the CC but it might create interesting situations...

Varus is a fairly good laner, but later in the game he is quite vulnerable to dying and he doesn't have the kind of steroids other ADCs do. With this Varus may be pretty strong in pick comps with sieging power on the side.

Cleansing Varus ult will sometimes still be the right call, but you'll need to be much wiser about it.

Nah.

Varus needs some simple stat buffs before anything else, see how that would work for him (as his kit is okay).

For example: Base Health up to 550 (from 537) AD at level 18 up to 105 (from 100) Base AS up to 0,679 (from 0,658) Attack speed growth down to 2,75% from 3% per level

This would generally make his attack speed at level 18 unchanged, however it would also make AS items a bit more effective on him - and they do synergize nicely with his W. To put it into some perspective - right now he needs 229% bonus attack speed to max it out. With those changes he would need 221% - yes, this is not a big difference, but I do believe it's enough to make him stronger in late (along with the AD buff).

The other buff that I would possibly see on him would be:

Q - Piercing Arrow

Varus fires, dealing physical damage to all enemies in the arrow's path, reduced by 10% per enemy hit (down to a minimum of 50%). (down from 15% per enemy hit to a minimum of 33%).

This would not make it feel like downgraded Cait Q (which deals more damage to 3rd target and beyond, while also costing less mana, having less cast time, bigger AoE and less cooldown) and would help out with his wave-clear, especially later in the game.

They need to remove his garbage passive.

Once they do that and give him something far far better that fits him better thematically and mechanically then we can talk about numbers buffs.

Sozan51 votes

Or they can do that.

I kinda forgot how bad his passive was.

Or just allow him to gain part of his passive AS on hit or on crit or on popping his blighted arrow. It maxes out at 40% AS, surely they can give him something other than on kill AS.

HandheldBrandon2 votes

Thats a neat Idea have his passive give him a burst of attack speed after he pops his W stacks. It would be cool if they made it so at 3 stacks it gave the max amount and 1 stack gave a less amount. Say something like 10/20/35 percent attack speed if he pops 1/2/3 stacks. That would be perfect as it would allow him to get more stacks on quickly after that to pop more stacks. If they did that then they could look at his ability numbers and change them and hopefully give him abilities that dont have retardedly high cooldowns.

Kuroi862 votes

The high cooldowns are to keep him from going spam happy in team fights. Each blight mark means 5% of a targets hp in magic damage. Being able to blow away 15% of someones hp is good damage no matter if you're tanky or squishy. Doing it twice in a fight is pretty beast, especially on top of crits.

You know you bring up a good point until you realize Vayne is doing 8 percent of someones health in true damage every 3 attacks and she doesn't have to sacrifice an ability to to do it either she can do it passively. Doesn't need to sacrifice the full damage of an ability (IE Varus has to quickly pop off his Q otherwise he loses overall damage.) When you realize that Vayne is also doing this damage and it the damage can't be reduced by any means then suddenly those high cooldowns dont look very cool do they.

Even if Vayne built zero attack speed items and built all attack damage she would still put out more damage than Varus with a proper build,

Vayne is a tank buster. Excels in duels, needs much better position in team fights due to lower range. Varus is more team fight oriented.

Also, you should be using E long before Q. Q should only be used if it's guaranteed to kill or if you're looking to seige.

HandheldBrandon1 votes

A good Varus player will get 3 stacks then quickly pop off his Q or E. You dont save it to get a guaranteed kill because thats a waste. Also Varus' passive is exactly the same concept as Vaynes they are both designed to bust tanks and health stacking champions. Vayne is just far better because her's cant be mitigated. She may have shorter range but she has 10x the mobility and stealth and an attack damage steroid and on hit steroid. She also has a move speed bonus when chasing champs. She is just a better overall champ than Varus and does his job better than he does.

Kuroi861 votes

Actually Varus' W is much better even against squishy champs, 15% of their max health is a lot more than 8%, and this is on top of the damage from his E or Q. Varus isn't meant to be a tank buster, he has some anti-tank elements in his kit, but that's hardly the focus. He has a ton more AoE than Vayne, grievous wounds built into his E, can snipe champs with Q, can lock down one or more of an enemy team with his ult.

Comparing Varus to Vayne is redundant because their kits are built to do different things. Yes, Vayne is better at 1v1 fights and against tanks. But in a team fight Varus can make a much bigger impact.

Im sorry but Vayne> Varus in every situation. Her damage is unmitigatable by armor, health, magic resist you cant reduce it no matter what. Varus is not better in team fights and actually hes probably worse because his Self peel is on a huge cooldown and is a skill shot and he has zero mobility where as Vayne has it in bundles and a self peel and stealth and an attack damage steroid and a move speed bonus. Vayne will be better in all teamfights because she will put out far more damage to single targets. Varus may have better AOE but you are crazy if you think Varus is better in a teamfight.

All it takes is a Jarvan and Varus' Flash to be down and its over for Varus. Vayne on the other hand will move around so much that chasing her down becomes difficult and her stealth breaks targeting. Ask any player who they would rather have in a teamfight and i guarantee you they will say Vayne almost every single time. Varus may have poke but as he currently stands hes a worse tank buster than her and kogmaw. Also squishies shouldn't even be brought into this conversation because then the point of tank busters becomes irrelevant.

Vayne >Kog>Varus that is the order it is in and it will stay in that order unless they ditch Vaynes true damage passive.

VARUS IS NOT A TANK BUSTER!

If that is all you measure an ADC on then Yes, Vayne is the best of them all.

BECAUSE SHE IS DESIGNED AS A TANK BUSTER.

Varus on the other hand was designed with other intents in mind.

Where as Vayne has great single target damage, she falls off hard in team fights unless she is perfect in her positioning due to her short range. Varus on the other hand can (shouldn't, but can) Initiate for his team with his own ult.

I'm not saying Varus doesn't have issues, his kit does have problems.

But again, comparing Varus to Vayne when they are meant to excel in two different ways is redundant.

thing is that many people simply won't know about this effect actually being in the game

I mean cleansing an effect always works the same, how do you signal the players who are not familiar with varus, that if they remove his cc,they'll cc their allies?

Knowledge is a skill.

Cfr Dota.

Yeah. It would be quite a surprise for those that don't read patch notes or Varus' kit.

And it wouldn't affect very many games as things are now... But it's easy to say that when Varus is so unpopular.
