Why are Pantheon and Evelynn an issue?

Panth ults around around map all game long, nothing op, just annoying. Eve gets pentas all day long and is kind of op in URF.

Don't nitpick my comment.... I'm just saying there's plenty of champions that are "OP" in URF, besides URf isnt supposed to be balanced, its supposed to be crazy fun.

Well, 'crazy fun' failed when the meta popped up after...what, 3 hours? Don't pick an OP champ, instant ragefest.

  1. Did i really get down voted? wooow....

  2. Yeah, i retract my statement about it being crazy fun. I had fun the first hour or two, then it got really stale after that. Seems theres only a few viable champs to have fun in this mode. Hard to have fun when Fizz has a 2 second invulnerablity, and a zhonyas in between for when he messes up. But that's like, my opinion or whatever...

I don't know why I had more fun last year....

Narasimha1 votes

Honestly? You probably only THINK you had more fun last year. Psychologically speaking, humans remember sadder events with more detail than happier ones. We tend to look back on our fonder days with rose tinted glasses, so the speak.

You're contradicting your own argument there. If humans remember sad events more than happy ones, he should be remembering Urf with a negative slant.

Narasimha1 votes

Not necessarily, that would imply that all of URF was negative. URF last year did have its time of genuine fun, and it lasted longer than it did this time.

I'm so confused right now. Eve getting penta's? regularly? OP? Yeah, it's URF mode, but it's still Evilyn we're talking about.

J Epstein1 votes

We're talking about champs in URF, pay attention..

Yes, there is alot of OP, and what you said is the entire point. Fun. You can't have fun when every bit of damage you do is healed up by Sona within 5 seconds, and the damage you take for being close to her while she was mashing buttons is a but much.

MrBuffington1 votes

Eve is insane, lol, her Qs with spellvamp means she heals through pretty much any DPS plus her W is on permanently, which makes it pretty hard to hit skillshots on her. She's pretty difficult to deal with unless you have targeted CC and/or large burst potential.

Panth also just chews people out with infinite Qs and permastun W, but I wouldn't say he's as much of a problem as some of the other ones

Oh, everybody's okay with tons of damage being buffed over and over, but people got a thing against sustain.

Someone deals damage and everyone's cool with it, but someone with sustain gets the spotlight and everyone loses their minds.

Leave the support alone when there's other troublemakers! Vladimir Leona Kayle Karma Katarina Karthus Fiora and so on

Xrusa3 votes

And honestly, its 50% reduced sustain for a while + a nerf to her W shield in urf, she's really not that bad

IcyPepper2 votes

It's annoying sometimes when you talk about balance. Nobody cares (except support mains) if healing gets gutted, but everyone loves more damage.

Imagine if damage was reduced as well for awhile in URF. People would lose their minds.

I understand that too much defensive utility and healing would stall games and make it boring, but there's a point when you got to realize the game is more than tons of damage and twitch reflexes. Back in nemesis mode, people kept saying "don't give them damage" and I tried to warn them, but we'd get wrecked by all-support/tank teams because we have absolutely no cc and get stun-locked and aoe'd to death.

This isn't a number game, it's a strategy game. And posts like OP is why I keep stressing this.

I don't think you're looking at the right part of the problem. it's not about how good the healing is in a stand up 1v1 fight. People aren't going to do that with a Sona(or with a one on their team), unless they don't know what they are doing, or they are already so fed that nobody can really touch her. You engage whatever trade you can, doesn't matter how bad it is as long as you didn't die, then run away and heal everything back within 5-10 seconds. Go back into harrass/trade mode because your enemy laners didn't heal all the damage like you did, repeat until that lane is a joke.

IcyPepper3 votes

And you can counter those healers with perma-stun mages.

Annie I believe she can easily defeat Sona and keep her from escaping.

Point is that everything in this game mode is broken. It's the point. Yes, healers are annoying, but there's already a debuff in the game that reduces it. Healing may feel oppressive, but so does getting 100-0 by carries with tons of damage.

I can make the same claim that being melted in two second late game isn't fun, but that's part of the hilarity. And every team gets three bans, so if you want to ban Sona go ahead. Don't see the point in this thread if we already get bans by default.

They gave us bans last year, and disabled the most problematic champs on top of that. This is to stop people from just picking whatever they think is the most OP possible thing just so they can win a game mode designed for fun. If you don't ban Sona, likely both teams get one, and thats two lanes that are now ruined by unlimited sustain. Then you sit back and just let them farm like you were playing a losing normal because you simply can't trade vs a Sona. How is that worth defending?

Have you played against one? They just run around masning qwe all game and it completely destroys any semblance of a laning phase. Unless you're 2 high burst champs in the same lane has her and have really good coordination, you won't even have a tiny shot of killing anyone if she doesn't stop mashing her heal. They autobanned her last year for a reason and the changes don't solve the problem.

A Miss Fortune1 votes

Sona Mid was really broken because of her sustain and it still is today. Due to Sona's ability to heal herself unlike pretty much every current mid laner except Ahri (Her passive, which still isn't that good or frequently used.) and on top of her constant poke, she's bound to kill you in laning phase especially at level 6 if she has any clue what she's doing.

I sort of agree with the Sona heal nerfs, but they also nerfed her damage too which was totally uncalled for. You can't balance a champion by forcing them out of a lane. I WILL play AP Soraka Top if I want to and when I want to, just please make it viable Riot.

I don't know why people downvoted your comment though it seems pretty accurate to me.

IcyPepper1 votes

They downvote because they disagree, but choose not to respond because... well, what are they going to say? They're probably the same people who hate the tank meta, who hate bruisers (though in some cases justified), and don't see the value in supports besides Leona and Thresh and Blitzcrank.

It's just... well, either you get a slow-moving strategy game like chess, or you get a fast-paced twitch reflexes game like CoD. League, imo, has been balanced to be somewhere in the middle, but people are going to have a preference. And not to insult them, but people who prefer fast-paced reflex games are more likely to drive-by downvote rather than sit down and give me a response so I can get insight and understand their point of view. Since they don't, we'll forever be at each other's throats, never understanding one another.

I played a game as Sona in urf and got absolutely destroyed. Sona wrecks poke comps in urf but if you pick engage then she is completely wrecked. Make sure your team actually picks someone who can burst someone down quickly rather than poking them and she is useless. I died every time someone jumped on me.

Xrusa1 votes

Depending on the poke comp and how accurate their skillshots are, definitely. I had the same situation and got bursted 100-0 within 3s of any enemies coming near, it's a lot tougher than people like to make it sound. I'll take a sona matchup over hec, morg, ezreal, wukong any day

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Or you can ban her yourself in banning phase?

Actually having a Sona in my team is great, but having to hear her playing her harp every 1 second seems kinda annoying. It's almost as if I'm listening to Nautilus's footsteps every second.

I played her in URF.

Was fun being able to spam like 10 bullets at once on top of having double E's up at once.

I main'ed Sona from Season 4 until a month or so ago and everyone said Sona was OP in URF.

I got first blood and one shot their carries so many times and then solo'ed Baron at like level 13 after 1v3'ing their Ziggs, Malphite, and Vladimir.
