does Leaverbuster have serious consequences?

I'd just like to know cus I got out of a game with a snobby lissandra who had to leave at 40 minutes in because "im bored" or something like that

If it were a promo i'd be more mad but i was at 90 LP, furthest i've gotten to climbing out of my rank which is sad but still progress. Sorry if I seem salty i just would like to know what the system does so I can be satisfied.

Ys it does and these forums are ltitered with qq rant threads over people getting hit because they want to leave and got punished for it.
