Playing tanks kind of sux.....

So I like playing tanky champs, some in the jungle and mostly in top lane, but it often ends up being some of the worst fucking games I've ever played....

I mean I almost always win lane, or least I don't feed and get towers, with the occasional TPs to help my team. The problem is 3 of my past 4 games every single other member of my team fed, HARD, like 5 mins into the game it's 10-2 with me having both of those kills from 1v1ing my lane opponent or maybe 1-0-1 after a TP. At this point I literally doesn't fucking matter what I do, if I engage on a fight, I die, if I don't engage a fight, someone gets caught and we all die, or I splitpush and my team dies 4v4 or even 4v3 often enough.

CC'ing one of 4 fed enemy champs just does nothing, especially when my team, all fucking 4 of them, are behind to the point they can't burst down anyone I catch and a lot of the time they just simply don't react and use my engage as a means to run away or even just all individually attack a different fucking enemy.......

I don't fucking get it.... how am I supposed to rank up, or even keep a decent MMR, when I end up in my secondary role in top lane 9 times out of 10 and I have to play a tank cause no one else ever fucking does but never being able to actually do anything cause before the laning phase is even over my team has already fed their asses off and the enemy team is just too built for me to properly tank all the damn damage?

Oh and ofc my team is all yelling at each other, just tilting themselves further, and if I DARE tell them to stay calm or keep their cool cause we can still win if they play more safe and coordinated they then start yelling at me for any number of a thousand reasons idiots like to use in ranked.

I feel like the only times I can ever win anymore is if I play GP top or Aatrox jungle and just help out when I can but focus on scaling to late game and then personally carrying a comeback cause even if we're against a WW or Yi afk jungling they will undoubtedly feed like no other, leaving me almost every single fucking game as the only player strong enough to have any sort of impact, and if I'm not playing someone with lots of damage and/or splitpushing power I just can't force my team to do enough damage on the right targets........

Doesn't really have much to do with the role then, the way you word it, it's your teammates. But you're a teammate as well, don't forget that.

When I'm playing a tank, I usually go for something with utility for these exact situations. Shen, for example, is my go-to pick when I'm going top lane. I bring Nautilus up there sometimes too. Been looking at Sejuani as well, but I fear her mana costs and weak early may seal her fate. A tank should be big, tough and have a lot of opportunity to disrupt the enemy team so your carries can do the dirty work.

When I'm playing a tank, usually in top lane. I try to be the vocal support. I strive to be the "commander" of the team, so to speak. The shotcaller. While me and whoever has the misfortune of facing me in the lane are busy with the constant slapfests I force, I guide my team. Tell them the spawn timers on objectives, ping out junglers and warn people when they're overextending. All the while I'm keeping my enemy laner busy and on their toes, it takes a bit of practise but it's utterly satisfying and very effective when you get the hang of it.

If after this you still feel like tanks are the thing keeping you down, just don't play tanks, they're obviously not your thing. If you're forced into top lane play a carry, such as Quinn, Vi, Gangplank, Yi, Trynd...

Like you said, you feel your GP is a force to be reckoned with. Make it so, make them fear your Gangplank. Make them tremble at the sight of Vicarious117 picking Aatrox. I'm a notorious Shen player among my friends, and with good reason. I mained him for 3 seasons. Know your champ inside and out.

And perhaps most importantly: QUIT BLAMING YOUR TEAM.

I get what you're getting at, I used to be the exact same. But don't forget you're still in the game, too. It's not "Our team vs their team". It's "You and your team vs their team." There is always room for personal improvement, and it's very important to look at your own play first and think "How could I have made this go better?" Maybe you had just used a cooldown you shouldn't have, maybe you picked Tryndamere where a better pick would've been Renekton. Keep looking to improve yourself and you'll be climbing. Blame the rest and you'll be stuck.

Easier said then done dude. Ever try being the "voice" of a team that's already yelling at each other 5 mins into the game? It doesn't work, they don't want to listen, and asking them to calm down or something along those lines only ever makes it worse. The ONLY way to win with teams like this is be strong enough to get them back into the game so they calm the fuck down naturally. If you try to "lead" them while they're feeding and bitching at one another you'll become a target for their frustrations as well and then they'll never listen to you even when you catch them up.

I mean what's the most common answer you hear from higher elo players in terms of dealing with raging teammates? MUTE THEM and carry them without tilting along side them! And do you know why they all say this? Cause they WILL NOT listen to anyone else until they see a chance of victory through one or two strong teammates. This is just a fact.

And it's not about me not being able to carry as a fucking tank, how much of my post did you read? Not to be insulting, cause it was a wall, which are sometimes annoying to read, and you seem to have missed a key component of the post.

I mean take Shen then, you're currently 15 - 4, and you have 100% kill participation with a KDA of like 2-1-2 or something, cause your team can't do anything without you. You're definitely strong enough to make a difference, but for example you and your team runs into 3 or 4 enemies in your jungle, so you have more numbers, and you manage to taunt the enemy Kog'Maw who is fed at this point. What do you do if your team DOESN'T focus that Kog'Maw? What do you do if they chase the enemy support Karma spamming her shields or something? You're not gonna kill that Kog'Maw 1v3 usually, maybe not even 1v1 if he's fed enough, you need your damage dealers to blow him up while you hold him in place! But if those damage dealers don't do their fucking jobs then that Kog'Maw ain't gonna fucking die and you will without having to flash away or something!

THAT'S my point, it doesn't matter how much utility you have if your team won't or can't capitalize on it. It's not about "blaming the team," when they're too fucking weak to do their jobs they're just too fucking weak! I'm only stating facts here.

But yeah in the past I've resorted to picking GP top or Rengar jungle (my jungle main of 3 seasons before I started to get harassed in every single game I played if I didn't build full glass cannon) even when my team was also full squish just so I'd have enough damage to snowball myself while everyone else fed. Had a 5s team last season, and I played full tank top laners for them, and it was extremely fun cause I could rely on their damage coming through when I did my fucking job, but in soloQ it just doesn't happen most of the time.... so yeah guess I'm just going back to GP and Aatrox, no matter how much my team rages at me for not picking a tank :P

I know, there's times your team is just... clueless. And being the voice of your team won't always help you, in fact like you said muting people will probably work out for the better oftentimes. If you don't mind me asking, what elo are you in? Not a loaded question, just curious. I don't play ranked personally, and I don't meet people as clueless as the ones you seem to meet all too often.

It seems to me like you've burned out on soloqueue ranked, I suggest you play some normal draft to get your mind off your rank and climbing the ladder. It's still a game, you know. A highly competitive game, but still a game. No game should be sheer frustration. You say you had a 5-man, what happened to make you stop playing with them? It seems like you enjoyed playing 5v5 a lot more than soloqueue.

I'm currently in G3, was P4 before placements, almost made it out of Gold earlier in the season but have been getting this stream of unwinnable games.

Like 4 games in a row we were down double digit kills before my second buffs spawned as jungler or before I even had to back as a top laner, one of those I had a Corki and Gragas duo forget to swap their champs, so they had the wrong masteries and summoners. The absolute worst part, is in a lot of these games we could still win, I'm usually strong enough to carry and if not I can at least force the idiots on the other team to stall out the game until we farm up (not hard to do in Gold and lower), but my team keeps surrendering! Like I say NO cause I'm not a quitter even if the rest of my team is getting COMPLETELY smashed, but when the other 4 just continuously auto-ff I can't do shit, and it keeps happening over and over again.

The thing with our 5s team was we were really only a team of 4 and we just grabbed which ever friend of ours was available, and they were usually the weak link, but we made do with them. Now we can play as 4 but keep getting some complete fool who goes 0/5/0 as Annie mid in 10 mins then afks (actual example). So this repeated frustration has caused one of our main players to just stop playing all that often, at the same time one of the others is in like Commander training for the Navy or something like that, so he's rarely on and very rusty when he does find time so we just play normals since he doesn't want to jump into ranked, and I've also got pretty intense classes right now as well so I'm not even on as often as before, leaving just our one teammate to play alone and over the past few weeks he's just been losing game after game so he's just tilted in general, and he refuses to take a break from the game to chillax. The nail in the coffin though was our main 5th member we liked to grab was lower ranked, low Silver last season so he couldn't play with the Plats on our team unless we did a ranked team game, but this season there are no teams so we can't play with him, and at the same time his roommate just hit lvl 30 this season and they play duoQ all the time but his friend is AWFUL so he's dragged him down to bronze, meaning it'll be even longer before we can play ranked with our friend cause Riot fucked the Qs up this season.

As for me playing normals, I fucking hate normals, they feel like an utter waste of time unless I've got all my friends on and we don't want to play ranked. But as I said my friends aren't on that often and I have no desire to play normals on my own, aren't many champs I want to get better at, I've already got all my mains I enjoy to play, anything else I just won't like as much. I tend to just play my PS4 instead when I need a break, but yeah I do not like playing normals by myself.

lol..............Salty much?

"Salty" is such an overused and childish insult, every unoriginal tard in this community seems to like to use it in every single situation for just about anything.

And no, based on the actual "definition" of the word I am not, I am annoyed that I cannot play a class of champ I enjoy because I'm required to do more then cc and soak damage in order to win because I cannot rely on my teammates to do so, and this observation is based on actual experience.

If I were "salty" I'd be more focused on the fact that my teammates almost always suck, but that's a given and this thread is more about requirements in order to deal with that given and it limits my enjoyment of the game.

Anything actually useful to add? Or just another overused, unoriginal, and misplaced insult?

I understand what you are getting at, but so far I'm looking at 7 losses out of my 10 placements this season. I was Silver 3 Last season, a support main, and I felt the exact same way at the start of this season, but my perspective has changed.

Most of the time, there are far too many factors to count when dealing with a rough loss. It isn't easily boiled down to "This person fed" or whatever. Usually, a game is won in the first 5 minutes because one wrong move demoralizes a team even if there was no real loss. Often times, it's hard for us to see where we went wrong but I always look for what I could have done better. It's easier that way than to nitpick at everything my allies do. And even when I still play solidly, I would rather look at what my enemies had done before considering blaming anyone on my team. Did they get early objectives (Dragon/gank pushes), did they roam often, who were they playing and how?

Either way, you got to look at what you could have done better. You will never change a random, because you will never see the same one more than once, or rarely twice. With that logic, think about it like it was your entire fault your team lost, and then work from the ground up to see how it could have gone. Maybe you needed to apply pressure more. Roam when you were going to go back to lane. As despicable it is, Mastery Taunting can tilt an opposing laner if you are annoying enough. You have to play every card to your advantage. If you feel even then like you are low impact, then try a different role. Even if it is your best role, practice in norms. I played a lot of support last season, but I've started picking up mid because I felt like I could make a bigger impact there.

Sometimes it's best to try out a different role, learn all the tricks with that role, and go back to what you know with new ideas in mind. Having played support loads, I've got great ideas of where to ward for the best vision, and a better map awareness. You'd be hard pressed to gank me mid unless you're a sanic Quinn.

Lastly, try to pick to better influence your team. When you are talking "Tank", I feel like you totally forget Shen, Taric even, exist. Taric top is really strong in this meta (Especially with so many AD mids....WAY TOO MANY AD MIDS), and both of them provide great team utility.

Complaining about issues here in the forums all of us low tier experience every day is futile.

This kind of stuff isn't just happenin just to you, you know. The best way to lessen the pain is to find a team of your own over TeamSpeak or similar.

I never said this was a specific issue for me, in fact I'm fairly certain I made it clear that it was a general issue with soloQ.
