Re-learning Gangplank, any mains and enthusiasts care to help an old timer?

I managed to get lv 5 on gangplank back in 2015 before the rework and kind of left him behind since. Trying to pick him up recently as I'm learning a few high skillcap champs since I hit my ranked goal for this year. Any tips and tricks someone can spare?
