Before the Revert

Judging from the Twit and how most of the community is feeling about positional rank, it is looking to soon be reverted back. So, I wanted to give some ideas on how to improve it rather than send it back to the shelf. Granted, this might be different for higher ranks(Silver player over here). Ok, so let's start by mentioning the problems positional rank is presenting right now: 1. it is harder to climb 2. low points for winning and 3. being matched with better players.

  1. We all have noticed that it has been harder to climb due to the points being distributed to the other positions and now that we are a month into Ranked. I have noticed that, even while losing, I have been feeling "stuck" in the rank I'm more so than before. Again, while that also depends on my performance, I do feel like most feel the same way.
  2. There is also the problem tied to the first point where you get really low points for winning, making the climb harder.
  3. Last point has been the least noticeable for me, but, for high elo players they seem to get matched into their "off" roles into way lower Divisions.

How to fix, at least my proposal,: In order to address the difference in ranked divisions, I think there should be brackets within two divisions, meaning, that even if you are Diamond 3 in your main role, you should at least be putted into Diamond 5 for your off-role(s). Meaning that if you went up to D2 in your main role, it would bring the other D5 role into D4 with zero points. I think this would keep it fresh and you'll be matched up with players of your own skill. This would stop of course if you go into Masters, where it would bring it to D3, Grandmaster would mean D2, and Challenger D1. This is without counting the points added for your wins.

Now, for the roles there should be tiers. Let's say you're a Mid main but you completed all your placements and have all positions receiving points. However, you occasionally play Jungle and ADC, but do not touch Top and Support. Instinctively, you would like to earn more points on Jg and AD rather than the other two. For that, there should be tiers where your second role should receive 5 points a win, 3 for your third role, and 1 point for each of the other two. This would help keep your competitive in your secondary roles while also being able to improve on the less played ones. "But I do not care if I get the least played two roles", for that, there should be Bonus points if you get a win on your least played two roles; both LP for that roles and for your other two main roles(5 or 3 points boost). If you usually play Autofill, you should get 3 points into each position since "you do not have a preference".

Finally, there should always be a feeling of progression. In that case, I think there should be On Fire and Comeback bonuses for your LP. If you are in a winning steak, 3 games and forth, you should not only get more LP , but you should receive 1 more point for your Secondary position(6 in total), 5 points for third(in total), and 3 for the other two. This would give a feeling of accomplishment since you "upgraded" for doing good. The other side, the feeling of being in Loss streak, should be solved by having a Comeback bonus on your first win after a Loss Streak; both LP and Bonuses for other positions. This would make it more impactful on getting out of losing a bunch of games. Both of this SHOULD show in the after-game screen by a cool effect so it is more visible; none likes invisible points. A little outta topic,my last point I want to make is to add some sort of punishment for high deaths. While none likes toxic people, and some of us can have an off game, I feel that it would be good to add a system where if your average deaths are higher than your teammates by a high enough percentage it should be consider "Griefing" and you should be denied of all these bonuses due to consistent bad performance. While I understand it could be little abrasive for some players, I do feel that "passive feeding" has been problem for some time and should be addressed.

Thank you for anyone reading, please let me know what you agree and disagree on the comments; I do hope they work on Positional to make it work rather than just shelving it for the sake of commodity.

It will most likely be ignored or out right over look, but I do want to still say it. Thank you Ed for working hard and trying your best to make the game better. Thank you for being a shining example of going above and beyond to make something you believe in the best it possible can. It’s just sad that all your hard work was for null. [cass-cry]

My only problem with positional ranks is that I don't get full LP for my main role. Maybe they could just make it a hidden autofill rank or something.

If I pick a primary role different from my main rank, then positional ranks are great. It means I want to try something new and actually play that role. It makes sense I'd be judged separately for that performance. However, if I am forced to play secondary or fill, I don't want to be LP penalized for it. I don't mind playing the roles but I do mind the slow down in climbing when I am actually trying to do so.

A fourth point. There is little penalty for intentionally losing a game where you got autofilled. The splashing loss is so small it's negligible. There's little incentive to win autofilled games as the LP gain is tiny as well.

Good ideas but I just want the revert, never go back to this Rito.

I think they should give it more time before reverting. League is an inherently stressful game and the new system is an easy scapegoat.

I'm personally finding problems with the modes not using the new system. Flex queue matchmaking is really bad atm.
