SKT's Game vs Flash Wolves Shows How Poorly New Champions Are Designed.

SKT was even in gold the majority of the game even when behind, mechanically outplaying their enemies the entire game, and yet still cannot come back in the game. SKT is having a bad day? Anyone has a bad day when the enemy team can play as terrible as they want and simply ult to correct theirs or their teammates mistakes. Alistar on the wrong side of the dragon fight? Oh just use your Kindred ult and ensure he doesn't die. Ekko overextending into 5 enemies underneath their turret? Just press R and instantly erase your poor sense of map awareness. Team mechanically unable to win fights against SKT's solid mechanics? Oh just use Kindred ultimate combined with Guardian Angels on your team to ensure that you can never lose any fight even if you don't play the fight well.

I am not even a fan of SK Telecom however watching that game makes me hate League of Legends. The entire beginning up to mid game their team completely outplayed the enemy team however due to how massively these new champions influence events within League of Legends there is literally nothing you can do to outplay as demonstrated by nothing other than SKT themselves.

Champions like Ekko and Kindred simply do not belong in League of Legends. Beginning with Yasuo and even up to this new champion scheduled for release, each new champion has made the game more frustrating for players by removing skill reward from the game. League of Legends is no longer about how well you play and I'm glad to see that this is starting to show at the professional level.

Flash Wolves had like the strongest possible teamcomp on the current patch. Kindred + Ryze is really really durable and absurd dmg. Ezreal... Alistar... both hyper safe in later parts of the game. Tank Ekko. Yeah. It was the perfect storm. And they played it without too much flaw.

At least it looked like that. SKT themselves played a comp that lacked what I call initiative. Initiative is extremely necessary to a teamcomp IMO when playing against something that outscales you hard. Their engage would have to either be Poppy; a Trundle pillar or an Azir-sec (too dangerous versus. Ryze) About none of the Flash Wolves champs cared too much about the Trundle pillar which is normally very obnoxious.. Ezreal? Nah. Alistar? Lol. Ryze? He's just gonna kill whoever goes too close. Tank Ekko? Do over. Kindred..? Maybe... Plus the trundle ult was basically invalidated by the Ekko QSS and the lack of its effectiveness vs. an Alistar. The match was actually like a 4v5. Plus Nidalee is a champ while incredibly powerful is still incredibly overrated by the professional scene IMO because if she doesn't have the right team support she's impossible to use in teamfights. Nidalee was also a liability against the absurdity of Flash Wolve's comp. So while Flash Wolves did display some major balance problems in the game SKT did really drop the ball IMO. A solid engage option is a requirement when playing vs. high scaling teams.

I almost agree with this, I'd just add one caveat. Jhin is the exception.

Unlike most champions released recently he's actually a well designed champ with a clear set of strengths and weaknesses and no real overwhelming bullshit in his kit. I feel like he's the champ who Riot should be looking at when they want to design new champs, because he's really their only recent success.

My only consistent complaint against Jhin is the Deathfire Touch talents absurd synergy with him doubling or more the damage of his W pokes in mid/late game.

Past that it's ludicrous the buffs they just gave him, I mean really? Pink ward health reduced to FOUR? Shenanigans!!!

HAHAHA XD Yasuo doesn't take skill apparently, releasing him took the skill reward away from the game XD

Says Yasuo takes skill

Meanwhile I can build 2 crit items on Yasuo, dash around and 2 hit people, or use my super safe knockup ult to kill them

Wow so much skill involved

Ya I can oversimplify any champion too

hurr durr I'm Draven I can catch axe and build damage items and 2 shot people hurr durr maybe ult to ks with style durrrrr so easy no skill collect freelo

Wow maybe when you get to a decent rank you'll know better

SKT had minimal to no ability to start fights.

They had Azir to dash -> wall Poppy teleport flank Trundle pillar

They were also fighting Iceborn Gauntlet Ezreal, who is tricky to engage on anyways.

SKT picked power champions, but a poor composition for what the other team threw together. If that Lucian was a Kalista, that alone would've had an insane difference on the game.

Yasuo does not require a lot of skill to play.

However it does not take skill to outplay most Yasuos and stop them from entering feast mode. That's why playing Yasuo past a certain point in ranked is difficult. Free kills become harder to come by, and when your whole kit is designed around getting kills, that's a problem.

He's a binary assassin, as assassins should be. It's painful losing to an assassin, but in every case it is an avoidable situation.

If you don't want to play against an oppressive assassin, then play as carefully as you're able to. If a teammate gives an assassin 2 or 3 kills, get prepared. That assassin will roam, you are not completely safe under your turrets, and you can never have enough vision. If the fed assassin is not visible on your map, then assume they are coming to your location because they probably are. Move and act as a team and the assassin will be a lot less effective.

Ekko is a particular problem design wise because he's an assassin that also has utility. That takes the binary aspect out of his kit that is necessary for counterplay. You can do everything right against a champion like Ekko, and they'll still end up dominating because of their utility. He should have never been created. A champion like that will either be a must ban/pick, or not viable.

The assassin class as a whole needs to return to glass cannon builds. They're not a complex class to balance if you keep their kits capped utility wise.

The difficult part is debating if assassins should exist in this game at all, but that's a whole other discussion.

Does anyone know where I can find a link to this match?

I'm already inclined to agree with the OP that kindred and her kit is bullshit and the same goes for that cancerous little boy ekko.

Eh, I think SKT just outpicked themselves in the pick-phase. Like several others have mentioned, there was a lack of solid engage. Flash Wolves had the upper hand despite the seemingly even gold lead (which was in Flash Wolves' favour pretty early on, may I remind you) with their engages, their escaped and whatnot. Picking mobile champions as well as hard engage is very rewarding in the patch they're playing on.

I don't think season 6 is perfect, but I honestly don't mind the changes to champions/new champions arriving. Sure it's tricky to play against when you don't know that much about them, but there'll always be meta picks. And this time around, Flash Wolves got their hands on many, if not most of them. Maybe we'll see some more "immobile" champions (i.e. Cassiopeia, Heimerdinger etc.) in the future with the hextech belt that gives a small dash in selected direction. Don't reckon this game was this one-sided due to "op" new champions though. SKT has new members adapting and it shows. Simple enough.

its almost like when you don't nerf an OP champion they stay OP

I think FW actually played really well and deserved the win... both teams had broken champs like the casters said. One team just played better overall.

You honestly do sound like a low key SKT bandwaggon with how salty you are over this game.

Then you would really hate to know SKT wins a lot of their games recently abusing some of those same champions. Besides its not like Both Ali and Ryze aren't just as big of problems right now and those are season one champions. SKT played poor today, that's why they lost. Not OP champions.

And why are you using pro LoL to judge the game at a lower level as if they even come close to comparing. Everyone cries about Zed in regular play, see's no pro play. Ryze is god tier, listed as one of the weakest champs in non competitive play.

Some made since Yasuo seem within reason in their design and clear pros and cons like Bard who offers a ton of utility but not a lot in the way of damage.

Others like Kindrid are way to good at basically all stages of the game. Riot seems to have messed up in making some marksmen able to effectively jungle this season. It is also part of the reason why enchantment warrior can not build from Tiamat which would make it a more interesting jungle item and something more players would consider to say the least.

But we can't have Kindrid (who still will likely be building the attack speed option in jungle) and graves who is still way to effective at to many things "nerfed"
