I love losing ranked games due to the fact that players are allowed to first time champions in it.

Don't give me the "I first timed Zed in ranked and went 20/1 in it, carried my team, blah blah blah" shit. That doesn't apply to every single player in the entirety of the game. I just played a platinum MMR ranked game where THREE of my teammates have never fucking touched their champions that they played with. Of course, I make their Irelia go 0/7/1 in lane, but oh boy, My first time Draven and Vel'koz made Ezreal go a whopping 26/5. Taken, that was his final score, but he was around 9/2 in lane. He started getting more kills when he killed my first time Cassio over and over, where she ended up going 3/11. Thank god we cannot fucking impliment a system that PREVENTS players from locking in champions they've never played before.

In before the "Then players won't be able to trade in champion select" argument comes into play. The game is almost 9 years old, where they have billions of dollars to fuck around with. I'm sure they can think of something.

There are so many vids out there why you should NOT take a champ into rank the first time and people still do it? Dang. Now I knwo why I mute all in game litrally when the game starts. But if someone is stupid enough to mess up him own MMR/rank and try a new champ, I hope they know there is a support player in the bot lane hitting his head on the table wishing these guys would just kill themselfes.

And yes, that should put a min Rank level on a champ before you can take it to ranked games. It doesnt need to be high. But having rank 3, even 4 and higher should to the trick.

One of the reason why LOL's ranked is trash. It's like allowing Paralympic athletes in Olympic team games and then calling disabled players having "bad day". It is also reason why big part of players become "toxic". I don't call it a fair game when I have to play my game and also keep pulling somebodys wheelchair.

And they say you can't go afk. but but .. i have to pull wheelchair in the middle of my play :D

Go play a single player game if you dont like your team influencing the outcome of a game.

Is this the best comment you could find for this post?I think you didn't get what he wants to say.

My statement was in regards to the OP. This guy is not bringing anything to the table other than comparing himself to an olympic athlete with disabled teammates. Its an offensive statement thats not bringing anything to the discussion. Hes got a negative winrate and is complaining about his teammates...

So,those that have a negative winning rate shouldn't have an opinion to that matter?Because it's different between having a bad winning rate and playing ranked games with a champion FOR FIRST TIME.

I also have a bad winning rate with Singed and Kled.Does that mean that i suck as a player and shouldn't have an opinion?

Mig892 votes

If your opinion is "Bad players are bringing me down" and youre losing most of your games, your opinion on that isnt that valuable, yes

SilentBomber1 votes

First of all,you are not the right person to judge if my opinion is valuable or not.You can disagree all you want but that is your limit.

Second,If by "bad players",you mean those that play champions in ranked games for first time then yes, they DO bring me down.

I'm ok with bad performances unless you know your champion. You tried to win but you failed. No hard feelings.First time champions however, indicate that you are not interested in winning but only to test/experiment with your champion.A strong example is that first time Varus i once had in my team, built AP items and fed hard since the first 10 minutes of the game.

You have all the right to perform poorly after you failed some plays and while trying to win. However, picking champions for first time in competitive shouldn't be a thing.

Edited. The guy above stated he won against Irelia. That means he is a Top laner AS ME.If my ADC picks a champion for first time and feeds then yes.He is a bad player that brings me down.

Paladins Heroes of the Storm

Both of these games will not let you take a champion into competitive play until you have at least Mastery Level 4 with them.

Why can't LoL have this?

Nyarlathοtep

Because riot games has lol. Thats why.

nah they should make it where u need X amount of mastery points for a champ to play them in ranked... that way they cant just pick a champ cause someone says they counter them...

so as someone who doesn't main one champ specifically, would I need to get them all to mastery 5 or 6 or whatever it may be, just to use them in ranked?

Like mastery lvl 2 or 3 should be sufficient to say at least the player has played that champion a few times.

rank 5 or 6?? no not at all but at least rank 3-4... u can get to those ranks usually at about 10-15 games on a champ... dont u hate having to waste a ban on a new release champ in ranked cause your teammate want to play the champ when it has only been released for 30 mins?? or hey their mid is playing Ryze.. better counter pick him.. play cass.. even though the player may have no idea on how her kit works.. then u donate 15-22 LP for the loss...

Then players won't be able to trade in champion select

inb4 mentioning money and game age for no reason as if it'll solve the problem

WAIT WHAT IF WE BRIBED PLAYERS 100$ INTO AFKING EVERY TIME THEY MAKE IT TO LOADING SCREEN WITH A CHAMPION THEY HAVENT PLAYED. Player has incentive to tank leavebuster, team gets remake, riot has happy playerbase. Win win win.

money solves everything

But no, seriously, the "game is x old and riot has x dollars" statement is overused even though in this specific situation I can think of ways to get around it.

Don't freaking inb4 if you're too lazy to even think of a response lmfao

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

You make it sound like people trade often in champion select anyway. I only trade with premades because I don't want to deal with people not owning champions anyway and then lock in some stupid shit for me to play. It's not worth the hassle in 90% of games since anything works in anything below diamond anyway so getting counterpicked doesn't mean anything.

TeCoolMage1 votes

yeah, but I was mostly making fun of OP for saying 'In before the "Then players won't be able to trade in champion select" argument comes into play' and then giving no argument.

It'd be better to swap pick order than swap pick itself honestly

Herson2 votes

You say that this happened in a platinum elo ranked game, but the account you're posting from is only level 25

Disembark2 votes

Because in lik 90% of these threads the someone scouts the OPs match history and finds some major bullshit (i.e. OP might’ve been first timing champs in ranked himself, or that he heavily contributed to their loss even though he won lane).

JRobin312 votes

LoL, "Then players won't be able to trade in champion select".

It boggles the mind: RIOT implements an infinite leveling system in Season 8, but shies away from making players "grind" the champions they want to trade in champion select. They increase the number of champions bans forcing players to own more champions to play ranked: no problem.

I can see RIOT not being able to agree on what to do, but not being able to trade champions? That isn't a serious objection, is it? Is ranked just a glorified normals game now?

Asterfix1 votes

The first time i ever played swain was in an one for all and that shit was so fucking bonkers i bought him and immediately started him in ranked. I mean, understanding his kit and build path is super easy but I feel like you never really learn how to play your champ against a real opponent unless you play ranked in your ELO. Learning a champ isn't hard it's knowing when to make certain decisions that costs a player their game.

IainG105 votes

But that doesn't mean you should just dive in at the deep end; you can learn a rotation against bots and never be able to use it vs even the worst player opponent...you should have to play a champ in Normals before you can select it in Ranked.

flibitydoo1 votes

You've already disqualified yourself from the "first time a champion in ranked" with the first thing you said; you played him in one for all. That means you've already gotten at least one game with Swain which means you are more experienced than someone who's genuinely first timing in ranked.

Another example of a Top laner that went ahead, having literally 0 impact in the game because someone decided that.0 rewards for your performance but oonly the loss of MMR as the other feeders.

I'm with you all the way here. This is bullshit and I wish Riot would do something about it.

In before the "Then players won't be able to trade in champion select" argument comes into play. The game is almost 9 years old, where they have billions of dollars to fuck around with. I'm sure they can think of something.

Actually there is a solution, simply implement a feature where before/during the ban phase, players can ask to switch places in the pick order. If the other player accepts then they will give up their spot in the pick order to the asking player and will receive the asking player's pick order instead.

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Or just make the pick order not completely random. It's not that complicated. I don't want to play russian roulette on pick order where I end up getting blue side first pick mid where I have to pick something safe with waveclear.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

I'd be in favor of that! Pick order can really screw with one's ability to pick what they want to play.

Oh SURE they can but...

Some of those first-timers bought their champions with RP with some skins. Would you, as a company from selling skins, really deny them the right to showoff their wallets?

This system stopped being made to be for players the moment Riot sold themselves to 10cent. Now it's made for people with money. Lootboxes, progression, levels, be, shards, flawed ranked, dynamic queue. All has 1 connection. Money.

They don't even have to, we already thought of it for them: grant the ability to swap pick order. From what I understand that's the primary reason people want to switch champions: "Hey can you grab X for me".
