85% of this community are 16 and below. It is absolutely horrid and I wish that the adults could queue separately. I'm tired of playing this game with little kids that just wanna bully everyone around, no fun.

i went on a net cafe the other day , and like 20-25 15 year olds or even younger were playing league of legends... and they were swearing their ass off , like serious stuff.. "get cancer" etc..

Just to clear things up, I don't mind kids and playing games with them, but exactly what I'm talking about is what you just said. It's the whole "get cancer" crap and everything else they say. The stuff they say doesn't offend me, but it's pretty sad to have to witness middle school bullying all over again lol. I guess the new way to be cool and fit in is to talk without a brain and call everyone retarded, you can't even prove them wrong when they shit talk ya, you just get called retarded again lol.

Arakadia58 votes

Please don't act like its only kids who bully. There are adults who are dickwads too.

The difference is kid's do it more often, atleast usually.

e46 Fanatic5 votes

I won't disagree with that. However, it is only the youngins that become an issue for me. If you or any of your buddies act this way, tell them now, it is only a very sad thing what they're doing and they need immediate counseling.

Arakadia12 votes

Unfortunately alot of my non-adult friends are pretty shitty at being mature. I really hate how cancer, suicide, and death are treated so lightly.

So your point has merit, I would just include that there are polite and aware kids. I doubt most people I play with or who see my good posts (like my champion concepts) would think I'm 14, but I am.

Thanks for the replies brotha, btw, I hope you weren't offended when I mentioned 'kids being the main problem for me', in general I have nothing against someone younger than me, I was that age at one point and heck, I'm only 19 its not like I'm some grown man. No need to keep this conversation going, but lemme say something. Arakadi you will be a man of money one day. Regardless of your grammar skillzz, you're a very smart dude.glhf

There was a post recently asking Riot that they are having difficulty playing this game since they mostly play it with their kids nearby and asked if the removal of the lines if one had the chat filter on. Riot possible saw it and found the coding for it to hard to do so they probably decided to remove them.

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

That post was down voted. Man that sucks, I hope this untrue.

Anidan4 votes

It was actually upvoted, I remember the thread. But he asked if applying the chat filter would censor the lines, not remove them outright, and he knew full well that they may not be able to do that. I'm going to repeat or else people like to spread rumors and gossip about the untrue: he did not advocate removal of the lines, only the ability to opt into censoring lines with cursing (which is a pretty small selection of lines) on your own end.

4th3t0s6 votes

Right, rather than show some self-restraint when playing games with questionable content around CHILDREN, he fucked it up for everyone.

Anidan3 votes

I'm not defending either side, because I don't really care about the issue myself, but can I just remind you that you're talking about voice-over lines on a game that for a champion that isn't even released yet? The lines don't even give any extra detail of the characters or anything, they were just there. It's not a loss to their personality or the world around either them or us for them to lose those lines in particular.

This is graves' cigar levels of petty complaint, here.

4th3t0s3 votes

No, what I'm concerned about is issues like this giving people the idea that whining enough about something will get it changed rather than accepting you just might not like something and you have to deal with it; we're devolving into a society of bratty, entitled children at this rate and it disgusts me.

Edit: While you do make a valid point bringing up Graves' cigar, that was a national censorship issue for a company that markets itself on a global level; this is hypersensitive snowflakes that insist on everything else changing to suit their own little worlds rather than exert the smallest bit of effort themselves to accept they can't change everything, and simply avoid it if it truly is that bothersome.

Anidan2 votes

I mean, have you seen these boards? These people do the same thing in regards to other issues like balance and we shrug that one off. We let them decry champion designs as "toxic" and let that sit as enough reason to warrant a rework; we let them sit and decry strategies like split-pushing as "toxic" and let them try to remove everything that allows for that strategy. When toxic in this case means nothing more than "I don't like it" and they demand it be changed on grounds of that alone, and not only is it never brought up, it's endorsed--different from valuable criticism, this seeks change for the sake of personal preference, regardless of anything else surrounding the creations they want to revoke. Censorship of speech in a non-offensive game that isn't governmentally-regulated sounds like less of an issue of entitlement than changing the nature of the game itself because they don't like some of the elements of the game and think they have to be catered to in all respects of said game.

I'm full-well aware of what you're arguing for in terms of entitlement, but this, to me, rings so low compared to almost everything else this community complains about that I simply don't care about it in comparison. They censored profanity in their own game at the behest of players; how is this more worthy of complaint than someone asking to nerf a champion who's considered to be just fine by much of the playerbase and they simply don't want to acclimate and Riot acquiescing to that demand? Or the mob rule in dictating how you have to play your game, as seen in cases like the Support Nunu with an alternative strategy? That's forced utilitarianism in a game that encourages you to play for fun, but that obviously isn't fun for the Nunu player forced into a subpar play-style at the behest of his team, is it? Those all seem like entitlement to me as well, and of an equally dangerous sort: the type that seeks to change the experiences of everyone else to be bent toward their own.

And to answer the edit I saw that you appear to have removed: Yes, I have read 1984. This is not Orwellian. If anything, I feel they'd bring on something more akin to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World where they attempt to keep everyone placated by way of excess pleasure so you focus solely on the good rather than letting you face the grim reality of the world you're living in more than policing the thoughts of others specifically to maintain control over them. They strike me less as dictators intent on controlling people through maintained ignorance and more akin to a force of ultimately misguided good that seeks to eliminate the bad in the world from the public's perspective and do so by methods that look absurd unless you share their fanaticism and can make those same leaps of logic in what is best for the general public as they do.

As an aside, please do note that I fully respect your side in terms of combating entitlement, I just don't happen to have a stake in this particular part of it. Keep fighting the good fight if you can muster the energy. More power to you.

It's so hard to turn down your speakers, or god forbid put on headphones or...I dunno....be a parent and don't ignore your kids to play a video game.

If people are so worried about their kids hearing that stuff, maybe be a normal adult/parent and...I dunno...don't play it around them? lol But yeah, instead it is fucked up for everyone.

I haven't heard them and already I cringe.

Riot should stay away from the toilet humor and South Park-esque "Jokes".

Exactly.

I found a friend on the boards.

I say this, I get downvoted 72 times with replies like "their VO is awesome stfu ur just salty"

"Shit" seems like a remarkably underwhelming word to censor out of a game rated Teen, especially under this context.

You figure, meanwhile, I'm playing Blazblue, another Teen rated game, and the main protag says things like "You little bitch! Piss off!" "You…piece of shit!" and "Worthless trash!" while fighting on the regular and not one person bats an eye.

Risk of Fate1 votes

Doesn't Ragna drop an F bomb now and again?

1 800 GGTOOEZ3 votes

"Shit" is used in multiple times in StarCraft II, and Sgt Hammer uses "fuck" in one of the co-op missions. Still a T-rated game.

4th3t0s8 votes

........are you fucking kidding me, a T-rated game getting censored because some SJW asshole complained? This is the Overwatch Tracer pose all over again.

The grand irony is that situation brought more attention to her ass than leaving it alone would have. Widowmaker is jealous.

While I don't really care if the champ swears or not, why have the the new champs curse? It was funny on kled because he was a drunk redneck and its used as more of a comedic effect rather than the straight insult edginess they were going with xayah

DoktorKaiser7 votes

Hey I'm 22 and curse like a truck driver, but I still kind of dont feel that its good for champs to start cursing, actually I think its fucking horrible, it just breaks the immersion and doesnt feel right in this universe. Just my personal opinion, they shouldnt ever put cursing in champ voiceover, hell we all see it every single game anyway.

SirΤeemο3 votes

mythical creatures with super abilities can't swear? when they are literally FIGHTING .

DoktorKaiser3 votes

As I said after 7 years of playing league, it just feels wrong for them to suddenly start swearing and acting like typical american teenagers. I dont understand why you care so much about 2 terrible voice lines that totally dont fit the rest of the game, if you want swearing come to cs 1.6 and yell insults at random people as much as you want, its really relieving.

Chembaron Yamada5 votes

It depends on the character in my opinion. Would someone who is designed to be enlightened and about harmony like Karma say stuff like that? Probably not.

Someone like Kled who is a crazy veteran? It would be strange if he wouldn't curse.

Xayah is a young rebel. She probably lived in a rough society and it makes sense for her.

You can't just say it makes no sense for any champ to use such words. They are all different in their personality.

Karunamon2 votes

I dont understand why you care so much about 2 terrible voice lines that totally dont fit the rest of the game

Because the reason for their removal is a joke and carries some pretty poor implications for the decision making at Riot HQ. LoL is a T rated game with blood, death, swearing, and that's before we get into the chat box, which given the stuff I see over in on the PB&M board, should be grounds for an AO rating.

Spareatick4 votes

Wait what!?!? What quotes were removed?

SirΤeemο23 votes

"Shit i think I broke a nail" "More little shits"

KVbqbFsC8e7 votes

If they want to permaban people for saying things like that, then they probably shouldn't have the champions saying it either.

Mecha MaIphite17 votes

I've said a lot worse than "shit" and I haven't even gotten chat restricted.

Swearing isn't the same thing as being toxic.

Kuronii Lumiira19 votes

Exactly. You can say "well, shit" or "shit, I forgot masteries" or what-have-you as much as you want.

But, if you say something like, "you're a useless piece of shit, and you're nothing but a detriment to our team", that's when alarms start going off. (bonus points if you keep saying stuff like that across many games)

chipndip124 votes

That justifies "More little shits"

Not "Shit I broke a nail", though.

TyrekGoldenspear4 votes

It isn't a matter of being easily offended; Riot has been more and more liberal with adding swear words into the game, and personally I'm glad they found a line to draw. Trust me, those lines are no real loss, we can still cut ourselves on the edge of the rest of her VO.

Also, I'm more surprised you're making a rather large deal out of this.

Canastus3 votes

God Fist Lee Sin is a lot more toxic tbh and he's still allowed to exist.

There is no law that says a ten year old cannot play League of Legends, the ESRB ratings apply to retailers selling content and have nothing to do with who can play them.

Just like high school kids can smoke cigarettes, but you legally have to be 18 to BUY them... but there is no law that says you can't smoke them under the age of 18.

Maximum Morde2 votes

Kinda meh. I don't really care one way or the other, but there was no reason to remove them. They fit with the "edgy teenager" theme. They were also inline with the game's Teen rating.
