Fun Fact: just because you're getting camped, doesnt mean you have to keep pushing and dying...

i see this way to often, my top laner goes in cause his champ is the "stronger 1v1 champion" then dies to the junglers and says "there is nothing i can do im getting camped". please if you get ganked and you KNOW hes camping you, just chill and wait for farm to hit you, you dont have to go for 1v1's. TY EDIT: people seem to think i wasnt killing other lanes, or counter jungling. this post was mainly talking about the ignorance of some people who complain about being camped but keep pushing over and over again expecting something different to happen, that is the defenition of insanity - albert einstein .

Counter fun fact,

If you're the jungler and you see a lane getting ganked and you're nearby, coming to help out isn't a bad idea.

Pro laner counter fun fact, after you die once or twice they're gonna get away with diving you for free so have fun being blamed for "playing too aggressive."

I think the issue is that the wave can get frozen by the enemy top laner after a gank, and then you can be either forced to go up to try to unfreeze it (and often die in doing so) or wait under your tower without farm for minutes. Both of these suck, and it's why I hate playing top lane =P

Good top laners will do this and get a large margin and it forces the enemy to walk up and try to get the wave to bounce back or just stay there and get denied, this is one thing a lot of people don't understand about top lane especially against melee champions it's so easy to freeze against them, so instead of putting your top laner on blast for feeding, take note of minion wave.

Yes, even an unsuccessful gank can get this horrible process started.

Right, because dying and losing cs is better than just losing cs.

Automated Riven4 votes

you actually get more farm by dying then you do by sitting under tower. If you die then the opposing laner shoves the lane and you come back with it reset. If you dont then it gets frozen for 5 minutes and you end up with 28 farm and the opposing laner has 95. I would trade a death over a 70 farm deficit any day.

9Wly9oMl021 votes

Except after killing you they are just going to freeze the lane again lmfao. Typical Riven player: I'm either going 14-3 or 3-14 this game!

Junkο2 votes

Your corpse still gets exp for a while after dying, which is better than being level 3 when everyone else is level 6+ because you aren't allowed to safely get within exp range of the minion wave.

9Wly9oMl021 votes

If you cannot get into range of the minion wave, you should not be playing whatever lane you're playing PvP.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER1 votes

An effective freeze can be done all game until a jungler comes by to help, you can still play it safe and only walk up when you want to but you'll still be down in level and gold which means you can't trade at all in lane.

When lane is frozen either forcefully shove it to their turret by using ranged skills, or take advantage of low number of minions by invading enemy jungle to steal exp from their jungle. This allows for deep warding as well so you have a better idea where their jungle is/will be going.

You won't always be able to do that - Depending on if your character has range or mana constraints. Going to invade the enemy jungle when you're behind top is a really bad idea. You'll probably end up getting caught and dying, especially at higher elos.

Poppy And what if I'm getting camped and dying under my own tower?

flibitydoo39 votes

I think OP fails to understand that camping in 2017 is more like:

you die once to an early gank

the next 15 minutes are you dying under tower to enemies escaping with <100hp without summoners and your jungler being so bad that they continue to farm the jungle and do nothing about pressure and inspite of this still achieving a lower CS than the enemy jungler.

and this happens in nearly 100% of the "camp" scenarios.

honestly I think a lot of people on the boards just do not play the game. if they did they would realize that most of the time, the ward does nothing. you have vision of the enemy jungler sitting in your bush. and your jungler will do nothing about this knowledge, and the fact that you can see them still doesn't change the fact that they are going to either zone you from CS, take your tower for first brick or just kill you for trying to play the game. or just do all 3 because camping is that strong of a tactic.

While part of me wants to say this is total anecdotal....

Its too true

This is the worst part. I mean, I sorta get the lack of ganks if it's Shyvana or something and proper farm + counterjungling can get you 2 or 3 levels ahead, but when you're playing a gank jungler and pathing like a monkey......

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

but when you're playing a gank jungler and pathing like a monkey......

I generally get yelled at for ganking too much. Because apparently I have no free time when I farm jungle. (>_>) Ivern problems. XD

lil koda1 votes

yes, i was the jungler for my team, but i was killing mid and bot and counter jungling. but my top was complaining over and over about being camped but he was pushing and never backing off everytime practically begging to ganked, its just stupid.

LethalTempo Jhin7 votes

Fun fact: Just because I am getting camped, doesn't mean YOU have to keep AFK farming and not getting item 3711 and protect me with wards, and not doing anything on the map.

The amount of games I got camped and turret dove while my jungler was AFK farming, not ganking other lanes, not doing anything, is actually quite high.

I can live with being camped, but YOU as a jungler get advantages elsewhere on the map so me being behind/super far behind is not the only outcome of it.

Karn Bishop6 votes

Most people who do this aren't regular top laners or were auto filled, vs a skilled top laner who knows how to perma freeze a wave just outside their own tower they just get dumped on. I think wave freezing is a cool mechanic however you shouldn't be able to maintain it forever as it causes snowballing issues top lane.

Nielarken6 votes

Getting camped is understandable shit happens. Getting camped while the enemy team lose nothing and still sit in lanes farming with 5hp triggers me.

Gelmous6 votes

you're the jungler i don't want to have in my games

ZT Xperimentor5 votes

And what about those times when you're getting dived? Hopefully your team is pressuring other objectives to make it worthwhile.

Grjjm Reaper4 votes

nah bot is just farming while 5 man mid are pushing second tower [slayer-jinx-wink]

Rengar Top Lane4 votes

Bro, I've been in situations where the enemy laner froze and the enemy jungler literally sat near top lane. If your team isn't doing taking advantage of that to the fullest, you're in a pretty messed up situation and bound to lose.

Junkο4 votes

Just because I'm constantly dying to jungle ganks doesn't mean I'm not sitting under my turret.

Grjjm Reaper2 votes

yeah if enemy is lee sin,and you're camped, nothing you can do but take the L and hope you never see Lee Sin ward hop Kick you into bad guys again.

Escheton2 votes

Fun fact, if I don't try to at least get some cs I will be so far behind I'll be hugging my tower so closely my opponent can walk botlane for a gank and return by the time I push out a bit.

five oh tree 2 votes

The entire problem is honestly tower FB. It makes people more hesitant to leave their tower because of how much of an advantage it gives an opponent. So if you die to an early gank once and they come again, you either have to give your tower to the massive wave they created with the freeze + jungler, or try and survive under your tower. The pressure of "don't give up the first turret and put yourself insanely behind" causes a lot of people to stay.

I bet OP tells his laner to leave tower before a dive while he's farming the nearest camp for that sweet Udyr item 1402 build he saw Trick2G do

Zero Drive2 votes

The goal of every top laner should be to apply enough pressure that the enemy jungle, and if extremely lucky enemy mid, has to roam top to stop you. The reason for this is so that your ally jungler can now safely take drake (solo, or with help from bot or mid) or coordinate for a juicy 4 man gank bot lane to take the first blood tower. A good jungler understands that his toplaner being repeatedly ganked is the best thing that can happen pre 15 mins. A good jungler uses this to win the game. I'd rather have a 2/0/2 adc, 0/0/4 sup, 2/0/2 jung a 1/1 mid and 0/3 toplaner with FB tower, 1st/2nd drake buff on entire team than have a 2/0/2 top, a 2/0/2 jung, and a completely useless botlane. Issue is most Toplaners que as top/mid and junglers que as mid/jung when in reality they should que as top/jung and learn the dynamics of both roles. As a top laner I don't rage when I'm camped so long as my jungler capitalizes off it. As a jungler I don't rage if my toplaner continuously feeds so long as he understands his sacrifice is for the good of the team.

PS if you play a carry toplane instead of a tank, you're asking to be camped just accept it.

Grjjm Reaper1 votes

I agree, if I my top was not only getting camped, and our jungle just stays farming that red buff, and enemy team still takes drake and other objectives.

Had a game where our jungler LIVED in the jungle, and never left it for 20 minutes, what then? You can not report them because it techincally is not breaking any rules, so you're stuck with the GG and Defeat.

This so many this. If your against hecarim, or any other "gotta go fast" gankers, DO NOT. I REPEAT. DO NOT PUSH THE WAVE OUT. Even if you ward the river bush they gank faster than you can retreat.

PREACH

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Soraka No. Please. Camp me more. I'm designed to function with minimal gold and multiple levels behind. Meanwhile, my mid, bot, and jungle all have free reign to pressure the map in your absence. (The wonderful world of Goat top - Page 382, verse 7.)

Extreme examples aside; camping junglers are still exploitable. If an ally is getting camped, that means the jungler isn't pressuring the rest of the map. If your jungler isn't camping, then you still have the advantage of presence.

And camped allies aren't the worst thing in the game as long as they don't reset their death sprees (I always cringe when this happens). If an ally repeatedly dies, the benefit of killing them falls off. At it's lowest point, they're worth as much as a cannon minion.

You can't fix allies. And commenting on mistakes or suggestions in-game only tilts people. Best to just exploit them as much as possible. :)

not if you getting tower dove camped

What if its pantheon and he is simply towerdiving you at level 5?

You skipped the part where the enemy top laner chunks you down under tower with their ranged spell and the jungler comes in to dive. Same concept here tho... just let the tower go. It hurts, but let the tower go and run lol

People need to learn to freeze under tower. The point of cs'ing isn't to push the wave as fast as possible, but get as many minions as possible

Grjjm Reaper2 votes

How do you freeze with AP,w/o using spells, I want to learn this on Vladmir

DemainaNyx1 votes

Freezing just means leaving enough enemy minions alive so that they kill off your ally minions faster than your minions (and you) kill off them. You can pretty much do it with any champion, regardless of kit.

If you are freezing the wave near your tower, you need 4 more enemy minions than your minions. So yeah, just keep 4 extra minions on the enemy side, and it will stay there so long as all you do is last hit the dying minions. If you do anything other than last hit, you will break the freeze. Ideally, you want to wait till the last possible second to get the minion as well, because if you hit them when it's possible to kill them, you might be slowly breaking your freeze.

Baron Barian1 votes

To be fair, it is really really hard to step out of the lane and press the 4 button on the bush.

Okay, but to be serious, even if you DO ward your gank zone, t won't mean anything if you don't watch it people. It is actually quite easy NOT to get ganked, people. -.-
