This Whole "Never Surrender" (a.k.a "Holding A Game Hostage") Thing Is Getting Out Of Hand

Tentacle Advisor··101 votes·6,108 views

Let me say that I, too, am the kind of person who never wants to surrender. Never wants to keep trying. Never wants to admit defeat. But there is a key word to all of that: WANT.

I don't want to surrender. I don't want to stop trying to push through all of the enemy team's nuances. I don't want to be the guy who says "You know what, guys? I don't think we have a chance at winning this."

However, I do know when I have to surrender. I do know when I have to stop trying because our efforts will clearly be made pointless. I do know when I have to [let alone, SHOULD] be the guy to say "Hey, guys, I think we should throw in the towel. We'll just have to try harder next game, and maybe then we can get a victory."

It is very...how do I put it...demotivating to continue playing through a game after two random people on your team decided that, despite the score being something around 3-20, 0-15 or even 2-49 (Yes, I have been in games like this where we just played that poorly), will be like "No, don't surrender. We can still come back from this. Just stop being a [insert derogatory word here] and focus on the game." All the while, the enemy team has taken 4+towers, 3+drakes, and/or an inhib or two.

What tilts me the most about this is when the say "Just focus on the game", when in actuality, that is exactly what I am doing. I am focused on the game. That's how I managed to notice that we have no advantage. That's how managed to notice that we have no towers taken. That's how I managed to notice they have 3+ drakes. That's how I notice that we have Super Minions pushing into our base and cant clear them out because we're so far behind in damage/items/waveclear, due to low levels, little-to-no exp, and/or gold.

And, what's worse is that these players seem to believe that surrendering is a 100% bad thing. They'll always cry about how you're "being a b****" or "you should stop playing the game because you don't know how to avoid surrendering", simply because you don't want to waste another 10+ minutes of your time.

Another thing I'd like to point out that makes this hostage situation worse is that sometimes the enemy team will be so far ahead of you (And will know it) so they will stall out the game. Not so much that you have a chance at a comeback, but just enough that you can move around in your base, but cant leave it. They wont go for the Nexus. They wont even try to fight you. They will just stand there and laugh (maybe; even shine their oh-so-awesome Mastery level) while your base is destroyed by Supers. This isn't an issue, honestly, but when it happens immediately after a surrender vote fails, it just adds salt to the already open wound.

TL;DR - Enough with the "Never Surrender" thing. If the Team Kill score, gold deficit, lack of drakes, lack of towers, etc, is pointing towards defeat and your teammates want to surrender to make it out of the game faster, then just surrender. Otherwise, you'll just be seen as a jerk.

Instead of feeling like you're held hostage, why not find ways to make things feel less bad?

When your team is completely hopeless and that there's almost zero chances at winning, might as well find something else to do, like play a "game" with the enemy team, or have a chat with them. Probably won't work every time, but sometimes there are enemies who don't mind some fun or chatter.

For instance, when the entire team is camping at our base, I sometimes just ran past them, out of the base, and see if they would catch me. Sometimes they would follow along and try to kill me, sometimes they wouldn't. Or just ask the enemy team to try to play hide-and-seek when your entire base is hopeless.

Or if that doesn't work, I just wait for the last minute to hit surrender to see if the nexus can explode twice. It's always funny to watch that happen, and that's often why people don't hit surrender, ever.

I know these ideas sounds dumb as fuck and this will probably get downvoted to flames, but you also have to give yourself a reminder that you're really just playing a game after all. Go out, and have some fun!

I usually practice last hitting in these kinds of games. Even on carry type champions it can be challenging from behind (minions scale with time), and even more so on supports. Funnily enough, it is usually the optimal strategy, unless the enemy team is sitting on your nexus turrets: you aren't going to win teamfights anyway.

I mean to each their own.

The chances of that happening during situations, like the examples I gave in the original post, are very, very slim. Not everyone likes to gamble.

In the end, it becomes do you think your voice is worth more than someone elses voice then. Some people can enjoy different situations.

I generally DO say try to stay positive. But I do sometimes surrender, sometimes even start a surrender. But if someone wants to play it out, I will absolutely respect it and try my best. I chose to enter the game, the agreement is that I will stay and play it out. There isn't a time, but in CSGO they literally say you agree to stay here for xminutes to play it out. So if someone wants to, I will stick to it. If you are losing as bad as you say, the game will end soon enough anyways. Unless you have the worst case of trolling opponents, just keep trying and as they ace your team they will win.

In the end, it becomes do you think your voice is worth more than someone elses voice then. Some people can enjoy different situations.

I respect the points you made in your response but this one stood out to me the most. And to this point, I would like to ask, what if it isn't just you saying you want to end it? What if the majority of your team (or what I would have previously assumed would be majority, given that a 3-to-2 vote should be considered so) wanted to surrender? What if they, too, noticed everything you did in game and realized it was a downhill battle no matter what they tried or how hard they played?

This only leads us into the territory of whether or not surrendering should even be an available option. If, for the most part, a surrender vote has to be practically unanimous (i.e. the whole must be 4 out of 5 thing), then is it even right to have it as an option? If a player is to respect the decision to continue out a losing game, solely because two other players decided that, with some God-given miracle, they could win it, then why have the option to surrender be available to anyone?

But, of course, that's a topic for the general discussion boards. In fact, I may actually post it there, at some point.

MysterQ8 votes

I think your point is fair enough. I have no direct comment on whose voice should be valued more.

But I will say I feel many people give up early, so I am probably biased in that I will play it out if someone else wants to as well (most of the time). I know anecdotes don't matter. But I have won ridiculous comebacks. It just happens sometimes. Yea you shouldn't rely on it, but outside of my time that I was already fine committing to it, I am not losing much (except my stress levels).

Xion The XIV4 votes

I sometimes do that too. When you have a score that looks like 4-35 it's time to quit. I have also had games where a single team fight will determine who wins the game. But for some reason the people who keep others "Hostage" are the exact same people who are the reason the game spiraled out of control. 0/12 riven by the 13 minute mark is the one blaming the team and then keeping us hostage with their duo partner.

But you also have to remember there are people who want to stack their score for S/S-/S+. So they farm minions and JG without pushing too hard and the Duo partners that sold all of their items and bought tears.

some times you can win, but some examples are too extreme, i know the difference between comeback and pure stupidity, but when its pure stupidity people should just ff already

MysterQ2 votes

But some people's pure stupidity moments are 17min in with a small difference.

SephAgro3 votes

the chances of that happening are very slim and if we add up all the time lost due to not surrendering, then the future games we win in that time saved exceed the small percentage of games won by not surrendering. its just wasting time

MysterQ5 votes

Playing this game is wasting time. If you surrender just to join a new queue, you are just wasting time again.

heroikc2 votes

I have had that kind of turnabout...only once in three years. There are times when the situation is hopeless and you need to understand just to give up.

MysterQ1 votes

Do what you want, I will disagree.

What if I think it is still possible. What if I am in a promo so I don't gain anything by ff. What if I am still having fun.

Again, everyone gets his own choice. I can't change your mind.

heroikc1 votes

What if everyone is hopelessly miserable and are entirely frustrated because someone didn't support the ff when they had the chance? What if no one cared that you were in a promo and just want to move on after an hour long match? I'm just saying you should keep your mind open to others' pain, particularly if you're solo-queue.

MysterQ1 votes

I have said some people have made good points in this thread.

But, again. You agreed to play this match. In other games it says you agree to play to the end, devote x amount of time, etc. So you already said that was fine. And the rules allow you to quit early if enough people agree. If they don't, then you should respect the rule and sadly play it out.

If the game is one hour, then that means it is completely winnable. If it is a stomp, then the enemy will just get an ACE and take our base in 30 seconds. If you are able to hold out then there are chances (even if not good). Even at 20 minutes. If it is truly unwinnable, they will ace you several times and take your base in <10 minutes, otherwise it probably wasn't completely unwinnable.

There are good points here. But saying the game is unwinnable is not a good point imo.

heroikc2 votes

Your talking about the game itself and team synergy, but not everyone has your mental fortitude; people will break under pressure and despair, particularly if the game is going horribly against them. This is a matter of psychology, not honor. Even soldiers want to quit a war that's far from over, particularly if they are in a downward slope.

Kloqdq13 votes

To everyone that says the very typical,

"sometimes you can win though"

Let me put it like this.

If the game is 40 minutes long and we were losing for 30 minutes, then managed to bring it back those last 10 minutes, the experience is still heavily a negative one.

Just because we came back and won that game we were being fucking trashed on for 30 minutes, doesn't mean that 10 minutes of coming back cancel out the negative experience. It's not rewarding, nor enjoyable to keep going at that point and when it's something like a normal for example, there isn't any gain out of it. I would rather cut the game short by 10-20 minutes and move onto the next one than to have a chance at having a good time.

League is a game at the core. If a game is lost and people are demotivated, it's incredibly hard to keep playing. A long and drawn out bad experience isn't completely negated by a short brief good experience. The only time I would say its better to just keep playing is in ranked but even then, it's not that helpful. Yes, I don't want to give up and lose a game. I like to win as well. But when the score is 5/14 and we have lost 5 towers at 15 minutes, I don't really feel any desire to keep playing at that point. I will keep trying and doing my best, I don't just give up and run it down mid, but when I cast my vote to surrender, it's because I honestly don't believe we can win.

Just because I got a piece of cake after being beat up doesn't mean I am just happy with the piece of cake. League is pretty much the same. The slight reward often doesn't make up for the painful and depressing experience.

Automated Riven13 votes

I disagree. IMHO the best and most rewarding games I have ever played are the ones where my team (the whole team btw) sticks it out and we pull off the most amazing comeback. This game http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2585173163/39322377?tab=overview is one of my favorite this year because I was playing with some friends and we fell behind really bad early. The enemy team took two inhibs iirc and both of the inhib towers and 31 minutes. one of my buddies tilted off the planet but we convinced him to wait 5 minutes (denied a surrender vote) and we kept in. I think we came back from 145 HP on the nexus at 32 minutes. We stacked a bit of armor bought double knights vow and twitch carried the fuck out of late game. But that game IMHO was amazing because my team and I said "fuck you" to the odds and statistics and won a game because we said we could and buckled down. And for that reason alone IMHO it was better then 90% of other games.

(ftr we were hardcore losing from 22 minutes in the game, we lost a few teamfights and baron and all they way down midlane at 22 minutes. And then we lost a shit ton more at 32 minutes when we lost bot inhib and 2 nexus towers. And we came back and won at 18 minutes later at 50 minutes. And all of us that were in the call were extremely excited to win. Including the guy who tilted earlier.)

Kloqdq5 votes

I was playing with some friends

This in general can influence your experience quite a bit.

In general though, you are right, it can happen and be a really rewarding game. But then that comes back to it being a gamble. On my own, I don't have people I know to increase the overall experience. Mixing that with depressing a game can be when your down, it's really hard to say it is worth.

I have had the same highs as that kind of game. It can be exciting. But I have played a lot of games and this season especially, when a game is behind, it doesn't feel rewarding to comeback. It's mostly exhausting and I just don't feel any desire to play the game again afterwards. I think that could also be a mix of general wear for the game showing for me but overall, if we got stomped for 30 minutes to comes come in that last 10, it's just kind of depressing overall. You don't feel as good about that win unless you got like 25 LP or promoted from it. My Kassadin game for example was just a norms. One which rewarded me nothing but some IP for the win. The game just was annoying and I didn't like the time spent playing it. The experience, even after a win, was still highly unenjoyable.

Yes, you can get good times, but it's a gamble if you will get that good time. That isn't something I want to take when I come to play this game for fun.

Automated Riven2 votes

I understand that you and I have a different experience when we play. I am sorry to hear that you are having poor experiences. Hope the new season Is better for everyone who feels like the game is a bit stale. I dont really play ranked much but I do find that playing with friends helps the overall enjoyment of the game. I still love it tho. But even the games where i am playing alone I feel like the comebacks are epic still. Especially if they are combacks where we do things that are super good in order to win instead of them messing up. Like the game I referenced above. We built items which were super important for our victory, (13 armor items vs an all ad team) and thats what made it so cool imho. I loved being able to make good decisions and get paid off for it.

Kloqdq2 votes

Playing with friends in general help. Alone it's a lot harder to find certain enjoyment out of things. It could also be a different approach to how the game works. I like winning but I also realize that winning isn't everything. Again, I know those similar highs but I just feel that majority of the time if you and your team are behind and you guys have been losing for 20-30 minutes straight, most people are still going to have a negative experience. It does matter how you look at it and it's like the, Glass half empty, Glass half full kind of thing. How you take it will change from person to person and it's just hard to really nail down.

Automated Riven2 votes

I agree with that. I just tend to enjoy overcoming dificulties. So winning a game where I feel like I am beating my head into a wall most of it feels extremely good for me. But I am extremely competitive also, and hate losing with a passion. If the only way to win is through a ton of suffering and pain I will still be happier with that then losing relitively easilly.

The Oasis3 votes

There are definItely some games where there's a possibility of outscaling...but it pisses me off when the team is too busy flaming each other and slinging insults to even pay attention to the game, then getting stuck with one 'never surrenderer' and one person voting no just to be spiteful.

I don't want to be stuck in a game where over half the team is busy spewing vitriol, and i don't care that we might be able to win if doing so involves spending another 20 minutes with those people.

Your argument is absolutely fine when it comes to normal games but when it comes to ranked, you need to play it out. You're there to win the game and until the nexus is destroyed, you should not be surrendering or AFKing. There are people who might have a lot riding on winning this game, hell this could be their 5th game in a BO5 for the next league. The fact is I have won games where I had every single turret down with only the nexus left standing and we had only taken 1 tower to that point. So it's really never over. I hate it when I get a bunch of people who feed their ass off and and then try to throw in the towel at 20 minutes when you're doing your best to turn things around.

In the case of normal games, that's fine. I mean normals are meant to be a fun experience and having them drawn out just for the sake of drawing them out is pointless and makes the game feel like a chore. Winning/losing has no effect in normal games unlike in Ranked, where winning should be the top priority.

MillForMe9 votes

Since this viewpoint hasn't been stated, I'll take the time to write it out. I apologize if any of it sounds aggressive. And, to clarify, I am only talking about ranked.

I do not care about your viewpoint in regards to the direction this game is going, win or lose. I do not want to see in my chat that you think the game is over. I don't want to see how you believe the enemy team is super fed, or that things are looking bleak, unless you're making a good joke out of it.

Ranked is a game mode for those that want to climb and see the improvement. It's for those with a goal further than "win the current game." This is a mode that rewards you for your struggle and might even make you cry when it's in vain. That being said, everyone enters this mode knowing that winning IS a huge part of the reason you're there.

If you think the game is over, hit the surrender button and let the rest of the team show you their opinions with a vote. They will let you know overall if maybe you're not seeing what they are seeing, or if you're right and it's time for the game to end. The vote speaks for itself. You INITIATING the vote speaks for itself.

Are you confused about why the vote to surrender failed? Ask your team what they think the team needs to do to win. Give it a shot. You already went into the game and you're stuck until you win/lose/agree to surrender with multiple teammates. Sometimes, that means you'll stop having fun because you desperately want to quit while your teammates do not. Sometimes that means your teammates will not surrender out of spite, or surrender out of spite.

But when it comes to using the chat to express your viewpoint, you're treading over thin ice. You're about to express how you believe that the effort of four other members of your team as well as your own will amount to NOTHING. You're about to say you don't believe they have what it takes. Even if you don't think it, even if you're unaware of it, that's what it means when you say you think it's over.

You are the equivalent of ALL the side characters in stories who talk about how the match is over and have no faith. The people who tell someone to throw in the towel because they will never reach their goal.

One surrender might not mean much to you. But some people might lose more lp than they gain. Surrender isn't something they'd like to do, it may even be something they feel they can't do.

This isn't about whether or not people think the game is over. It's about how far you're willing to push yourself before you call it quits. Some people are obstinate. Some are fickle. If you enter a ranked match, you take the risk of having either one on your team. Your job is to push yourself to your limit, and then, push yourself more for those with a higher limit than you, because you made that commitment.

This is a team game. You ARE a part of that team, for better or worse, for wins or loses, through the quickest and the longest of games. The sooner you understand the implications of that, the faster you'll grow and understand yourself and your peers.

Never Surrender.

ArchMageM4gnus2 votes

Honestly, you're the type of player I hate.

Some games are completely unwinnable and are simply time wasters. I've seen games go 30-5 and my team will not surrender even though we have no towers and their Yi Jung and ADC are 10-1. Holding people hostage in games becomes another tool of toxicity. I have no issues at all in accepting a loss and to grant my opponents the win; they obviously deserved it. Not only by surrendering am I saving myself time, I am saving my enemies time as well. It's honestly the best possible win-win scenario for all players in those type of circumstances.

Instead players hold the game hostage while we wait for the enemy to take baron; port back. Take Elder drake; possibly port back again while we fight the super minion wave. Then they come in and finish us off....all of which can take anywhere from 10 - 20 mins of WASTED time.

I admire your heroics to the point that I'm sickened by your pride.

He had an adc once quit at 3 minutes because his support janna had stole a SINGLE cs after using a tornado to stop an engage.

Dokueki Kenshin2 votes

See, this is where I stand myself. I actually encounter this nonsense MUCH more frequently than I do the original issue mentioned by the OP. Also, though I martyr myself for saying this...

I DESPISE surrendering.

I'll admit that part of this is because I'm pretty competitive. Part of me feels that simply folding in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds doesn't teach me anything. Part of it may even be because I'm always eager to try and figure out how to come back when I'm behind, even when it appears to be impossible. This isn't to say that I don't recognize that defeat often teaches more than victory, but I digress.

Do I surrender? On rare occasions, yes, usually with my friends or if I feel like I offer nothing to the team in the current situation. However, I think the one thing that I definitely differ on from most in this thread is when you do turn the game around and win.

Apparently, most people still find it exhausting. I, quite contrarily, find it exhilarating.

Let me put this in context. I recently got auto-filled as a VI jungle in a ranked game. Jungling is NOT my strong suit. Early game went about as poorly as I imagined. Negative KDA, behind on objectives, the works.

Then I stole Ocean Drake and helped the ADC get a triple kill.

Then I stole Baron with the team and straight pushed for the win after fighting from a good/KDA/objective disadvantage for literally the entire game. I even got honors and props from the enemy team.

Not every game that I've fought through has worked out, yeah. And I still do learn a lot from defeat, either way, about matchups, about item synergies, about my own weaknesses as a player. But that feeling of being able to adapt to an unfavorable situation, making the best of what you've got, and possibly even beating the odds, is honestly the source of some of my best moments in League.

Now, I don't take the game hostage. I don't troll, I don't cuss people out (though I do reprimand people for being jerks to their teammates), and if I'm the only one who wants to keep fighting, well, that's why surrender only needs 4 votes. But this mentality that you give up simply because things appear hopeless is something I just can't ascribe to, ever. If it's hopeless, then it's hopeless enough for them to take my Nexus without me being able to stop them. It may be hopeless, but I will make my enemies prove it first before I concede.

I made a similar thread the other day.

{quoted}

I just had a game where we were losing. We were losing pretty badly. Now before anyone comes in to make assumptions about me, I said nothing in chat other than that "If I had good ping we could be doing so much better bot" and "bot lane was the only one that didn't get steamrolled" I said this as a fact of the state of the situation not as an accusation or a way to blame someone. The other thing you should know is that for most of the early game I was dealing with some heavy lag but despite this me and Tristana were able to hold our own in our lane and it eventually went back down to normal levels.

In the below image you can see what the look of the game was in terms of objectives in the bottom right corner and the items and score of everyone.

https://image.ibb.co/gwRBdk/An_Untitled_Story.jpg

At that point in the game I called for a surrender, I think in this particular situation that that's a very VERY reasonable thing to do. When I do so our Nocturne started saying how I'm toxic and how I was "Afk for most of the game" and that it was my fault we were in this situation. I wasn't "afk most of the game" I disconnected and reconnected immediately two times to try and fix my ping and it worked on the second try and despite my high ping I still participated in my lane as you can see by the score of the two AD carries myself and the enemy sup.

After that Nocturne said I was trolling and trying to deliberately lose the game about 30 seconds before the enemy ended the game. I said that this was "not a situation we're going to come back from" and that "Fine! Tell me your plan, if you think we can win this then tell me how to win it and I'll help". And by the way, before you accuse me of it, no, I didn't just give up, even when I call for a surrender I will still fight with all I've got if for no more reason than because it's boring to just sit around doing nothing and for no less reason than because I have a certain level of pride in my ability to play this game. What did he say after I asked this? Nothing. He gave no ideas for how he thought we could win this, he was just trying to blame someone.

I am sick of this attitude from people towards people that call for a surrender even in a situation as bad as this. Someone calls for a surrender and people jump on them and put all the blame on them, exaggerating things they did wrong or making stuff up completely. This is not real life, we are not fighting for our lives, we aren't fighting for anything other than elo and that means very little in life. Belittling someone just because they want to save some time from a situation that they can leave from and to them looks unsalvageable is wrong and both people in game and on these boards do it. Shaming people that call for a surrender needs to stop. If someone is being toxic then YES, being angry with them makes sense. But neither me nor anyone else that just thinks the game is lost deserves to be put down just for asking for an ff.

Though for me it's not even that we don't surrender that bugs me. It's that you get jumped for even bringing up a surrender and even when you ask someone if they have a plan to level the playing field they won't have any ideas or will just say the stock "We have late game" even when the enemy ALSO has late game and is ahead of us.

I hate seeing the "we have late game" when my team is being caged into our own base 30+ minutes into the game. Like, what do these people consider "late game" to be? Because, as far as I'm concerned, 30+minutes IS LATE GAME.

Automated Riven2 votes

Late game is 5-6 items. Unfortunately "late game" is a term that means the adc has 3 items now due to (in part) shit balancing on riots side. But mostly due to the fact that games end early. But 5-6 items was the true definition of late game and should still be tbh.

Automated Riven5 votes

For me personally I will always hit no. Unless its the second surrender vote in which 3 members want to quit + there isnt a reasonable expectation that we pull it out. Sometimes I straight up ask my team if they are willing to wait a bit and see if we come back or to just surrender. I personally hate surrendering but I sacrifice that if some of my teammates are genuinely having a shitty time. Unless its ranked. Fuck that I will never surrender in ranked. I dont lose extra LP if its a long game and If we come back its worth it.

I will be honest here, I've been more than happy to surrender a number of times. Sometimes I. happy to discover I was wrong.

But there is one occasion I will never surrender for. If a teammate is being toxic and trying to bully everyone into surrendering, yeah that tilts me, buckle up for a long defeat.

This situation is iff-ish for me, in regards to this topic, because on one hand, you wouldn't want to be stuck in a game with that player, so you'd maybe want to agree with the ff vote. But on the other hand, you wouldn't want them to feel like they "won with their toxicity", so you'd want to punish them by not agreeing to the terms. It's almost a catch-22.

I don't know what makes some people think " ok we are 0-382 they got all our towers and we have one inhib up, i got 1 shot by a cait for even attempting to walk outside my base her q does 2,043 dmg per hit and they have the past 17 dragons and baron and we have 2 afks but i feel like we can win so i will press no on this surrender and so will my buddy "

like yes at this point i'm being held hostage the worst is when your team is 0-30 in 15 min everyone decides to surrender but one [Exsplicit] and you are forced to fight a losing battle for about 10+ min

like when will people learn NO WE WONT WIN STOP BEING SELFISH AND THINKING ABOUT YOURSELF I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ANYMORE NEITHER DOES THE REST OF THE TEAM AS A RESULT WE WILL PLAY EVEN MORE BADLY THEN WE ALREADY WERE

Oh? And you don't think selfish this way? Atleast 2 people in your team refuse to surrender, so there is that.

Some of this hostage situation garbage would be solved if Riot would just implement a proper Majority Vote... A 3 to 2 vote for Surrender IS A MAJORITY VOTE. I do get tired of the 4 to 1 requirement to end a game via surrender. It has never made any sense to me since I began playing. (And I've been playing for 7 years...) Some people just think they can solo carry a game, even when the enemy has had 3 Barons, our base is in shambles, there's been 2 surrender votes already, we all lost lanes, and we've missed every dragon. But no, please continue this lost game and make us all have to suffer so we can report you.

I mean come on... I have had a FEW games where the above scenario was true, and we still (by some fucking miracle) turned it around. But the stress level to get to that point is just beyond worthwhile. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and admit when a game is over. Yeah, there's a chance you could turn the tides, but the odds aren't great. Just take the loss. It's Normal Draft or Blind Pick. Not a huge loss if you surrender in either one of those queues...

One sentence can explain exactly why they will never do 3/2 surrenders.

A 2 man can carry a game.

You get a solid Orianna Malphite combo you can turn a game so fast with a single team fight.

I feel you on a spiritual level on this. Not only does it happen to me every few games, but I just watched one of my favorite youtubers, Foxdrop, hold a game hostage with two afks because "he wants to keep having fun". It was on his foxdrop plays account, and he was playing Ezreal jungle. It's selfish, unfair, and really bm to do that to your team.

i made a thread about this i think a month ago i got downvoted..

but its one thing to be "optimistic... its another thing thing to be completely oblivious"

and yeah i know its entirely possible for the enemy team to intentionally throw. i had a game TODAY where we for all intensive purposes "won" the game

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2608399334/207008136?tab=overview

16k gold lead at 28 min.. it was over... but instead of ending.. (which we had the full ability to do by just grouping

hiemer keeps trying to 1v4 and ziggs goes to push bto while we are at baron.. and the enemy team HAS VISION OF US

i mean the onyl reason i even WENT for baron was becuase, guess what... im a full build, im nidalee, im about to become worthless for the remainder of the game.

so yeah the enemy team (or your team) can intentionally throw the game

but i i surrender when it impossible for MY team to win the game...

if the only way for you to win a game is for your opponents to CHOOSE not to win, because they are TOYING with you.. then yeah its over..

Yeah. Except then there's those people who surrenders after 1 tower gets taken. Or after they got ganked 2 times. Or when the score's completely even, but after a team fight lost they wanted to throw in the towel. I actually had one of those, when we were actually ahead, and after 3 of our champs were killed in a team fight, they voted to surrender, and the surrender actually went through. Like lmao.
