I feel so helpless in my ranked games

Yes, I know you've heard it many times before. I feel so goddamn helpless in these games. It feels like I'm just playing the ranked lottery over and over again. It is so draining.

How the fuck can i win these games?

Your most played champion (Ekko), you have 215 games played, with a 47% win rate and a 5.3 cs/min average. That's terrible. Sure, sometimes you get bad teammates, but it seems like you are not performing well yourself either.

On Ahri, you have 34 games with a 53% winrate, which is a slight improvement, but your cs/min is still very low at 5.8. This becomes even worse if you count that you play champions that have pretty easy waveclear.

Improve yourself and your own mechanics and laning patterns and macro and all those things before complaining. Seeing your damage dealt, you quite often deal most damage in your team, which means that you probably only try to fight and ignore other aspects on the game, like farming to outpace the enemy or taking objectives.

^this. If every time I was stuck at an elo I was told it was my teammate's fault, I would still be hard stuck bronze 5. Idk why people are agreeing with these people's"my teams are holding me back" posts now when they didn't before. When youre good enough to advance, you will advance, plain and simple.

Because people have just now realized that the matchmaking system has flaws to it and they believe that those flaws are the reason why they can't climb.

Snowman Arc4 votes

I can understand to an extent that matchmaking is stupid and some games are lost because of the team and you can do nothing about it, but that's some games. A 47% winrate on the most played champion with bad cs numbers is pointing to something else.

This CS argument is so overused really in silver.

I mean I don't know his case, but in general. You can't really CS a lot in silver if your lane gets overrun fast and the whole game is a kill fest. Sure some games are there where CS is the key, but with such a chaotic game and unstructured gameplay, there are not enough creeps since the opponent is not pushing his lane and your team doesn't offer you enough vision to cross over the center.

Just take bot lane for example, if mid is camping there, bye bye CS for both sides since a mid won't abstain to get a wave

Then there's so much action. Even as ADC if I stay and farm, my team for some reason will 4v5 and die offering enemy team a free objective

Snowman Arc3 votes

You can always find ways to farm up and get items, no matter what. I can do it in both mid and bot and in silver, gold and plat. As long as the champion is autopilot on farming, I don't see why it's hard.

GripaAviara1 votes

I'm really curious about a silver account that manages to get 7/10 games a CS over 7.5/min constantly and ofc win 7/10 games in the process

Snowman Arc1 votes

I did that, and it's why I climbed. If anyone wants to climb, they have to try.

this will tell you why you are losing games, you are being out performed in every aspect except for not dying, well despite popular belief not losing doesn't equate to winning.

Sure this applies for carries like Ekko, but what about anyone playing noncarry roles? Being " carriable" doesn't seem to have near the merits it's proclaimed. For as much as "just don't feed" gets said, it doesn't seem to help when the allied midlaner is 2/0/0 but the allied bot is 0/6/1 12 minutes in.

Is there any point to playing a noncarry in low elo?

TempName548461 votes

its not about "carry" or "carriable" its about impact and low impact, there's no point in playing low impact in low elo, you can have a higher impact on most champions by adjusting your playstyle and shit not just by spamming kat mid.

Marshbouy2 votes

I'm gonna give you the skinny because I really should have gone to bed an hour ago.

  1. Identify the mistakes you're making. You can do this by watching a high elo player analyze the gameplay of people who play similarly champions/roles as you and applying the information that you learn to your own gameplay.

  2. Work on fixing those mistakes.

  3. Remember that it's not a sprint, it's a marathon and at the end of the day the only thing that truly matters is if you improved or not. The lottery will fuck you over on the scale of a few games, but it affects everyone equally. If you keep at it then you will eventually climb, as long as you are better than those you are playing with and against.

Ya know... It's all luck bbygurl. I've come to realize rank ain't about skill anymore. Just a long, begrudging climb.

My advice would be pick a champ to 1-trick with. A champ that isn't on the most banned list, Mine is kennen top currently. Nobody plays him, nobody bans him. Every game I play with Kennen I identify how well i do against my opponent, how my opponent scales into the mid-game vs me. Whether or not I need to attempt to bully them or afk farm till 6. It also helps to have a talented friend w/ voice chat to play either jungle or botlane with you. I communicate with my jungler regularly about whether my lane needs help, needs to be avoided, or is soloable. It's very important to understand within the first trade whether you can win the next trade or if you need to poke them out of lane. It's better to out poke them and they recall than you trade and die.

If you wanna main jungle then my advice would be to follow jungle paths. They were made for a reason, because they work, also watching how high elo junglers play their junglers / the jungler you want to play helps.

Andevar3 votes

Not even that, you need to pick a good hypercarry champ to one-trick. Some champs are just nearly impossible to solo-carry with.

Mhihnj1 votes

roamers, assassins, enchanters, artillery mages and hard core team fighters are usually good champs for climbing.

Luck has absolutely nothing to do with climbing. Sure, you'll lose games because you got unlucky and your teammates all fed, but not all games are going to be like that. If you want to climb, you have to find a strategy that works for you. Practice and perfect it. You don't get to climb before you improve. When you start looking for your own mistakes in games instead of your teammates you start becoming a better player and you will naturally play better and end up climbing.

Ahri Body Pillow4 votes

Luck most definitely plays a role in ranked. Obviously, skill is important too. However, no-one is skilled enough to carry each and every single one of their games. You are going to get games where your team is simply too heavy, or the enemy team is just too good. Especially down here in gold. I think that besides silver it has the largest skill level range of any ranked tier.

I am aware that I do not play perfectly. No-one does. Fuck, SKT T1 Bang threw World's for his team, and he's one of the best players in the world. It is still frustrating that in some situations it does not matter how well I do...no matter how much I ward, how little I die, how many clutch Thresh hooks or Ashe ults I land, I simply cannot carry the team. Unfortunately, it seems as if solo skills matters less than ever this season.

If it’s coming down to luck, then you’re at your true elo. You and your opponents are pushing yourselves to the limits of your abilities, and the outcomes of your matches depend on even the slightest advantages.

If you want to reach a higher elo, then you’ll have to actually get better at the game. Get more farm. Find chances to poke. Call for ganks and dives. Etc. It won’t be easy, but if it were easy we wouldn’t do it.

Herald Est Mors2 votes

Let me tell you, no matter how hard you try you can't win if your team is trash. You can pull S ranks every game and still end up demoting. The MMR system is broken and Riot doesn't care about your individual skill. The want to show off your skill, join a professional team. For the rest of us nonprofessionals, the climb is a steep one, and you got your troll top laners and off-meta junglers slowly cutting at the rope keeping you from falling back down to the tier below.

NaturesMayhem2 votes

Just don't bother. You have two options. Either you learn how to play insanely well with hyper carries, which will only improve your chances by a bit. If you get unlucky and your team feeds, you're going to be swimming against the tide regardless. Or you can play flex with 5 man premade of people you know so you can make an effort to fix mistakes as a team, which still only works so well. All in all, you have to play a LOT of ranked games as well if you expect to climb. Because it's RNG if you're doing solo quene even if you learn to win a good amount of games, there will always be losses to even it out. My tip is this, give up on ranked now that you have accepted that you can only do so much and skill plays little part in it. Just play normals like everyone else, the game is too frustrating to take seriously. So either play ranked and not care, or play norm and not have a reason to care.

Honestly games are a lot harder to solo carry now if you do not play certain roles / champs. Even smurfing now feels like crap because if bot feeds or if enemy jungle just spam ganks compared to ours then it's hopeless early / mid game. It's way too team reliant now compared to other seasons where every lane could solo carry a game.

This game legit trolls me in ranked queue. Games leading up to promos feel typical, some hot some cold, but usually, since I feel like I punch above my weight from the mid lane, games are manageable and climbing is alright. But trying to win a Bo5 promotions when literally it goes from "manageable" to "multiple games of 0/6 yi and 0/13 bot lane" There's magic being done to promotion matchmaking.

Let me explain something to you.

  1. Can you make yourself get better teammates?

The answer is no. It doesn't matter what you do. Call them retarded, complain about it on the boards/reddit/social media, it's not gonna change shit.

stop giving a fuck about garbage teammates. You can't do anythiing about it.

What you can do is to improve how you play. 5.3 cs/min is garbage, consider fixing that first. You aren't hardstuck because it's a lottery, you are hardstuck _because you aren't good. _

I made a post about how ranked flex fucked me over and put me in bronze 4 the lowest I've ever been. I've not placed in bronze since season 3 and 4. I than decided to finish my solo/duo and got silver 4. I played a game after than and got a game full of trolls so I was just like "fuck I'm silver again this season"

Heos002 votes

Don't play flex queue, that queue is always a fiesta filled with silvers in soloque that are diamonds or plat in flex LUL

Sona Ping1 votes

You're not supposed to. The decision has been made to make the game more attractive to draw new players and move into a more "casual direction", so they are making game mechanics and champions with high minimums of performance, catering to complaints, covering mistakes and reducing the skill gap. However, the necessary consequences of this is that reducing the skill gap also reduces the amount of things you can do and reducing the opportunities you have to get an advantage and get yourself a win.

Because Riot thinks that for a MOBA, a game type whose attraction is its depth and learning the game that a person will be playing basically the same thing for hundreds of hours, the best thing to do is to keep removing the benefits of experience.

I've never tried it, but apparently there are a lot of Discord pages where you can find a mentor to help you raise your ranked level. Some charge a fee, though.
