What exactly was removing Normal Draft supposed to improve?

Queue times? I'm sitting here in Ranked Flex with a 3min+ queue, which was exactly the same as in Normal Draft.

Who removed normal draft? It's still there.

Are you talking about how ranked Solo/Duo is currently disabled? That's because if it was enabled, nobody would soloQ for flex.

Normal draft was removed in all regions expect North America, Europe West, and Brazil. They claimed that in an ideal world they would retire it in all regions. http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/competitive/how-rank-2017-season

Yea, it is there for you. But not for us.

Yes, queue times. They're worried that if they kept Normal Draft and Flex queue then the queue times for both would be unacceptable.

Just kill EUNE and give us free transfer to EUW.

Playerbase problem solved.

both servers are based in EUW region though.

Sweden is pretty much just as close to EUW countries as we are EUNE. In fact, since the East countries have err... subpar internet whereas the West countries have better ones, I'd expect my ping to improve.

....youre assuming that all the people who played Normal Draft decided to play Ranked Flex, while all the Dyanmic Queue ranked players continue to play ranked.

Some people who played Dynamic Queue a week ago arent playing Flex now that the season is over. Some of the Normal Drafters went to Blind, not into Ranked Flex.

I am NOT going back to blind pick. If they remove it here, I may just be done with this game.

If you knew how to do the slightest bit of research you would see that they aren't removing it in NA.

But "in an ideal world," they would. So it may potentially be removed in NA.

Again. Go read the Riot posts. They made another statement regarding this. It is not being removed in NA.

Moeuguudes2 votes

They said the same thing about Solo Que.

Then we got an entire season of Dynamic with no Solo Que.

Their response to our dislike? "We're not going to bring Solo Que back."

So then they brought Solo Que back.

In case my sassyness wasn't clear enough; Just because Riot says one thing, does not mean they won't do the complete opposite. They stated that they have no plans on removing normal draft from NA and the other larger regions, but that doesn't mean they don't want to eventually do it. To be honest, I don't know how anyone could misinterpret the "In an ideal world," phrase. All it means is that they currently are unable to "healthily" remove Normal Draft from NA and the other large regions...But they definitely think that it's something they want to do when they think that they're able to healthily remove it...

And I don't know about you, but the absolute last thing I would trust with Riot is the health of a que system, if recent events are anything to go by.

If you're going to distrust them for saying one thing it only stands to reason that you don't trust anything they say. In which case that means the good and the bad otherwise you're just another hypocrite.

To be honest, I don't know how anyone could misinterpret the "In an ideal world," phrase.

Do you understand what "clarification" means? Cause they clarified what they were getting at.

16 Champions.

Honestly, I just suggest the 450 IP champions be unlocked for everyone and removed from the free rotation.

Then, everyone will have enough champions to play Normal Draft.

Yup. A much better option than freaking baleeting the only tolerable Normal game-mode.

You could also combine normals/blind and remove the bans. This would:

  1. allow new players onto Summoners Rift right away with the free rotation being 10 champs. This a. Makes sure new players aren't forced into what to buy with IP, and b. Keeps Riot from giving away anything for free (I.e. they don't have to unlock cheap champs as you suggested).

  2. Ensure you get much of the draft experience/roles you want

  3. Maintains this as an efficient practice queue because the champ you went in wanting to play can't be banned. Look at it now, will we also move normal draft to 10bans like ranked eventually? That would be awful If you're looking to practice something like a new meta pick. If you're looking for practice, bans don't really offer much value to normals. I mean, if learning bans is the only new skill for jumping into ranked, that's pretty good.

  4. Improve queue times.

Who Feeded You1 votes

You already get Garen, Ashe, Tristana and Alistar for free.

That means you'll need 2 more champions to enter draft mode.

N Pelosi1 votes

The main draw of draft(in the past) was bans. It might be an equal draw as position pick these days. For me though, no ban = no play.

Noblewind1 votes

Interesting, from my experience normals are mostly about 'i want to try this'. I think the bans in normals just lead to a lot of dodging.

N Pelosi1 votes

Well it was basically, do you want to play a lower stress environment, but not have to deal with the stagnation of blatantly overtuned or annoying popular champions? Draft provided bans for you to do so and helps the game feel less stale. Pre new champ select, it was virtually the same thing as blind pick, but with bans and pick order. Now, post new champ select, it also has role queuing which makes it pretty distinct from blind to the point that I don't really find the two queues comparable any more.

I don't speak for everyone, but I'm also not unique or some kind of special snowflake, so I logically assume there are folks out there who see it the same way as I do.

Snow Kangaroo1 votes

Yes but that could also lead to newer players playing ranked with some of the most brain dead champions in the game. Annie Amumu Garen Soraka MasterYi

Also good to note that League isn't a game that should be rushed.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

It is less than 6k IP for all of the 450 IP champions. You will have significantly more IP than that by the time you reach level 30.

This wouldn't change anything. It would only give new players more options for their initial picks when they begin to learn the game (so they can try different champions to see what they like).

Players who have just hit level 30 will pretty much always play ranked. Honestly, many of them with hundreds of games will still be horrible; otherwise, there would be far few players in Bronze.

Half the people that crying over the removal are in bronze anyway. Hell if they made it where Draft Normal was only for people who actually placed in gold or higher in rank for a practice mode you would see possible higher increase in people really trying.

My point of it is what do they have to lose from playing blind that isn't already being done in normal draft.

Both have toxic players, both will have bad players, the only difference is a few banned champions. I mean they are bronze players, Bad players will be bad players regardless of what is played. (It's been proven)

Even if Draft allows people to get the roles they want, how many games have you honestly seen someone play support and make an ap mid as the support and forget what a sightstone is built for?

Blind and Normal are two cancers with different strains. In the end both of them are cancer.

I hope that once the solo queue ladder comes up, it will be the center of competitive atmosphere in League. That way people can play Flex with their friends without worrying too much about LP. In theory it might be a good change, but it still stops players who's ranks are too far apart from playing with each other. Hopefully Riot finds a good way to fix that issue before they decide to make the same changes on the rest of the regions.
