Can we tone down sonas Q?

The range and damage output on this instant cast lock on poke is kinda absurd..along with her sustain heal..I can deal with the damage, if we just tone back the range on that football field of lockon poke

Her Q damage is noticeably lower since the "mini-rework", but her passive is slightly stronger.

Sona could see minor nerfs, but if the Q damage is touched further, I don't think she would be that viable as a "poke" champion. If Sona can't zone and keep enemy ADC and Supports low enough to second guess an early all-in then she is pretty useless. An early death in a Sona lane makes it so that her poke is pretty harmless. The only reason it feels potent is that a lot of players max q very early so that the damage stays high.

She has no early escapes and is easily killed by an early gank. The speed boost you level up typically at 4 and then the ultimate is sometimes used as a disengage. She needs to have high early damage so that players need think about whether an early all-in on an immobile champ is worth it.

If Sona deals no early damage, there would be no question as to when to try to kill Sona. I would camp the bottom lane as a jungler and kill her repeatedly pre-6.

But if you can kill Sona but risk dying in the process due to her early damage the trade may not be worth it just to kill a support. If she had no early kill potential via damage she would be a pretty poor support: One that lacks good disengage and early escapes early and one that is extremely squishy.

She is similar to Zyra, except Zyra has better early disengage AND early damage, but lower in-lane sustain.

I think she has a high win rate at the moment because of her viability as the game goes on, rather than her early poke damage.

Pre-rework, I could deal enough damage to make the ADC leave lane. Now, I can't nearly as often. However, I do feel more useful as the game goes on.

She also has mana issues despite building mana intensive items.

Honestly, I would be more inclined towards nerfing either her Q range or her heal.

same here

altought i do want her Q range to be 600-850 or 550-850 instead of 0-850, for counterplay(without making it a skillshot) while giving a visual for her Q when it's up (like rengar passive).

If they did that, they would have to buff the damage since to make that at all functional the minion targeting would need to be removed.

of course, right now the damage is low because of low counterplay.

I was fighting sona once, I didn't have that much of a problem.

This is the best argument I have ever read.

Why? Shes either maxing the poke or heal, so one is going to suck. Just pick blitz or thresh and all in her when vulnerable, she is so squishy. IIRC she has the least starting health in the entire game

Her W heal and her E speed boost are the most broken bullshit atm. Her q dmg was toned down.

Its base damage is 40 at rank 1, what do you want them to tone it down to? Q without the AA after is already one of the weakest spells in the game and the AA is inherently risky.

or just not make her shit auto targeted requiring no skill whatsoever

I'd prefer it if they nerf that too rather than nerfing her buffing/healing/shielding. I'd like a world where Sona's main strength is buffing allies rather than taking off a chunk of someone's health with Q/Power Chord/Lich Bane.

Don't nerf the range. Nerf the damage on the Q, but increase the damage on the AA.

You want Q to do less than 160 damage.... at rank 5....

Okay I guess.

The range is actually pretty short already. It sometimes looks long because the projectile speed is slow and once the animation has started, it will follow you out of range, but she had to be quite close to you to initiate the cast (then you probably both backed away from each other).

If it hit the full range instantly like Lucian Q, then you'd never see it look like it hit from halfway across the lane.

As for the idea that she is "no skill" that people who haven't played her keep bringing up, Sona doesn't aim her skills in the traditional sense, she aims them by positioning. As one of the squishiest champions in the game. If you doubt that this requires skill, try it and see, I promise you will feed.
