Solo lane feeding balance.

SO here's the thing. Last season, with junglers and jungle assassins being a lot stronger, even if a solo laner got fed, the jungler could still try shut them down. These days, instead, if a solo laner gets fed, absolutely nobody stands in their way. They'll do what they please. If they get far ahead enough, they will just bulldoze anything in their way, with almost no counterplay.

I noticed all this today while playing Kha'Zix jungle (my main), vs. a lot of Zed and Talons. If the match was more or less balanced, I was able to heavily snowball in my lanes' favour. BUT. If a Zed or Talon mid got fed three kills... it was over at 6 minutes. Literally. They would not only be un-gankable by a jungler that is 2 lvls behind (junglers can't really compete with solo laners' levels, especially if they are fed), but they would also start roaming around the map deleting my other lanes too. I felt extremely powerless in those situations. And it happens even if you play tank junglers.

Onto what I think would be an appropriate solution: I think that anyone who gets fed on any side of the map should not automatically become an unstoppable force. I think junglers are too weak to turn games around right now, even if they are skilled and outplay enemies. But I might be biased as that is my main role. I think we call all agree though, that people should have counterplay options. And having fed Talon walking around the map one-shotting groups of three people with an ult just because he was laning versus a noob does not seem like a lot of counterplay possibility to me. I hope our good old frined at Rito address this. Oh, and this applies to solo lanes tanks BTW. Try kill afed Garen/Cho'Gath? Good luck with that. They'll sit for entire minutes under your nexus turrets while they kill you. So yeah, cut on the solo lanes feeding, or give other people more strenghts, please?

I agree

But the question is, how?

Mid laners scale the best with levels, and kills give gold. A fed mid laner has more levels, higher base damages, and more gold to buy items that they scale with.

We already have a system where people give less gold if they die a lot, so what do you propose?

I'll start by saying that I am not sure bout this, as I'm definitely not a game designer, so anything that I say may just not work. First things first, like I said, I think junglers could use being a higher average level and a bit more gold, so in case something starts going wrong in a lane, they still can try help without super-high risk of dying in it. Then I will admit I am not too sure how the XP gains work for kills, but what I do know is what I've seen to be VERY influential making the solo laners dominate is actually the level advantage, rather than the gold advantage. So they might give less XP for kills. Or, they might reduce minion XP a bit, in order to prevent them from getting super level-fed from the alone lane time after the kill.

Basically I think the big thing is the XP level snowballing, that makes them able to roam and destroy everything. So anything that could prevent that would probably do. 'Cause, you see, they get:

  • Gold from the kill
  • More gold from free farming while the opponent is respawning
  • XP from the kill
  • Lots more XP from being alone in lane So if they get like three kills, this stacks up so much they get two or three levels ahead, roam, and stomp everyone. Like I said, I think they should limit the XP snowballing. That said, I'm just a random dude throwing ideas around. But I always hope they can help.

You need to take a fast clearing jungle. Kha farms way too slowly, thus he has to snowball to win.

The real problem is keeping up farm and EXP later on, when teamfights happen. Laners will usually get a few minutes of solo farm later on; a jungler is lucky to be able to clear 2 camps in-between ganks, objectives and teamfights.

I know Kha is not particualarly great right now. That being said, I do very well with him and stay on the same level with solo laners usually. That is, of course, unless they get fed in lane. The thing is in those game there is no "later on". when the guy snowballs so hard and makes your team go 15-2 at 20 minutes, you can't stop him, and the only sensible option is to surrender.

Really that should simply be handled by the bounty system. If your getting killed repeatedly, you won't be worth much gold. All while the enemy is accumulating a massive shutdown bonus.

If a solo player gets fed, it simply means that you need a team effort to shut them down. That really only becomes a major problem with split pushers. Yet Jax got nerfed, and Zed even lost some of his split push potential.

The bounty system definitely does some work in that regard. But as I said, I feel like the problem lies in the ridicuolus level advantage they accumulate from kills and alone time in lane. They should make sure that they can't just get 3 lvls ahead. Because honestly, when they get a 3 lvls leade or so, unless they are literally stupid enough to 1v5, they will roam and group with other people, and just destroy everyone, and even if somehow you manage to kill them once, they'll still be SO much stronger than everyone else on your team, because of the XP advantage.
