Verbal Toxic vs Action Toxic : Why are they not equal ?

PhantomDark03·5/28/2015, 6:09:15 AM·5 votes·921 views

Riot is banning the toxic in chat , what about the toxic of action ?

for example , outright trolling , going afk's , intentional feeding , stealing the cs of the carry , harassing with action , etc etc etc ...

... but most important , undermining the effort to win and time spend of your other 4 teammates by typing "lol" in chat every minute you die when 0-16 at 20 minutes ,

we all know what am talking about .

that toxic player that is uncarryable and goes in a rank games to mess with people with action .

I got ban for being toxic in one game , yes , i said to this guy that he was a trash ADC because he was . he was feeding intentionally and "lol" in chat when all other 4 of us were trying to win the game .

am not crying or being immature . I just think is Bs because most of us dont play for free . We have put money in our accounts and this is absurd .

If riot wants to fix the toxic , riot needs to fix the whole problem , not just chat logs . Afks should get banned too . If a player is being reported for intentionally feeding , they need to get banned too .

The action that riot has taken is "put your tonge up your rear and spend money" .

This ban is an actual wake up call for me . This silly game is a waste of time , not worth 1 more second .

Afks should get banned too.

AFKs are immediately and automatically punished by LeaverBuster. I do wish they would smack people down harder for rage-quits (and they've talked in the past about trying to do this), but it's hard to tell apart from just getting randomly DCed unless there's a pattern of them doing it over and over.

If a player is being reported for intentionally feeding , they need to get banned too .

They do, at least if they get reported enough. I can't even remember the last time I saw a true intentional feeder (although I don't play much Ranked). Losing lane hard is not intentional feeding.

I've seen people punished for intentional griefing as well (like using Anivia walls to trap teammates). Some hilarious Tribunal moments when people would try to contest those. (Yeah, I'm sure that players on both teams falsely reported you five times for griefing as Anivia. Uh huh.)

Riot isn't psychic, and they'll never be able to completely eliminate trolling/griefing, because a lot of it is from a player who's fed up and having a bad game or bad day and just goes over the edge. It's generally not the same people doing it over and over -- there ARE some people who do this, but they rack up tons of reports and get banned relatively quickly. I'm not saying they shouldn't try to do more, but it's a hard problem.

Two reasons: one, chat can be proven, whereas unless they actually admit to it toxic action is virtually indistinguishable from severely unskilled action. Two: while annoying, toxic action can only ruin a game. Verbal abuse can really hurt those suffering from depression already.

people have bad games. sometimes a "lol" in chat is akin to the dry chuckle people make when nothing is going right - you miss cs, you miss your skillshots, you lose fights you should have won, you get caught out. sometimes all you can do is laugh to get through the slump.

getting caught out multiple times isnt intentionally feeding (or else any time you die would be intentionally feeding - you CHOSE to leave the fountain? and you DIED, knowing full well it can happen? INTENTIONALLY FEEDING!) Intentionally feeding requires knowing the intent of the player, and getting into the minds of an individual is hard.

stop being so sour and move on. its a game that you could play without paying a cent. if you chose to pay money, its for an advantage you can gain through grinding (which there is no limit) or for aesthetics.

and i highly doubt you got banned for being toxic in one game. it takes a lot more than one report for a ban.

And i looked up your match history to see what the big fuss was about. lets go through the points:

  1. your team wasnt doing extremely well. only one player on your team was doing well - the Annie, who went 17/10/9.
  2. The Lucian was the lowest ranking of the entire game (Bronze 4). The Jinx was the highest (Silver 5).
  3. Lucian wasnt 0-16 20 minutes in. he was 1/5 20 minutes in.
  4. You werent doing well. you were 0/5/4 as a jungle Nunu, you did the least damage in the entire game (even behind a thresh support). you had 8 wards placed (7 regular, 1 pink), and you didnt get a sweeper (you have no excuse for placing so little). it seems that all you did was farm - 100+ lane minions, 96 monsters from your jungle, 26 from the enemy jungle. you participated in 11% of the kills - behind even the feeding Lucian, who participated in over 30%. you never upgraded your jungle item with the enchantment. you bought 2MR items when the only magic threat was a RoA Chogath and a Devourer+Wits end Warwick. You bought 1 armor item (an iceborn gauntlet at that) against a team with a Talon and a Jinx. And you took Barrier+Smite.

Chat can be easily identified, it's nearly impossible to tell the difference between intentionally feeding and laning against a challenger smurf,

Bro I just Uninstaller the game. I don't think it's worth playing, at least not from my experience. This game can be so frustrating it really ruins it for me. I really tried though and I spent $300 on the game, not to mention 200+ hours playing. I'm sure that a week frkm now I will be glad about my decision to uninstall. I will have more time for other things and won't feel that constant frustration I got on half matches.

It is easier to determine if someone is toxic through chat then it is through actions. All you need to do is have a program look for offensive words(curse words, racist terms, etc) and it is easy to give out punishments based off of what you said. Maybe they think they're cool or impressive using them, but it is really just annoying and depressing. It also ruins other players experiences. It also helps create a toxic environment, since I feel most situations escalate AFTER someone says something, not before. With the punishments, it will force people to learn tact and try and be more polite with each other, just like you would have to be in a normal environment with random people you don't know and need to get along with. It may be a concept that is hard for younger people to understand, but I'm fine with it. Also I'd rather have a lesser skilled player on my team who is trying their hardest then someone who is slightly above average talking crap to a "baddie" on my team and making my gaming experience a lot more depressing. It is those games that make me want to FF at 20, even IF we can win because their toxicity is so bad that I don't want to endure another minute with them.

It is a lot easier to look for curse words or verbal abuse in a system then to look at someones KDA/stats to determine what they were doing. Intentionally feeding isn't so easy. I can go 0/10/8 on Bard and it can be considered as "feeding", but it was because I was trying to ward and grant vision for my team. The ADC could have a perfect score of 3/0/5 and have a ton of CS, but all they did was split push all game and FF when surrender came up. It isn't as easy to tell based off of stats because not everyone plays the same and/or has the game knowledge to even know what to do. It isn't right for them to get punished from RIOT basically say "man, you sucked that game, here is a ranked ban". It is a REALLY good way to turn people AWAY from your game. I personally feel that people who aren't so good at a game and know it are playing it because they enjoy it, so implementing a punishing system like this isn't the right way to go.

Also this is a f2p game. You don't have to spend ANY money, so you expecting more special treatment just because you gave them money isn't right. Also, it is easy for you to yell and say "RIOT should do this", but is it in their best interest to do it? What are the pros/cons of changing/creating this system. When should they implement it? How long will it take? Will the changes create other problems that make this change worthless?

Extreme Troller5/28/2015, 11:19:42 AM1 votes

last game, i killed the ennemy adc. and someone and my team reported me for killstealing. that's why we can't ban people for trolling action. Because of noobs like you that say " ban people that steal cs and buffs" and end with 3kills and 17death and whine because a 17/1 adc steal your buff. people that do that never troll. the troll is always the one that say report xxxx please. They think they are better, only see one way to play the game and irriting everyone.

i hope people like you will be perma banned.

stealing cs and buffs

To be fair, they can't technically enforce that without breaking the whole "we don't enforce the meta" policy thingy they have on reporting. A support can take cs (although it's stupid to overdo it, for the obvious reasons) and Riven can take blue (it does lower cooldowns, but... that's it). Any other trolling those people do, however, Riot's hands are no longer tied.

But otherwise, your post is spot-on. +1
