Hey Riot can Soraka mains at least get a comment before her rework goes through?
Sorry if that sounds passive aggressive but even the Morde mains at least got some context before his rework.
Personally Raka has been pretty much the single champ keeping me on league for a while now and I've loved her since the rework. I knew she was leaning on the too strong side but I was hoping a few more rounds of nerfs would make her weak enough that the real Raka's could play her in peace.
If you've gotta change her I guess it's your game, but I think it's worth stopping for a second and thinking about whether this accomplished what you want to do in the first place. Do you just want to decrease Raka's play and win rate? Well this change will probably do both so cheers. Do you want to make Raka a more interactive champion who has to engage the enemy team to get the full benefits of her kit? If that was the goal then I think it's kind of obvious these changes are counter productive.
Couple reasons why I think that's true;
- An easier to hit q that does not reward hitting multiple champs means that overall Raka's already low mechanical skill cap just got lower.
- Mana and health over time benefit poke comps almost exclusively. I general unless already at full health Raka will want to avoid engages for as long as possible because the combination of alignment transferring on heal and the fact that even keeping it on yourself the whole time isn't as good hitting two people on live. Frantic healing that was the most fun part of Raka's kit will be replaced with more safe and now easy back lining, which was the the least healthy part of Raka's kit because it made stalling the fight as long as possible optimal strategy
- You could argue that this offers the team a chance to counterattack during Raka's "off time" but this focuses all the action on the other team. It does not fix Raka's passive gameplay it just provides an answer to it
- You are not isolating a single problem. In medicine you only remove or add one medicine at a time so that you can isolate effects. Likewise if you must mess with Raka's kit it's not wise to combine it with a nerf to her heal. At least give us time to adjust or something.
- I genuinely don't know why number nerfs are not an option. Reducing Raka's range or increasing her heal cost (in either health or mana) would definitely balance her
- There are definitely better options that are just as easy but encourage more interactive or risky (rather than passive or safe) Raka play. A) Make initial heals significantly more expensive while subsequent heals on the same champ are reduced in cost (to counter Raka's habit of keeping everyone full health all the time and encourage spam healing low allies) B) make self heals act like thresh souls where after hitting a Q at long range Raka must come in close for her health (encouraging her to approach the enemy or ask for engages) C) make alignment have multiple stacks and transfer those stacks one at a time on heals (has most of the benefits of the current change but with smarter Q use and does not inherently gut her active teamfighting potential) D) Remove the slow on Q, reduce it's cool down to the heal cool down, and reduce it's self heal by an appropriate amount
If you read all this I love you.
Riot, I'm not asking you to respond here specifically, but context somewhere and a forum we can talk this out are perfectly reasonable things to ask for
