Because of balance...
get out of here. the boards are no place for reason!
But why not give it an effect like TF where it grants vision of the enemy team for just you, unlike TF where he grants vision of enemy champions for his whole team
I'll bite, Rengar has this version of what you propose BUT he doesn't have a long range dash or the vision reduction component that Nocturne has, if on top of it he could choose any target he wanted, the counterplay to his ult would be effectively zero while he could assasinate ANYONE from screens away.
Okay but TF has a 5500 unit tele that allows him vision of the whole enemy team. While nocturne can Ult at max from 4000 units away at max rank (
's E at max rank is 7000 units to give some perspective). So yes, it would be from screens away, but at best maybe from dragon pit to bot/mid.
Basically though, it's a shorter TF ult, that would only grant vision for himself, rather than the whole team.
Another thing that I think might be slightly cool to add some down side to his ult if they gave him vision of the enemy team, would be to apply the debuff to his team aswell. That way the only one that has vision is Noc, making ganking a bit of a trade off. It might not be great in gameplay terms, but it would make his ult a little more balanced if they give him global vision. Just a little thing I think would be cool.

Nocturne is fun, but I think he could use some sort of rethinking to fit his thematic.
Of course, I don't actually want that to happen because so far anytime that's happened it's just ruined the champion for its playerbase.
i think nocturnes q has the potential to be the best spell ever thematically
He can use it as a path? Walk over walls.

Yeah I agree. It's a really awesome spell, but I'm worried that if they so much as look at it they would remove the AD on it because "muh free stats."

Honestly that's what drew me in to Nocturne like 4 years ago. I thought he actually could walk over walls.
Yeah, Spectre has an almost similar ability that can be used to ignore terrain.
In Dota 2.

Yeah I think I saw that when I was interested in Dota 2. Suffice it to say I downloaded the game and got pissed off about how slow and laggy everything felt because of the sheer size of the map, no recall without tele scroll, and turn speed.
I felt the same for like 3 months. Gradually began to adjust to the pace of the game and I enjoy it as much as I enjoy League now. Since I'm playing League less and less I'm playing Dota 2 more and more.

Usually if I quit League I just stop playing video games for good for the most part, coming back to League if only for a couple friends who play it.

They're already doing that: The AP buff to his passive healing.
There's no reason to give it to him other than trying to make him into a Guinsoo's addict. Nashor's is more efficient of an AP item on him.

And if you were around you would hve noticed that I had a thread about how that was literally on of the shittiest things Riot could do to him. That's not rethinking, that's slapping on numbers that don't even go well with his kit.
But yes, that 20% cdr nashors tooth and cheap attack speed might actually be worth considering on him now.
Welp, I now have some respect for you. Can't believe still went through with that change though.
Because the alternatives are worse.
A. Urgot style lockon: if you happen to hover over them in the fog of war, you will fly at them. Can see that going wrong in SO many ways. B. Giant reveal: Going further away from the darkness.
Also, Nocturne is not exactly about darkness; he is about nightmares (being a literal embodiment of nightmares), and darkness just happens to be the fear he portrays the most.
I, uh, totally fear Syndra in a bikini... Like, terrified of it...
I am afraid of Sona in a witch outfit. 2spooky4me.
Because we're not nocturne, for me this is the classic "Why do aliens talk english in movies" kind of argument, it's not for them it's for us.
This is the only response that was needed imo.
Disagree on thr whole noc thing, But I love your name :P gave me a good chuckle.
TF/Noc Shen/Noc Taric/Noc Panth/Noc Ori/Noc
All amazing engage combos.
lol these are all amazing combos. Only one I have played was noc + shen = backline obliterated

one of my favourites was a yorick + zilean bot lane before yoricks ghouls got a movement speed nerf, and when zileans bombs were point and click.
basically yorick would throw down a ghoul, and zilean would put a bomb on him. you could watch the ghoul chase down the enemy adc as he runs away in panic to get out of the blast radius of the bomb. since ghouls and zilean bombs have relatively low cooldows, they could do this over and over, basically preventing the adc from farming.
it was hilarious.
Why does Nocturne, a spirit that originated from the darkness, get blinded?
Especially in blind pick vs another Nocturne.
Why can teemo blind Lee Sin?
Nocturne ult... Graves smokescreen... blind characters... you can't buy 75g stealth wards anymore... clairvoyance removed... can't buy purple wards at full build...
This is just the beginning. Sightstone builds will be nerfed into the ground. Tracker's sabre will only get 1 ward charge.

VIVA LA [insert spanish vision term or something here]
Darkness doesn't mean absence. It's a relative phrase.
Don't think of Darkness being anything but the scarcity of light. Black holes trap light, and we really can't see them.
Fun Facts: If we needed UVB rays in order to see, during the night we would be totally blind. If we used Infrared to see, our eyes would be over-saturated and go numb from the pain.
why can teemo blind lee sin?
Tbh I feel Nocturne has one of the poorest Theme -> Gameplay transitions of any character. His Ult and E feel great, but the rest of his kit just seems so incredibly bland and not make much sense with regards to what someone would imagine it would be to play a murderous, shadowy wraith. He really needs to be given proper attention.
blinded by the light?

xD
Heh...
Doesn't he get vision of all enemy champions when he ults? (Don't play so I don't know)
Nope... That's why people like to run TF/Noct together. The ulti combos are INSANE.
Well then, that's really strange. Seems really weird to have a long range dash ability to an enemy and not gain vision of them. Maybe they thought enemy vision denial was enough already?
Vision denial is an absurdly strong mechanic on its own, especially when contesting objectives. It's extraordinarily easy for a team with Nocturne to sneak in on a baron or dragon attempt and get the first shot off on the enemies. Very strong strategy that works best when coordinated by chat. Would not recommend for soloqueue.
No he doesnt.
He should, IMO, at least linked to the debuff itself, and only vision to himself.
Forget that. Why do Shaco boxes interrupt the dash?
Even the worst of nightmares are scared by children's toys.
So your saying give nocturne ult a tf ult effect to it? sounds pretty OP to me. Sure it would fit his lore and his character better but game play wise it would be totally broke. Running to fog is the one way you can safely avoid nocturnes ult without him jumping to you ad one shot you. Plus a good nocturne player would have the ward coverage or ult with vision to prevent that from happening. just saying
ad one shot you.
what, what nocturne one shots people?
If your building properly yes
its impossible for nocturne to one shot people
cant tell if you're joking, isnt it obvious it would be way too strong....
