Put unranked players into Bronze 5

Unranked players with no previous season ranked experience should NOT be in placement games at Silver 1-2. Every time I'm in promos from Silver 1-2, or my Gold promos I get a player on my team with 0 wins and no understanding of how to play in ranked. While one player cannot win the game, they can definetly lose the game for their team. This bogus, broken placement system is completely unfair for experienced players by forcing them to play with dead weight on their team. FIX the Ranking placement system.

I agree that unranked players in their placement matches should not be in games with players currently in their promos, however restricting them to a rank below Silver 1-2 may be a little harsh. If they win 9/10 of their placement they should probably be at least Silver 1/2.

I had that issue climbing out of bronze.

I don't know what the mmr is for an unranked player but I don't understand why I found most of them scattered around silver and gold rather than bronze. Bronze was an easy climb, once I hit silver I started getting players doing their placements and worst of all due queuing with someone so you can't even give them advice without them sperging out and getting their duo to talk shit or afk with them, it's honestly cancer and makes no sense.

Riot needs to rework the mmr and ranked ladders as a whole, LP gain and loss makes no sense and should be adjusted, balancing should be fixed too.

I met a guy brand new to the game who got placed into Gold V because he got lucky and won all 10 of his games. He didn't know Riven had a knockup.

That's... stupid. Silver is supposed to be the "average" skill level. If they have no games in Ranked then they'll start in Silver ranks in terms of promos until the system decides where they should go next.

You start in the middle, not the bottom.

Hi. I can tell that you don't understand how a competitive system works. For someone to climb someone else has to lose. Because of that, wherever you start people becomes the mid point of the population. Thus if you begin starting people in bronze 5, that becomes the new mid point and all of the folks who were silver, become bronze 5. Along with all the people who are already bronze 5. Then bronze 5 will hold like 60% of the player base with huge mmr discrepancies between people in the same division. Riot decided that having a majority of the player base in bronze 5 would be very bad so they put it at ~mid silver instead.

I think that bronze 1-2 would be fair. I cannot tell you how many people I have seen do placements, go 2-8 or 3-7 and get silver 3-5 because the other unranked players in the promos have an estimated mmr of silver. This is not an average performance 2-8 should be somewhere in bronze, not considered the "standard" skill level coming off of placements.

Shoot my cousin this year went 2-8 and got silver 4. Not to be mean, but he can't even average 50 cs @ 10 laning as adc. Yet this is considered to be the standard player?

It has to do with MMR EVen when you are unranked, higher MMR means higher tier players you are with, and at the start of the season if everyone played with bronze players, the matches would be unfair

put all unranked into bronze 5 and make wood division a reality

No. Just no. Bronze 5 is for the worst of the worst, new players shouldn't start with the worst of the sever.

Why should I be placed in bronze 5 simply because I don't want to play ranked? There are already a number of people on these boards that will disregard anything someone says from their rank, so why make it worse?

This would solve very little whilst causing a number of issues to those shoved into a rank that means their thoughts are "worthless"

DunkinNoobs10/28/2016, 6:45:16 PM2 votes

The average fresh lvl 30 player is nowhere near Bronze 5 quality. Making them play through that cesspool is a punishment no man should have to go through unless they dug themselves into that mess.

This is a terrible idea. Players are placed and matched up with opponents of similar MMR. The reason someone who is bronze 4 level is placed into a silver level game is because they won a placement match and Riot is trying to properly gauge their skill level.

they cant because there are more smurfs than new players. the average player in ranked is at about silver 4. so thats where they have to stick them.

Scary Door10/29/2016, 7:00:00 AM2 votes

Probably about the worst suggestion I've heard to date on these boards.

Turning Bronze into an even bigger smurf-shit-storm while simultaneously frustrating the players that are higher and lower skill levels just doesn't make sense.

Lower skilled players learn nothing by being overwhelmingly destroyed by those that are multiple divisions higher than them and higher skill level players are (unless just a sociopath) bored by stomping lowly Bronzies. That's not how a competitive ladder or a "sport" works. Imagine if they added a new expansion team to Major League Baseball, but told them that they first had to play a bunch of Single-A and Rookie-ball players.

If you have no previous ranked experience on your account and go into ranked, it uses your current normal Summoner's Rift 5v5 MMR as a baseline, which seems reasonable. If you're the average player and do well in your placements then you'll likely be in high silver or maybe even low gold, if not, then low silver or Bronze. If you're below average then even 10-0 placements may not get you much above Bronze I.

Are you me lmao? Just last night I had a ranked game with a Janna where it was her first time playing Ranked. She went 0/8/6. Keep in mind this was in my Gold promos.

I don't agree with starting people in Bronze V and I don't think it's going to happen. People don't like being told that they suck. If a level 30 finishes placements and sees that they get put in Bronze V, they might decide that ranking is not worth it and just quit instead. I think level 30's starting ranked placements should begin at around Silver V MMR and work from there. Once you start learning about the game, getting out of Silver V isn't hard, and people that are worse than Silver will just demote or stop playing anyways. It's a good starting point for new players without having the frustration and derision that is being put in Bronze. If someone gets demoted to Bronze, then you'll know they deserved to be put there.
