Heimer's Passive: The Worst Invisible Power

GhostOfShrimpmas··7 votes·1,586 views

So, with all the Invisible Power pruning that's been going on, is Heimerdinger's passive ever going to get changed? For those of you who don't know what it does, here's the full text:

Heimerdinger grants nearby allied champions and H-28G Evolution Turrets 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 health regeneration per 5 seconds.

This ability is one that will never be noticed. It's moderately strong, over a very long period of time, but it will never actually impact a fight, and thus, it's one whose power will never be appreciated. It will never change how you play the game.

No one plays Heimer because they like his passive. Hell, not everyone even knows what it is, because it's so unnoticeable.

Pfft. It was way cooler when it actually healed the turret. Not Heimer's turrets. The lane turret.

20 minutes later...

Any minute now, this turret will heal up... Aaaannnnyyy minute now.....

Later finds out the turret healing was removed. Much, MUCH later....

This was a point of contention when he was reworked. A different, they looked for a more interactive or noticeable passive, but didn't found anything that was both cool and simple, so they left it in Heimer's kit.

I would say that the passive is moderately useful, as Heimerdinger revolves around setting a strong point for him and his alies. A health regen aura for his passive seems reasonable.

The problem isn't that it's not useful, but that it doesn't impact gameplay. It's just as engaging a gameplay mechanic as Janna's old global passive.

There's plenty of (invisible) power in his current passive to make room for a new, more noticeable one. It would just be a matter of condensing the current constant flow of power into distinct moments of impact.

As a crude example, they could have damage (possibly limited to champion damage) from turret lasers trigger healing for allied champions (and the firing turret) within the turret's AA range. Noticeable? Check. Doable within the power budget of his current passive? That all depends on the healing ratio, which would be easily tunable.

As opposed to your opinion that giving him a noticeable passive would necessitate nerfs elsewhere?

Hell, even just having the healing as burst once every 5 seconds would significantly increase its noticeability without meaningfully impacting its power or even necessitating changing the numbers.

Something can be game impacting without being readily noticeable as being game impacting. That is rather the very definition of 'invisible power'.

(bolding added)

True, the OP suggests that Heim's passive will never impact a fight, but not because it is not powerful, rather because the power is drawn out over a long duration. It doesn't 'impact' individual fights, just entire games.

Go back and read the OP. The premise therein is that it is not impacting individual fights, but that it is impacting games.

Step 2 is admitting that you've built your entire argument upon faulty premises.

sry trash, your still wrong. notice i "/" when sayign game impaciting/ team fights.

Man you should go back to school.

Another example of why no matter how good or bad your point is, your 7 year old way of saying anything makes you easy to ignore and downvote.

You could be the only person in this entire thread being correct (Which you aren't) and it wouldn't matter, because you are acting like a little angry kid calling people "trash" and insulting people who don't agree with you.

There is a difference between debating a point, and throwing a hissy fit and being defensive over a differing opinion.

actually i stated a fact that you have to trade something for something thing else. If it is not game impacting/ fight impacting and you want something else that is, have to draw that power from something else. This is called a fact, i know that it is hard for you to get the concept.

Your point isn't completely wrong, but the dick way you state it sure does make it easy to completely ignore your entire point and downvote you.

Honestly it could be as simple as having an indicator around anyone in range for the healing and it would be noticeable. Then again that could cause other issues, like him not being able to hide in a bush near anyone, etc. but it was just a basic off the top of my head idea.

Sure it impacts gameplay just not in the way you want to define gameplay. This game involves alot more than pew pew pew i mashed my 4 buttons RAWR the gameplay! His passive is a huge part of why he is a beast laner like a rock you just can push out of lane. Pretty sure that passive applies to himself it also applies to your actual TURRETS so hiemer eessentially is like an seige or anti seige engine and his passive contributes to that.

OverpoweredSoap2 votes

I'm pretty sure his passive is in the same boat as Zyra's was.

They left it alone because everything else in the kit was strong, so they didn't want to give them too strong of a passive.

It'd be kinda hard to make a new passive for him without breaking him.

50000000000000002 votes

Honestly that passive should be part of his Q (turrets). Some people play Heimer support for this reason among others, but it's so difficult to notice.

the donger is a sustain champ, turrets+passive, so its natural

it also makes support-donger surprisingly good, with passive you and the adc literally can go without potions, so with potions you become impossible to out-sustain

Except his passive doesn't heal himself (it did, but it doesn't anymore) so it only impacts the ally, not Heimer himself.

Still good, just clearing that up was all. It heals everyone but heimer.

At least it isn't his old passive that also healed towers :P

It doesn't technically heal himself, but he does have an absurdly large natural health regen to account for what it should if it did affect himself. He has almost twice the natural health regen of the second highest champ.

He actually has THE highest current HP per 5. I wasn't disputing that, just your post insinuated it was because of his passive he was regening so much, as that was what you were specifically talking about.

Wasn't trying to argue or anything, just didn't know if that was what you actually meant, and as someone above mentioned they still thought Heimer healed towers (not now, but well after his rework), I was trying to clear that up was all.

Linna Excel1 votes

Health regen isn't that powerful early on. Still, I think I'd be happier with an aura like that on a proper support. Maybe a paladin type bruiser.

I have no idea what you're trying to say. Skarner, Varus, and Alistair have very noticeable passives, Fiora's is being changed next patch, and Fizz's ability to ignore unit collision is pretty significant.

Fiddlesticks and Amumu have awful passives, that's true.
