Why are bruiser builds nolonger supported?

I can't be slightly tanky and survive anything anymore. Does riot not want them as a class?

The black cleaver stacking build that some people are doing now is arguably bruiser taken to the extreme.

In any case, numbers tuning is probably the bigger factor here rather than design choices that'd make such builds fundamentally unplayable.

I don't think it is a matter of numbers tuning anymore. Season 1 even adc's built tank items so that they could be more bruiser like. Why would you want to blow up when you could live longer and have more meaningful choices in the teamfight? They nerfed tank items, and buffed tanks as compensation. Then S3 rolled around and they buffed tanks again so that they could remove/rework tank itemization. Fast forward a few more seasons of doing this, and now you have them buffing damage while guess what? That is right buffing tank stats. Now this may seem fine, but there are those champions that just seem to slip through the cracks every time they keep making these updates.

You may have guessed where I'm going, but those champions are the bruisers. So now when most people talk about tanks, they actually mean the old S1 bruisers that could also function as tanks for teamfights. No they didn't have high cc values, but they held another important role. It was to soften the enemy team while blocking cc's. Sure they didn't always do alot, but they lived for a long time through a combination of mitigation and in combat healing. CC's lasted longer to try and shut these guys out, and if you kited with an adc you could kill them while taking minimal damage.

However, now they nolonger function, damage is so high, that even with shorter cc's they die before they are un-cc, or before they even touch the enemy champions. Which I understand is the "Juggernaut" issue, but now they nolonger feel like juggernats because they die just as quickly as everyone else. Even the tanks with their higher base stats die rather quickly.

It is nolonger a matter of tuning numbers, its a design value. It is a design value that Riot no longer cares about because it slows down the game, and that is not what the devs want.
