Wait, was DFG actually meant to be an anti-tank item?

I just read this.. is it true? Never in my life have I considered it as an anti-tank item. Surely this is just a rumor?

15% max hp active, damage amplification for 4 secs.

Imo it's not downright anti tank but it can be quite useful for that purpose.

Except that tanks also build magic resistance. So the active will do more damage against squishies in most cases. If they wanted it to be an anti-tank damaging active, it should have been true damage. Probably even true damage done over time, so that it's not a burst item. Like, I could believe that they didn't want it to be usable only on squishies, but.. I really /hope/ this wasn't their attempt at making an anti-tank item.

V0.9.25.24: Added, removed shortly after.

item 3128 Deathfire Grasp Unique passive: When you hit a unit with a spell, you damage it for 10% of their current health (5% for multi target spells). Deals reduced damage if your last cast was fewer than 4 seconds ago.

DFG was originally like this.

So I guess that's prob why, still good though.

Yeah, Liandry's is a working anti-tank item, I think.

item 3151 is amazing on people like Anivia or people with a lot of CC to constantly get the double damage effect of the passive, but it's pretty weak on everyone else.

It used to be more of an anti tank item.

It was like X% of current health, and increased with AP. People realized that it just worked better as an opener against squishy targets so it was remade as a burst item.

They've mentioned before they don't like DFG and almost removed it

With the right build sure.

It was originally.

It removed 35% of the targets current HP with another 4% (I think...) per 100 AP.

It was changed to flat damage plus damage amplification largely because of AP Eve after her rework. Eve could walk up to someone and evaporate 75% of their HP instantly from stealth.
