Riot: What did you do to pathing in the last 6 months?

Got to love the new pathing that makes you walk a maze just from one click to walk around your minion wave.

What ever it was it has cause countless uncontrollable deaths just because the game bugs out.

At this point they should just get rid of creep block since they have proven for years they cant code pathing around them

I had a game where I was running away from the tower, both me and Aatrox barely survived the fight with each other then my Darius randomly walks to the left for a split second because of a cannon minion and I ate another tower shot and died.

Yeah what the actual fuck did they do.

Whatever you do, NEVER click on an enemy champion instead of moving your champ manually. No matter what it'll move to fuck you over. It'd be funny if it wasn't so fucking annoying.

In one game my champion literally turned around and walked back to get around a minion its fucking ridiculous

I got stuck under my mid tower because of one minion between the tower and the wall.

Early game top trying to trade - both me and the enemy couldn't get to each other. My champion literally spun in circles, some of the goofiest stuff I've ever seen. It is terrible, and obviously something was done early S10 lately. How else would we all make it here to question it?

  • absurd minion block especially if u are melee vs range and get stuck into own minions resulting in 2-3 more basic attacks taken

Commenting as a Jungler.

One thing I noticed recently is that if you auto path straight to Scuttle from base (through your Red Side Jungle), the auto pathing draws noticeably straight lines on the minimap to Raptors then to Scuttle. Before it used to curve around the terrain. I half suspect the change has something to do with preloading certain fixed points and paths to help optimize pathing over long distances. This also means that I suspect that Riot has definitely changed something about autopathing recently, which may be manifesting in the weirder minion block you've noticed recently.

Just a little tangible and recreatable observation for those who know how auto pathing coding works to help speculate.

Past 6 months? Try past 6 years. The pathing has been complete shit as far back as I can remember.

most path finding code chooses the shortest distance. each click will recalculate this. so you were on the edge of left and right.

i hardly ever saw it in WC3

I love when I go to last hit a melee minion that's attacking my own melee minions, all of which are stationary attacking each other, and my champ literally walks around my minions and to the side of the the minion I targeted.

Seriously, its painful enough having your own minions steal your last hits because Judgment can be unreliable.. but having that happen and trying to mix in autos that can have you walking in random directions is quite frustrating.

I can say for certain I didnt eve notice these wild pathing choices before Garen's rework and shortly after but recently its been super super noticeable.

this is why I always click like half a teemo in front of me, prevents this issue sometimes
