Why are you so annoyed by meta slaves?
I'm a Taliyah main. Ever since her release, untill I stop playing the game. No nerf, nor change will stop me.
So why are we treating playing the meta like it's a war crime or something? If someone wants to just play whatever's strong at the time, let them do it. Although I personally have a somewhat limited pool of champs I play out of, I can sympathize with people who switch around what they play depending on the meta. There's nothing wrong with not being attached to a single champion.
And no, not everyone does this, either; that's just a huge exaggeration. If anything, I see more people glorifying off-meta builds than I see adhering to it.

Its not so much that they are meta slaves its their sad pathetic nerd being that needs every advantage real or imagined to try and feel superior to others.
They are sad and beating someone in a game is all they have. God forbid they lose to a champ they feel is OP which is every champ they lose to.

I don't care if people only like to play champions when they're strong and popular, just don't front like u main them and know everything about them

It has been a long time since I last saw Irelia, Akali or Karma in top lane being meta.

Regardless of the meta, I generally stick to mages; these are my top 7 regardless of:
Meta slaves are annoying, but people are trying to climb. Regardless of being in the LCS or not, they rank to try and climb. If people didn't do that, League would not be popular right now. Maybe they like playing op champions.
It's a video game. No one will care what rank they were in a few years, so why care what people play???

Mastery 7 Syndra, Kat, Quinn. All before they were this strong Finished getting mastery 7 Nid before she was gutted Mastery 7 Fiora was easy

I've always wondered this. Most of the top picks are actually really boring with the exception of Lee and Jhin. What is driving these players, primarily the ones that aren't in higher elo brackets?
i dunno i started doing malz supp way before lcs, as in right after they reworked him. I was a troll and lcs does it and im copying them ......gtfo. Now im doing j4 supp, why becuase it works and is fun. More or less like leona minus i can still engage leo cant if she misses her e. I give attack speed she does not, i have a shield and slows she has no shield and cant slow. Sameish type of ult. it works i explain why people dont listen and all they have to say is he isnt a supp so on and so forth, i know not much of a argument on their part.
I just play who I enjoy playing...if they happen to by in the Meta then all the better for me I guess but if I like playing them then I'll do better all around IMO. If you can't enjoy a champ, even if they are "OP" then there's no point playing them. Malz, MF, Velkoz (to name a few strong supports) are strong in this meta but never enjoyed playing them so just won't,

Not gonna lie I metaslave sometimes just to test out how OP something is at the moment. Most people just want the free wins brought on by playing the new OP pick.
Then theres me, who takes Aatrox adc and wins....
The meta is simply the champions with the best effort-to-benefit ratio. Why handicap yourself when plenty of the so-called 'meta' champions are just as fun and give you the opportunity to make a real impact on the game.
Believe it or not, winning is fun. Having a good game is fun. Either be a one-trick and 100% master that champion, or be a metaslave and play the game in its current form. It's not viable to play stuff like Vayne in a lethality meta where you're losing 2/3rds of your HP before you ever land an auto attack.
The meta is simply the game in it's current form. Adapt or die. Point of transition, powerspikes, current itemization. All of these things dictate the meta and there's not a damn thing you can do about it unless you're innovative enough to formulate a viable response to that meta.
