A little love for the support players.
Often times the work of a good support goes vastly unnoticed, so I have an idea. If your character is actively boosting the stats, shielding, or healing another champ, and that champ gets a kill, even if you did no damage directly, you should get an assist. When it comes to champs like Lulu and Soraka, i'm far to busy throwing heals, shields, and stat boosters down to try to do any direct damage myself. It'd be a waste to get an auto in if I can keep a teammate or two alive. That being said its extremely frustrating to see at the end of a long hard fought game, only six assists next to my name, even thought it is only through my shields, heals, and buffs, that my team got a good chunk of their kills.
Aside from that, I think there should be two new stats added to the stats page of the post-game lobby. Allies HP Shielded/Blocked by Shield, and Allies HP healed. There is already an HP healed section, but passives, potions, and life-steal all add to this, so I think there should be one that focuses on the restoration of an allies health rather then your own. Having these two stats visible would make the work a utility support does more visible, and allow the support player to see just how big of an impact he or she made on the battle.
Lastly, an Assisted Damage stat would also be nice to see though i think it may be a little less doable. If you boost an allies attack speed (like lulu's W), their on hit damage (like Nami's E), or provide bonus damage (Ardent censor), the added damage that they deal while these are active could be calculated and shown as an Assisted Damage Dealt stat.
Just a thought.
