Juggermaw won't work anymore

Before the remake (and revert) Kog had old Trinity, the un-nerfed BorK, and his old un-gimped Ult to provide him with a powerful mid-game spike. Kog wasn't the strongest champ late game, but with IE and a pair of Dancers the raw stats he was tossing around late game were pretty intense.

Since then, Kog has lost nearly all of those tools. He doesn't really hit his stride anymore until the deep late game. Without that crazy mid-game power spike to co-ordinate team fights and skirmishes around, the Juggermaw comp completely falls apart. For Juggermaw to work, Kog must have a very powerful mid game and a solid late game. His team needs its damage to kick in when team fights start happening, or the whole thing is totally pointless.

Look, Riot, it's pretty clear you guys don't have a very solid grasp on what made Juggermaw actually work. And I don't fault you for it. The number of people with extensive experience playing Kog is... minimal. To say the least. Kog mains know our champ. Talk to us. Please. We can help you guys hash something out. We can identify potential issues. We can provide ideas and insights into Kog's nuances. You just have to work with us this time instead of acting unilaterally.

Riot's more worried about what everyone else other than Kog'Maw mains are saying about the champion. To be honest us Koggy mains might have a little bit of a biased opinion about Kog'Maw...

You'd think Kog Maw mains, directly effected by all the nerfs and item changes, would have the right to say the most about whats going on due to the fact that Kog Maw mains play Kog Maw quite often.

Lets base it off what you're saying though; Kog is currently sitting at .53% pick rate (that's 53 out of 10,000 games) [THAT IS LESS THAN KALISTA BTW]. He has the 2nd lowest win rate at 46.09% which means out of those 53 games you encounter him, he's only going to win 24 of those games (probably due to feeding). So what does anyone else say about Kog? Honestly I haven't seen anything good coming from him at all lately.

Also, your win rate with Kog doesn't reflect what your user name says. Might as well give it to me

Lol the name's a joke. I just have it because I play a decent amount of Koggy in normal games.

I don't trust Riot, they clearly are clueless when it comes to Kog'Maw.

"Oh hey you know what Kog needs, despite being a late game hypercarry? An incredibly strong 1-2 item powerspike and a really good mid game by shoving all the power of his Q onto his W, what's the worst that could happen?"

"Uh sorry guys, Kog's rework is too broken. We're scrapping it."

No shit it was broken, you broke Kog'Maw the second you destroyed his Q. But it wasn't the rework, it was your terrible balance decisions during the course of the rework that made him over the top. Once the gimmick of "omg 5.0 attack speed!" wore off, people forgot Kog existed because the early game dominance of Thunderlords MF/Lucian was too overpowered and overbearing.

Alright sorry for the kinda necro but Juggermaw still kinda works. Case in point: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2327691322/212289088?tab=overview It's more of a tank'maw but the concept still is there

Bruiser Kog has always worked decently. I was sort of well known for it over in Dominionland. And it sorta works on Rift, too. It was quite a bit better before his Q got turned into percentile shred and Thorn got nerfed, but that's neither here nor there.

Mostly I'm taking issue with the core niche Riot has been arguing Kog is supposed to fill. That niche only worked because Kog had one of the strongest mid-game power spikes of any Marksmen (when it worked) and he didn't drop off late game like the early-dominate Marksmen do. If Kog's damage doesn't kick in by mid game, there's no real point to build nothing but utility around him since that's when team fights and skirmishes begin in earnest.

Riot could still salvage Juggermaw if they know what they're doing. More base damage on his W and R to make up for the loss of damage on Trinity and BorK could probably patch things up. But given how incoherent Kog's kit is (and has pretty much always been) I still think a more in depth rework focusing him on being THE damage amp Marksmen would have the greatest positive impact.
