Does anyone else have severe lag when they use discord?

Whenever I use discord, my game basically get's destroyed, my fps staying as low as 2-5 all game and it is literally unplayable. I told one of my friends about this ( He has discord but does not play league and, to my knowledge, he does not use it while gaming.) He was just picking at me, saying I've have a shit computer. But then, I've noticed in a bunch of custom games that I get invited to, when the host player links their discord server, a lot of people decline to use it because like me because they have the same problem. Seeing as how discord is the main way people talk to each other while gaming now, I wanna know if anyone knows how we can fix this? as of right now, people's main solution that I see is running discord on their phones.
