Am I supposed to have to beat each difficulity twice to advance to the next tier

Edit: Im tlaking about Odyssey. And nvm, I just lost captain mode and got onslaught for some reason?

Yeah as of recently, mmr has shifted in a way to where it's coin toss of who has the smurf or who has the inter. It kinda really depends.
It actually takes a couple minutes to unlock the next level after you beat one for some reason.
Well that is kinda the point, the matchmaking bot puts you up against higher skill player so it knows what your generic skill area is. If you get put up against gold people as a silver player, then the bot probably thinks that you are skillful enough to go up against and beat gold people. If you fail multiple times to get from S1 to G5 then your skill level most likely belongs in the silver area, you can improve of course, so the bot puts you up against harder enemies so you get a challenge and can hopefully prevail to prove you belong in the next tier.
