Chat Restriction or Chat Correction?

Players that have been "Chat Restricted" should still be able to communicate with their team, as communication is a MAJOR part of this game. I have a friend who was chat restricted (And then chat restricted a second time for failing to communicate with his team during his first sentence, I mean wut?) and even though it probably was deserved, he's a good player who tries his damnedest to help his team win.

This becomes a problem. If a baby starts to cry, putting a muzzle on it is not going to fix it. It's still crying, it's still going to behave and perform just like a baby, just quieter.

TL;DR: Instead, we should try to DOMESTICATE these players. Instead of removing their ability to chat, force them to type their sentences CORRECTLY and disallow misspellings and vulgar words.

It's like training a pack of dogs. Very vicious, toxic, uneducated dogs.

Yes, people should have to type each sentence out fully and correctly. Instead of saying "comin bot 1sec" they should have to type

"I will arrive at the bottom lane as soon as I can to help suppress the enemy players. Thank you for pinging in a timely manner and I hope we can successfully end the enemy's attempt to stop you from acquiring much needed gold. Together, as a team, forever. Sincerely, Jarvan IV the dragon slayer."

"Coming bot 1 sec" That would be acceptable.

You can't do that. If you make a dictionary of words you can't use, they will find a way to say it (just say "f**k you", problem solved) and, if you make a dictionary of words you can use, then you'll be in trouble every time you don't know X word or the dictionary doesn't contain a word you want to use, and also it'll take time to analyze the text in order to be published in the chat.

as communication is a MAJOR part of this game

That's the whole point: Comunication is vital in this game, and flaming and insulting you are just crippling your team's communication. You'll be forced to not communicate so you learn to value that tool, and also you don't harm other players that are trying to actually use that tool.

As a side note, pings are enough to communicate, at least, I usually just pings things, and I only write when I'm at base or coming to lane, and even then, I just write short, non-well-written (?) sentences like "I'll blue" or "They are drake", for the sake of not losing time.

But the point is that the team should not be penalized with a 5th teammate who cannot communicate.

Punish those who disobey the rules, not the whole class. Punishing the whole class doesn't do anything except give that toxic player attention. Our current system punishes the teammates rather than the toxic player.

If he's gonna flame, it's better for us as a team to have him not being able to communicate: he would just destroy our chat.

I understand your point: if X can't communicate, then every player that plays with him will be hurt too, but, in practice, X will just flame to his team (if he will not, then he wouldn't be banned in the first place).

I feel it would be good, but I think the restriction is better then a correction. Typing is useful, but having it removed helps them reflect on how much they'd want to say something constructive like they want to ward or flash timers, etc... while ALSO being able to see that it was probably good they couldn't chat so they wouldn't be flaming their support for taking their cannon minion and that they should die and that they are a (insert racist term here). This will hopefully let them possibly think about what they should/shouldn't be saying and that they will improve from that point on. If not, they will continue to get restrictions.

Oh one thing I DID just think about, though, is that maybe they should still allow the player to type, but just not let others see it? Also after the game, let the player have the option to view and read what they said in the game. For me, when I'm angry/mad, I will usually lash out and just say hurtful things without actually realizing/noticing it, but in the aftermath, when my anger is gone, I realize I was in the wrong. Maybe this is a way they could improve the current system instead.
