Add a passive to Koggy's W

That deals bonus magic damage OnHit equal to, say, 20 to 30% of his Ability Power.

That would make up to the direct nerfs AP Kog suffered due to AD Kog as well as the nerfs Lichbane ate because Kayle and Fizz were both silly.

He's already a high skillcap niche champion with clear strengths and weaknesses. On NA, you see him <2% after all the nerfs. Compare that to 26% for Vayne and Lucian.

I'm all for more diversity and it's clear he needs a little something lately. He isn't even popular in competitive anymore (even though they can build a team around him).

In addition to the percentage scaling he has? That's a little too walrus for my taste.

In addition, yes. Current percentage scaling he has on his W is an additional 1% per 100 AP. Assuming a 2k HP target, that amounts to 20 extra damage per 100 AP, or a 0.2 AP ratio. Varus' W, by way of contrast, gets an additional 2% per 100 AP in addition to a 0.25 AP ratio base damage.

This is related to the other very interesting Kog thread.

Anyway, I think 20% AP on-hit is too much. If I were implementing this, I wouldn't go past 10%. However, this just doesn't make a lot of sense conceptually because he already has AP scaling on W. If they want to improve that, they could simply make it 1.25% per 100 AP etc. There is no need for a totally random additional on-hit with AP.

I don't think Kog (either version) is in a great spot now but the easiest and safest yet rather miniscule buff would be to restore the .7 AP ratio on Q. It's already a fairly easy to dodge skillshot. The other thing they could do is have the ult. bonus damage start at 75%, go to 100% at 11 and back to 125% at 16. This would keep his theme and identity intact while making his ult. more rewarding without it being overbearing early.
