So is this what Ranked games is like?

So my friend has been playing for a long time and got me into the game. He is S3 and complains all the time about how he cant climb because of his team having trolls/afker a lot of the time.

Iv been building my champ selection so I can get to Ranked games and in that time Iv gotten it so Im playing with Upper Gold low Plat players and some times a Diamond here and there. Games can be all over the place but its Normals and from what I read thats how they are. But still I win more often then not.

I finally get my 20 champs and Q up for Ranked.

First game is ~1530 MMR. 10m two afk after feeding... Loss

I go 2/9 with 5 games having afkers and 2 having trollers/toxic "Im going to feed now"

Im now in S5

Yes there were games I did not do well but for at least 5 of those 10 games there was NOTHING I could do to win it.

If this is what I can expect from Ranked games then NO thank you. I feel the placements were a joke.

It feels like doing Class Finals but having a class mate run in and ripe half of the test away and the Teacher saying "Sorry you are SOL here is your 'D'".

Here is a little dirty secret your friend doesn't tell you:

The reason he cannot climb, is because he's not good enough to climb. He complains about his teams, because he is unable to concede that he doesn't play any better than they do. Most likely, he doesn't even realize said fact. It's a really fascinating psychological phenomenon called the "Dunning-Kruger-Effect".

Think about it: If your friend was actually correct, no one would ever be able to climb past S3...because all those Plats, Dias and Masters have to play with, and through the same players as your friend. They play with and against the same players on their way up. And they manage to climb.

So, what's the difference between, say, a Stixxay and your friend?

Exactly: Your friend simply doesn't play as well as Stixxay.

Rediculous post. Silver is glutted with Diamond/Plat Smurfs atm who are in almost every single game. They are doing so because of bans, fun, stream donations, and they are literally making what should be winnable for a Gold player in silver impossible. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Well I dont think I had that many Smurfs in my placements (tho there were some with over 7.5 CS p/m seems really high.

What lost it for me what like my second to last game.

My Jungler Skarner went deep into enemy jungle and started a 1v4. Me and the ADC were "near" (in the river) but saw it was a bad fight and so ran and Skarner died. He freaks out on us for not "Backing him up"

He then afked farmed for 5m then literally stood at Crugs auto attacking them (no spells) and then was afk there for a few minutes.

Then we pinged Dragon and he backs and stays in base while the enemy takes Dragon. He ran from all team fights. He just stopped playing but did just enough to "Look" like he was playing. He lost us the game because it was 4v5

Smurfs don't just hyper carry. They also int feed, but generally do so in a way that "pretends" to be playing rather than one that's obvious.

If a Graves jung 0/6's early game to chases through turrets but then recovers to a score of something like 16/8, he's probably a smurf.

They have to lose more games than they win to smurf.

Your Skarner might have been doing that too.

Gold smurfs will out right int down lanes because they don't generally understand the thresholds to get banned. Plat/Diamonds know exactly how to do it and not get caught.

You'll see some games where a player's MECHANICS look insanely out of place, but their KDA ends up being pretty normal. Probably a smurf. You especially see this with Zed Akali players...... because they have trouble backing out of their wired play tendencies enough to hide their play styles. They will still clip their animations, and dodge what should be elo-ready deaths.... but then they remember...... hey! I want to lose this game..... and then they go back in, and feed.

This is why Smurfing should be bannable and Riot should actively work to remove it from Ranked. Normals is not thing but in Ranked it has everything of cheating.

I might have just run into a Zed who was smurfing....

http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=leosquare

His last 20 or so games aren't super impressive except for his 32/14 Norms game, but....

He's pulling 63% Zed even with a lot of troll games.

And I was midding vs him so I got a taste of how he played....

Before I was 6, I pretty much could only skill on Ahri to farm. I couldn't auto farm. He would Shadow clone and set off 2 Shurikens and Shadow spin within .5 second, and was accurate. At level 3 or so, he hit me with 2 shurikens and Ignite and Shadow walked to me under my own turret and outted.

Post 6, He tried to kill me with Ult 3 times in a row. I was holding out my own ult, but even when I R'd on his R to avoid hits, he was setting off shadows before I could get out of their range, and getting significant damage off.

My only saving grace: I was running Phase Rush, and was getting outside the range of his second Shuriken Hit so Electrocute wasn't going off.

I survived the first chase ult with 8 HP. The second I survived with about 110 HP. By the third I had set up 3-4 kills on him or his jungler kindred and he slowly became a nonfactor trader who was taking 1 kill for 1 death.

I don't know many Bronze III Zeds who can execute their entire combo mid-air with almost absolute success when 1v1 in .5 seconds.

My guess? He's about Gold II, possibly off a Ban. He didn't know how to stay punishing. He began reacting to his teams' mistakes and creating openings for himself that a Plat or Diamond wouldn't.

He also often feeds way more than a Plat or Diamond Zed would. He still has that "yolo Gold" feel.

But...... if I was a Bronze/Silver Mid, I prob would have fed him 7/0.

Well that maybe so but so far what he has said looks to be true. 10 games and 5 of them there was nothing I could do would change the outcome.

What I dont get is that in my normals people are much smarter and there are less trolls it seems. Now that could be that Im playing with Upper Gold low Plat players and they have more awareness of what is happening. As for the the Ranked games. Even out side the afks/Trolls some players just dont look at the map or listen to pings at all.

Maybe Plat, Diamond and Master are there because they are matched with smarter players on their teams. Maybe its luck. Maybe some mix of the two.

We will see but Im guessing Silver will be such a jumbled mess of players climbing will be like how my friend see it.
