An Anivia Main's Perspective On The [Reverted] Anivia Changes

I've been playing Anivia since preseason 5, which was around the time I started playing the game. This season, she has carried me from bronze 5 all the way to gold 4. It sucks seeing one of your mains getting nerfed, but at the same time, she kind of needs these changes. She's not as hard to play (I mean this in a general sense) as she's advertised, she's not fun to play against and she'll be much healthier when/if the changes go through.

Her skill ceiling is high don't get me wrong, but her skill floor is way too low for a champion who's supposedly amongst 5 hardest champions to play. After level 6 she basically becomes completely brainless to lane as and oppressive as fuck to lane against (Unless you really know what you're doing against her). A lot like Annie actually, which should never be comparable in terms of skill.

If you ask me, she's not fun to play against at all. Any decent Anivia can force you out of lane with Q+E+Auto at level 3 and after level 6 she becomes a nightmare to lane against. She'll just E+R/R+E for around 35-40% of your hp, disengage with Q or W and run every time you get too close to her. Later on in the game she can completely take an enemy squishy out of a team fight with E+R/R+E.

She'll definitely be a much healthier champion with the changes, but honestly I think she'd need a small buff to make up for the small hit she's gonna take. Of course, bad Anivias will get super dumpstered and good Anivias won't get hit nearly as hard. I'd say give her ult the attack speed slow back at max size, just enough to properly reward good Anivia players for dropping those perfect ulti's. This will also make positioning as around ult Anivia much less claustrophobic late game (Because carries won't be able to burst you as easily) and encourages her to play around her team like a control mage should.

Anyways, those are my thoughts. I know I missed all the commotion, but I just wanted to get this out there and keep all those salty FotM birds in check.

TL;DR : The changes are a good thing for Anivia, she'll be less annoying to lane against, harder to play and healthier for the game overall.

I agree, the 'chilled' and 'iced' changes would really help her as far as game health is concerned. They said that those changes (as well as the Nunu and Kindred changes) will be coming back in some form or another, it's just a matter of time.

Remember when Anivia's ultimate had it's full range instead of growing slowly like it does now? That was truly horrifying to play against. But Anivia's specialty is turning engages against her opponent with Crystallize and Glacial Storm, then hopefully surviving the encounter with Rebirth, which gives her a unique identity as a mage. With some luck, the changes will come back better than before (and maybe fix Anivia's Q hitbox while you're at it, Riot. Please?)

So I actually made a post regarding the PBE changes Riot were proposing to her E+R and the new "Chilled/Iced" changes. I was concerned that it would hike her mana consumption too high and overall increase her burst window by 3 seconds. This was not the compromise I had in mind. The idea was to increase her skill floor and introduce a reward for landing the Q+E properly, and an incentive to use the R for team fight scenarios as opposed to an E+R combo with no counterplay, and is basically a mimic of the Q+E without skill.

These new changes basically make her a weaker champion, and do nothing to increase her skill cap.

**Though I was skeptical at first, I would be in favor of reverting to the PBE changes to her Q+E and R+E Iced/Chilling effects because her damage stays the same while increasing her skill floor. This is what Anivia needs right now. **
