So...does does Yasuo's wall not block Lux anymore?

Nikushimi Zero··4 votes·17,689 views

Has it ever been able to? I swear it was able to...And if they did change that then Lux became even more annoying with her low CD ult since nothing can stop it except for dodging, and that thing has such stupid hitboxes. Sometimes if you're not near it, it doesn't hit. other times it does.

So, can someone tell me what Yasuo's wall can and cannot block? Thanks.

I did see that, but it wasn't listed anywhere. Just her main 3 abilities. It's fine if it doesn't, but thought it could since I swear I saw a Yasuo do it several times when I was playing lux before. RIP.

Its because Lux Ult isnt actually a projectile. Its an instant area damage. Same with xerath q, vel ult, stuff like that.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Ah, makes sense. I always thought it was since I swear Yasuo's have blocked it whenever I ulted when playing Lux.

Lux ult is not a projectile, means that it does not get blocked by yasuos wall

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Thanks. I always thought it did since I thought I saw him block it before whenever I played as Lux.

Silly Yasuo mains thinking Xerath's Q and Lux's R are projectiles

Nikushimi Zero3 votes

I'm not a Yasuo main. I was asking because I swear I saw a Yasuo block my Lux ult several times and had thought they changed it when I played as Yasuo in a recent ARAM match and it didnt block the enemy Lux's Ult.

No need to be rude. I was asking a simple question because I didn't know and thought it could.

Its always funny when I play Xerath vs Yasuo and Yasuo keeps using his windwall to block my Q even though it never works :D

It does block Viktor's laser, though

The weird thing about that is that it only blocks the laser before it hits the ground. Once the laser hits the ground and starts to move forward it can't block it anymore.

EDIT: Made a mistake, its the other way around

All this time I thought it wasn't a projectile, because... you know... it's a laser. But recently I accidentally found out I can block it. Guess it works the same way as Vel Koz's W.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Really? I've played viktor before and it stopped it once it hit the ground. O.o That coulda been a glitch though during those matches. Idk.

Ah I mixed it up sorry, his windwall does block the laser while it moves on the ground, but you can target the area behind yasuo

Kouga2 votes

Not much more to add, several others pointed things out as far as Lux Ult. And previously you may have seen the ability not hit because of hitbox hijinks, but if Yasuo had ever actually been able to block the Ult, the laser would have actually stopped at the wall which wouldn't happen.

Some further clarification on Yasuo wall (which also applies to Braum's wall)

They block Projectiles, which in League code terms is basically: Any particle (an object of some kind) that has a travel distance - meaning it moves from Point A to Point B, with a few special cases.

Most ranged Auto Attacks have projectiles - Ashe shoots an arrow (particle) that travels (from her bow to your face). Exceptions: Thresh's AA is classified as Ranged (which also means he does not proc Relic Shield), but Thresh's attack does not have a particle. Instead he has a visual animation where he whips his hook at the target, and then they take damage. There is no "object" in coding terms that travels from him to the target so there is nothing to destroy. Kayle, when she is using her ranged AAs, also does not have a projectile. She swings and the target burns, but there is no projectile.

For other Champs, AoE abilities that just sort of "appear" in the zone without actually travelling anywhere will not be blocked. This is why Lux's Ult is not blocked, but all of her basic abilities are. When she ults the laser appears in the zone but doesn't move. same for Vel'Koz ult. Some look like they move, but don't. Annie's incinerate, for example, visually looks like its moving but the zone of the AoE doesn't move and there is no projectile. As soon as the ability casts the entire zone is affected. No projectile.

Then you have projectiles that go "above" the wall, such as Ziggs and Kog'Maw's ults. And Riot made a special case for Nautilus' Ult by saying it goes "under" the wall even though in game terms it is a projectile (particle moving distance).

This doesn't even address things like Units. Champions are obviously not blocked, which is why you can't stop a Tristana from jumping through the Wall. but there are Units & Pets that Champions have that may interact with the wall. For example Orianna's ball is not deleted, but it will stop upon contacting the wall while moving. Fizz' Ult fish drops to the ground and can still be walked on by an enemy. Azir's soldiers will stop moving.

There are a ton of other little niche cases but hopefully that gives you a decent sense of what will or won't be blocked!

Nikushimi Zero2 votes

Yeah, I know the majority of that. Though the Nautilus thing I never knew. Thanks for all the info though!

Also, I must have imagined his wall stopping the laser from my lux when I have fought them before because I swear my laser stopped at his wall, but maybe due to fog of war and stupid hit boxes I didn't see it go through and damage anyone.

I do appreciate the help though. I am new to Yasuo, and just know his wall can be a pain in the ass. Especially when playing Varus (my favorite ranged champion). So, much appreciated in terms of what can and cannot be blocked.

Kouga1 votes

Sorry if it was a bunch of stuff you already knew - I'm never sure how much to include and I figure too much information is better than too little =] I've been playing since the beta and I know how difficult it can be to keep up with the minutia of Champion interactions, especially when they introduce things that completely change the way the rules used to work! Anyway let me know if you have any other questions

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

No problem. It's better to cover things than to assume.

I played when it first came out, but had several bad experiences (insta dying in spawn....yeah, that was happening to me for whatever reason) and so I just got back into it maybe...oh, idk. Like a year or 2 ago? I can't remember, but I've been playing some time now.

Just since they've been changing champions (reworks), add new champions, changed items, removed items, added items, etc. etc. Things are just a bit harder to keep up. Especially with these new masteries. X.x I still haven't gotten the hang of them yet. Not sure what I should take for what champions. Especially with league of juggernaughts and crits being a thing it seems lately with the new champions, reworks, and updates....Pure tanks dealing insane damage, ashe and mf critting everywhere with little to no crit chance. RIP.

Especially since I don't have many rune pages because of IP costs for them so I have to use two rune pages, one for AD like characters/tanks and one for AP scaling characters. I wish I could personalize for each champ like most people can, but RIP.

Anyways, thanks for the info. It's much appreciated.

Vel ult Xerath q Karthus

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

There are several others, but I appreciate the headsup on what doesn't. Kinda figured things that are "Thrown" over don't get blocked.

Idk, not well versed in Yasuo yet, so I'm still learning. Just know what I know from fighting other Yasuo's. I swore I saw them blocking Lux ults. I was wrong it seems.

Project omen1 votes

I haven't had any problems with Yasuo's wall so far, except with Twisted Fate's gold card, which was a bug that was fixed by Riot.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Mmm, never knew that about TF. The bug that is. Yasuo's are such a pain against my marksmen and mages. Especially on my Varus who focuses on attack speed for damage output late game rather than his Q.

nothing can stop it except for dodging

OH NOES.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Wow, so much rudeness over a simple question.

There really isn't much of a counter to it and with its hit boxes being messed up, dodging it is easier said than done. It was a simple question. Chill.

Vistha Kai1 votes

You never could Windwall Lux's ult.

And the fact her ult sometimes doesn't hit or hits when it shouldn't... I can tell you why that happens.

Ability indicators(aka those things you see when hovering over abilities and similar things, such as Lux's red "laser" before ulting) are on the ground level. So are most abilities. Lux is an extreme exception as her ult is very high above the ground effectively displacing ability effects (lazors) from their actual hitbox(ability indicators).

TL;DR Rito fucked up.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Huh, I swear I saw some Yasuo's blocking them before like several months ago. Guess I was wrong. They always did when I was lux, or maybe the stupid hitbox of it made me miss.

That hitbox on her abilities (and other abilities) are so hit and miss. Like, I can be several units away from the red laser of her ult before it goes off, and still get hit. I even once got hit by it (and several other abilities lately) when invulnerable in Yi's Q. Things are strange sometimes....

Thanks for the info though! I appreciate it.

Vistha Kai1 votes

For reference, here is Lux ult made using my Mad Paint Skillz.

http://i.imgur.com/EJOCyVO.png

Green is the ground level(starting point of Blue). Yellow is Lux's model(top of it is her head, starting point of Red). Blue is the ability indicator and damage hitboxes. Red is visuals. Purple is where blue and red overlap.

Depending on the angle her ult gets really fucked up in the clarity department.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

I can see that. Jesus. Hitboxes OP.

Vistha Kai1 votes

I'd say, "You have no idea"... If it wasn't for the fact I just explained how big of a bullshit we're dealing with here.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

I always did say hitboxes are OP in the game. Idk how many times I can be out of range of something, or not anywhere near things and still get hit by them. RIP.

Vistha Kai1 votes

IKR, I fought aganist Illaoi the other day.

I was about two widths worth of space away from her tentacle slam and I died anyway. Kinda like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiiX9Gz-72w

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Things that goes through Yasuo's windwall:

  • Thresh's & Vel'koz's AA.
  • Lux's ult.
  • Velkoz's ult.
  • Xerath's Q
Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Wait, Vel'Koz AA goes through? Well, I suppose if it's considered a laser and not a projectile laser.

I know of the other (besides Lux, I know now her ult isn't). I also thought Vel'Koz ult was blocked, but others in this thread say it doesn't and the wiki did too, so RIP. Interesting to know.

Aeolian Melodies1 votes

it blocks her QWE and AA, not the ult (it never did, the laser isn't a projectile)

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Hmm, yeah. So I've been told. I always thought it did cause I swear I saw Yasuo's stop my laser before, but I was mistaken it seems.

khorney1 votes

Why wouldn't it block it I thought it did because it's a targeted ability. It won't block cass q because that's not a targeted ability why wouldn't it block lux ult I thought it did

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

I thought it did too, but I guess it doesn't. Oh well. Just more to know when going up against her. It's not that I hate Lux (I love her in fact). It's just that ult of hers is so ridiculous. Lol. Low CD, high damage, long range, multiple hits. RIP. XD

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

I love the downvotes over a question. Lmfao. I'm not saying it SHOULD block it, but that I thought it did. XD

Everyone needs to calm down there. lol.

Nikushimi Zero1 votes

Thanks for the information guys! I got it. What I thought was my imagination it seemed. :P Rip.
