why hiemer is not fun to play or play against (not op)

riot has said they want to design champions that are fun to play and fun to play against. i dont know what meter they are using but personally it think it is off. first thing is that some champions like kassadin are no longer fun to play , for me is because he get outscaled and pushed early or gets pushed late, there is no place for him currently, but riot has seen this and are trying to give him some buffs to improve this.

on the other hand some champions are no fun to play against, specifically hiemer. im not saying hiemer is op or too strung, but it is not fun that level 1 he has 3 turrets up that are a bitch to kill and auto lock on you as you approach. it is not fun to miss the first 6 waves of cs because of one ability. further more with all the damage the turrets do and how hard they are to kill early hiemers other abilities do a significant amount of damage themselves.

i have won lanes against hiemer and lost some, but in all cases i did not have fun laning against him. i know whk. unlike azir and yorik who either micro their pets or the pet are short lived laning against hiemer is like laning against teh computer. and when i play soloque or normals i dont want to play against the computer.

this is probably why yorik is not fun to play against as well, because the majority is the computer doing the actions.

so i finally figuered out what i dont like about hiemer and why i dont like playing him, because im not playing him the computer is.

Heimerdinger is one of those champions with no middle ground. Either he hard-counters his lane opponent, or his lane opponent hard-counters him. Same goes for teamfighting. If his team is forced to be the ones engaging, he becomes quite ineffective. Whereas, if the enemy team are the ones engaging, he becomes incredibly hard to deal with.

I experience both sides of this in an ARAM game as Heimerdinger last night. At one point, my team wouldn't stop engaging on the enemy team and I was pretty useless. But as soon as the enemy started engaging on us, we started to win fights.

Realistically, it is poor game design the forces Heimer into being a niche pick that can leave him overbearing, or easily manageable depending on how well/poorly you play as or against him.

Donger is lots of fun. Even when countered you have to know how to use that counter. even wen countered let him get item 3116 and 2-3 turrets on you and see how well you counter him. Team fights even when team is engaging like Blue Quaker is talking about you have 3 ults you can pick from and a PENTA STUN IS OP AS FUCKK if you can land it. Once you get a lane pushed and team fighting you can hold a lane for ever until team goes B and comes back a lot of times. In ARAM you have to use the bushes and own that side and let team work other. When laneing you don't have to focus super hard on CS you can stick back poke and enjoy the which is a nice change now and again. The biggest counter Donger has is a good opponent team that will stop you from getting 3 turrets up before minion spawn and keeps helping kill turrets randomly. Making farming really hard. A jung that just walks out smites 1, eats the dmg from the other to kill it then goes B. Or a BOT that comes over to kill all them before going B and your bot doesn't follow. Those are a real pain in the ass early on. Heimerdinger and I can solo Drake at like lvl 9 from the back, behind the wall and never get in there, without out ult, just 3 turrets.
