Can we talk about normals matchmaking?

Just because it's a "normal" game and not ranked doesn't mean matchmaking should be thrown out the window. As an average gold player at best, I shouldn't be tossed against a diamond 3 mid. While the gap isn't always that big between two players in their respective lanes, it makes for a very exhausting and stressful time, as the lane quickly becomes unmanageable.

I know that a ranked guy might just be fucking around on his off role on an off champ. But even a diamond in an off role on a off champ will smash a silver/gold simply by using their better game knowledge, like macro, wave management, trading, backing at the right time , etc.

League is enough snowbally and unforgiving as it is with damage being through the roof. Can we at least have somewhat balanced games so they're not so volatile?

Updated : Just went against up against a grandmaster Twitch. What the actual fuck Riot

I will forever believe that your rank in ranked should splash over to your normal MMR. Not 100% maybe, but at least to keep diamonds out of iron normals.

"but Normals have a different MMR". And? Am I supposed to believe that a Diamond player has the same skill of a level 50ish newbie? Please.

And anyway, why these disgusting episodes happen SO OFTEN?

Worst thing, they keep saying "everything is fine" (great Support service). This is not ok, of course, and NOT telling the truth sounds pretty illegal. Hope someone will check, eventually.

For me it's annoying in a slightly different way. Since I ussually don't have problems in my lane, as I am the advantageous player, I find it deeply frustrating to have games ending in 10 minutes just because of the drastic difference in overall skill levels between players all across the board. This makes games lackluster for both teams, with one having to face immensely stronger opponents than usual, and the other just stomping the everloving duck out of the enemy team, making the game boring.

This video says it all, the game is rigged to make you lose if you win too many times.

If you win too many times you will start feel like a clamp is on you, no matter what you do you can't do anything in games, you will get these teams who seems to exist purely to sabotage your games. OR You will play vs players who are so beyond your skill level you will find it impossible to make any form of comeback and be forced to surrender.

Lose about 20 games in a row.

the clamp comes off and god will you feel it, everyone walks into your skillshots, you can solo carry you can feel the is in your favour again even if your team is bad you can solo carry.

The game is rigged and has been since season 5.

Because in season 4 you could win games solo if you got fed enough now its too reliant on who doesnt feed the hardest or who doesnt throw the most.

My favorite part is when I play on my lowest level/unranked accounts with a newbie friend who wants to discover the game, we're both level 3 yet he gets the privilege of playing mid against a plat 3.

Result; he didn't like the game.

You do realize that it's not totally random, right?

Yes, initially the ranks will be thrown off, but people still eventually sort out to how they should be.

Ranked mmr should bleed into normal mmr if you have 50 or more ranked games

Matchmaking indeed is horrible. I hate when I get those games where I have 2 silvers, 1 bronze, and 2 unranks vs 3 unranks and 2 golds. Surely rank isn't everything all the time, but this is an extremely inbalanced matchmaking.

In norms, I find that it's pretty balanced, in this sense;

Team 1:

-D3 Darius -Bronze 1 Master Yi -Silver 2 Ahri -Plat 1 Jhin -Iron 4 Yuumi

Team 2:

-Gold4 Maokai -D2 Evelynn -D4 Zed -Bronze 4 MF -Bronze 4 Thresh

The high elo people stomp the shit out of low elo players during laning phase and then proceed to see who is the alpha high elo players while the low elo players kinda just die from various random sources of damage

And force those players to have long af queue times for a normal game?

No i'm not talking about 5 minutes, im talking 10+ for a damn normal game https://i.imgur.com/xQ9QKir.png[/img]

This was during the MSI event so people actually did play blind pick to farm tokens faster like I was doing, same queue time would have happened in Draft mode anyways with the added bonus of more people dodging after a lot of time wasted in champ select. That pic is also when I found the first game.

Personally I love the wild matchmaking. I've played against grandmasters as a silver 4! It's exhilarating, especially if you win (which isn't as impossible as some of you seem to think, matches are coin flips). I suppose it's annoying if it's a hard stomp against your teammates, but that's just how games go sometimes. Learn from the experience, get gooder. Also I don't come across too many premades, most matches seem to have teams of randoms that choose flex because it's a bit more orderly than blind pick.

i agree, i play till gold then stop and play norms, im gold and vs plats and diamonds all day, sure somtimes i get the occasional silver/gold, i have played a game 5 golds vs 2 challenger 2 master and a GM on a smurf, its so busted atm, i play fr fun, but aint having much fun these days, and it got alot worse when TFT came out

the normal matchmaking is really really weird i was leveling this acc to 30 over the last weeks and it happend sometimes that my team was between level 5 and 27 while the enemyteam was 2 dia 2 plat and 1 silver.

i dont have a problem playing against them most of the time they are acually pretty bad for dia players but if they play against newish players they just run them down and there isnt much u can do.

The matchmaking system for normal is the same as the matchmaking system for ranked.

Lovelle7/21/2019, 1:15:36 PM1 votes

Normal MMR and ranked MMR are separate. If you maintain a winning record in normal games, your matches are going to get tougher, it's just how it is. You can't really pay that much attention to ranks in normals. Matchmaking will also occasionally group you with people that have no clue what they're doing, while the enemy team is stacked, and expect you to carry them (or vice-versa). Sometimes the players with no clue are the ones with shinier borders than you, while the most dangerous players are unranked ones. Normals are a very different beast from ranked.

Tin Obliterates7/21/2019, 1:40:09 PM1 votes

I've just had 2 games in a row where we had to ff 15 both times because my team fed their assess off.

Not to mention they throw in every rank possible into normals, and you often end up with silvers vs grandmasters or something similar, it's not fun for anyone involved.

I experienced this quite a bit. I was a big teambuilder player back in the day and regular normals matchmaking is terrible when compared to teambuilder. I can't queue up for draft to practice a new champion without expecting to get matched up against xXxZedMain31337xXx with thousands of Zed games and is ranked diamond 2.

Like, I get it, I am a good player. But when I am queued in a 5 man with friends in bronze/silver and/or first timing a champion, can the enemy team not be 5 plat+ players with the highest nearly in masters? I legit stopped playing with friends because this shit ruins the game. In teambuilder I would get a lane opponent about my rank, or lower/higher if I was playing a champion that I was new/experienced on. My friends would get opponents around their skill level. How the fuck did matchmaking go so far down hill?

YaraUwU7/22/2019, 5:11:24 AM1 votes

Ranked just as bad if not worse all across the ladder. its been brought up all year and riot obviously dosent give a shit because they have already hit their planned earnings for the year off of skins.
