Has anyone tried the Hextech GLP-800?

I haven't seen it a single time in these past 3 weeks. Is it any good or just completely overshadowed by other items?

Protobelt is simply better imo

Its really situational. I build it on long range mages like Ziggs when there's a serious threat of being dived, because it keeps them farther from me for longer than just a dash. I think that's, like, the only real use of the item.

I've barely seen protobelt either.

I think the items are in a weird position because their health components suggest they are geared more to tanks / AP bruisers than to primarily damage-focused mages.

The big problem with the new hextech items in general is that they don't exactly replace anything that already existed for AP characters. Out of item 3001 item 3285 item 3027 item 3040 item 3157 item 3089 item 3165 , it's incredibly hard to find a scenario in which any of the hextech items would be better than them.

When I was playing mid (was a short stint, back to support where I belong) I actually loved the new Hextech items. Sometimes I still went with RoA like on my Veigar and Brand, but on a kite mage like Cass I really loved the new Hextech item over RoA. The Protobelt isn't one I used a ton, but here's a pro-tip, it's pure sex as a lategame item on Galio. I would think most point-blank AoE champs like Kennen and Fiddle could use it as well.

it gets outscaled pretty fast by item 3027 , and the item 3152 is designed for assassins however lacks the ap imo

It's decent on Swain (although probably interchangeable with ROA).
