Is it just me or is the skill level of the average jungler much lower than what it used to be?

I am not a high level player, and have also been on a terrible losing streak due to being under the weather over the past few days.

But I climbed out of Iron III to Silver III with an 80% winrate last month before I took a long break and fell ill and can probably go higher except I really am skeptical on whether I want to play this game anymore. Anyway, this isn't a rant but a genuine observation I have from playing the last two seasons.

Jungle is shit in this season and jungle pressure fucks every lane up harder than it ever did, jungle is a far more impactful lane than it ever was and is fucking gamechanging in every sense of the word what with vision nerfed and the perma gank meta Riot so dearly loves. However I have a feeling that a lot of people who still play jungle just can't cope with this meta.

The junglers I come across and even from hearing of my friends play in Diamond and above seem to either be a hit or a total miss these days. You either get junglers who do well, or those do have absolutely no fucking clue on which lane to gank, when to invade, and when to farm.

Junglers who won't watch the map an go for the drake while the opponent is top side, and junglers who even when top side would rather farm Krugs than help counter gank a top laner.

Most junglers these days feel fucking brainless, immature, and people incapable of wiping their own ass.

It's not that they're doing worse it's just that when you're behind in the jungle now you cannot come back into your JG

Lane losing? You've lost that part of your JG eg; Gromp if bot is losing, Krugs if top is losing You died? All your JG is gone and you just have to eat shit and gank

Part of the success of the jungle is based on the laner. I've had my fair share of laners that will push without wards under enemy tower, refuse to position the wave to allow for easy ganks, or complete lack of any sort of awareness. In these types of games I am basically screwed over by my incompetent team mates, as their lost lanes now affects me in the jungle since they can't hold their own territory and aren't dependable. I then have to work twice as hard and make even fewer mistakes than the enemy jungler just to try and even out the gold difference. Meanwhile while I'm trying to stop the snow ball effect they are free to take my jungle and important objectives.

It doesn't help that Jungle is the least-populated and therefore most-autofilled role. Test it out, queue up for a game as Mid, see how long the queue takes, and decline, then queue up as Jungle, and you're looking at less than a 30 second wait in most cases.

I'm betting some players are even willing to queue as jungle and bet on the coinflip just so they can spam more games, like that will actually benefit them in some way.

jgl skill is now emphasised via specific pathing instead of gank pathing and the moment of play. so you must now haz korean pathings to be winnings and know all the matchups.

Jungle main here, Its not that jungle player skill level is lower right now, it's just that jungle became worse now compared to its old states, even a small mistake can render the jungler "useless" now, especially if you use something that doesn't clear camps fast, or something that has slow ms. I mostly pick fill lately instead of my usual roles and I almost always get positioned as a jungler, I guess this sums up that jungle is really bad right now. Oh and let's not forget the league community's culture of blaming the jungler for everything from stupid things like "I forgot to pee, jungler's fault" to "I'm a complete r%%%%% and I can't last hit, jungler's fault" etc etc etc that make 90% of junglers get sick of everyone and hate your very existance for being matched with them in their games while they struggle to stay on part with the rest of the team cause of the stupid changes riot makes for no apparent reason apart from "making the game more alive"

Jungle has gone to become the autofill role now instead of support, so a lot of people you're seeing probably got autofilled into jungle and don't really play it that often

Its true because more people are getting filled to jg. More people are getting filled to jg because the dev team at Riot makes bad decisions (Ahri is getting another charm buff ya'll).

I don't jungle. I've never liked the entire concept of a "dedicated jungler role". To me, buffs are for those who need them in lane and they tend to be wasted when all a jungler does early is farm. Personally, I play marauder. Take Kleptomancy and move speed and sprint from lane to lane, smacking champions and getting levels here and there. Works far better than jungle ever does.

Jungle is by far the hardest role for decision making.

It isnt that the skill is much lower but that difference in skill shows alot more than in other lanes.

Nothing is wrong with the jungle. 90% of laners below Diamond 4 have no fuckin clue how to play the lane and junglers are catching on.

I don't know if they are any worse than before but it does indeed feel like it. Junglers have always been generally speaking pretty clueless. Mostly junglers tend to fuck up by either not respecting lane priority or by being snowflakes and any type of criticism they receive will make them intentionally lose you the game because they think they are the main character in an anime or some shit and they are flawless. They also often do not know the win conditions, making them gank wrong lanes and refusing to help the lane that is actually the win condition.

I know you are currently in the low skill tiers but it literally doesn't change even if you get higher.
