At what rank in this game does a person get to... waive his stick around and act like a tough guy.

"Hey look at me, I am in ______, you don't want to mess with me. I'm a good player."

Is it in Silver I, Gold V, Platinum, Masters?????

At what point does a person become a made man in this game????

I think it goes without saying that if a Bronze IV or a low Silver were to say... "Don't mess with me" he wouldn't command much authority and may even instil some laughter. At the same time, I doubt you HAVE to be Challenger.

In reality, you can do it whenever you want. This is usually played in the "I'm right and you're wrong" frame. In reality, you just have to be able to logically defend your argument. Anytime someone essentially says "My opinion supersedes yours because I'm higher rank" is making an argument with no ground. Force them to defend their stance. If they can't, point it out and tell them to get fucked.

EDIT: If you are familiar with commonly used logical fallacies, you can fairly easily tell when people aren't supporting their argument. Then all you have to do is point it out and continue to ask them to make a valid argument supporting their point.

lol, and what is the point of this thread exactly? Is it perhaps for someone who is frustrated dealing with that nonsense to vent? Seems it. So instead I offered him tools to deal with those assholes. Its the internet, they're not going away any time soon.

Or perhaps you did. Perhaps you are trying to use some college learned philosophy 101 crap in an internet thread. Relax, not everything is as deep as you try to make it sound. Maybe he is frustrated, or maybe he legit just wants to know when you're considered good enough to be able to have some sort of in game league authority. Either way, the whole fallacy thing was a joke. Over board.

You're pretty much wrong all over. I didn't think it'd be funny or whatever. Just thought you were being a bit over board with your little fallacy junk. Who cares about validity and fallacies. This isn't freakin college class here. Just make and argument and back it up. Simple. What's this ground crap you're talking about anyway? I'm not trying to engage in some stupid philosophical psychology 101 "I learned this in college" argument crap. It was just as simple as me telling you that you were being a bit over board when you brought in the fallacy junk. Simply put, quit trying to be an Alpha on the internet by telling people to "shut the fuck up", and just umm, shut the fuck up. Stop thinking so deep into things, it's not that serious.

I'm not the guy who literally started flaming someone for trying to help another dude out. Are you angry because you failed philosophy? Nothing I was saying was me trying to be an alpha. It was me trying to be helpful. You somehow judged that it wasn't helpful, deducted that the guy was asking when he gets to be a douchebag, and decided to give the helpful guy a rash of shit.

Its not overboard if it helps him. It helps me, it might help him. The fact that you responded to it the way you did is the much more ridiculous part of this entire shit of an argument you keep trying to make.
