I hate always having to rush Zhonyas when laning against a Zed as a squishy mid

I hate it in general that sometimes you need to skip your core item and buy an item specifically so I can survive the laning phase against X champion. But funny because assassin's can just buy cheap items like this and they are good to go, do their whole combo and survive while getting a kill due to amazing mobility or dashes that they have.

Though in general it always felt like champions with high mobility always dominated this game (not just assassin's in general)

But no really...there are just some bad matchups at certain points in a game for some champs. Just a fact of life. It's something we just have to deal with. Being a FGC guy...I know all about bad matchups and in those games they are set in stone from character select screen...no items or anything to sway the influence. Just gotta be more skilled, or be able to punish all the way when they fuq up, or get lucky...sometimes all 3. :D

making a champion's kit worthless.

Being 90% forced to adapt to an item that guarantees my safety & health is over the line.

Would be no problem technically....

IF ZED would not be the ONLY CHAMPION in the entire roaster who forces Mages to do so!

All are super annoying to face and require you to counter-build at some point - but at least you can do your thing, snowball, roam get you core item - and than build depending on the state of the game...

Zed? No Zhonyas -> Greyscreen. (In most matchups)

This attitude is my biggest problem with Zed.

There's a big difference between adapting to the situation, and needing to build Zhonya's against Zed.

Adapting would be needing to prioritize an early Zhonya's because the Zed is beating you - but getting the option to go for your mana+CDR item if even, or even a greedier item if ahead.

There's no adaption when literally every game against Zed requires Zhonya's early/first.

Put more simply: I want to adapt to the situation, not the pick.

Zed gets to adapt. He can rush duskblade if he's even/ahead, or get hexdrinker (and possibly Mercury treads) first if he's getting beaten. In either case, the mage still needs Zhonya's though.

no its that that he forces you to go that route and that same route also forces u to give your your mana sustain, while barely countering him... while the same time his item that counters u is half the price and does a much better job vs you.
