Why AP Champs need NEW CDR items
So most of you are probably thinking "Yeah, this is old news, we know that mages need better CDR options." But have you ever considered why? Why is it that suddenly mages feel this lack of CDR itemization now? Over the past few seasons, this has been a slow but steady trend that most of us haven't noticed until this preseason hit. I think there are a few ways to look at this:
1. Other classes have only been given more and more CDR.
was reworked to have 20%, buff to ADC and bruisers
was added, more for supports
was reworked, more for supports
was added, more for ADC and bruisers
was added then reworked, tons of CDR for ADCs and some assassins
was buffed to 20%, buff to bruisers
was reworked, buff to supports and bruiser/tanks
given CDR
added, buff to supports
2. Mages have steadily lost access to CDR.
- DFG: removed. -10% accessible CDR
- Twin Shadows: removed. -10% accessible CDR
reworked. -20% accessible CDR- Blue buff: Nerfed, -10% accessible CDR
Mages have in return been given only one new way to get CDR:
.
Moving on, I think the key thing to keep in mind for future AP+CDR items is that mages don't want any more CDR+Mana regen items. What mages want and need are items with stats like DFG (high AP and some CDR, and a good passive or active) or BoC (moderate AP, high CDR, good passive or active), NOT another AP/CDR/Mana regen item like morrellonomicon or Athene's.
Some good places to start would be variations off of the Black market brawler items Pox Arcana, Rite of Ruin, and Netherstride Grimoire (minus the mana regen).
is more mage accessible version that gives 10% CDR.
exists rito has to be very careful about manaless CDR items.
+10% flat cdr runes give me 45% cdr soon as i buy sheen codex and boots.
another variation i like to go is to take 15% scaling cdr runes and build magic pen boots and use percesion since without boots and that mastery i lack some early game pen.
