Targons is not a good supp item in ranked
Once upon item, the extra gold for your adc mattered a lot. Similarly, the healing mattered. But not anymore. And given, the dramatically higher income, yellow is much better.

Sadly true. For gold income the yellow is far the best though. The solution would be so simple. Give a similar penalty like the poking item, and restore the old stacking timers. Unless you use a stack to kill the minion, then you won't get new stacks for a while. This way carry would no longer able to abuse it like before the nerf, but by undoing the nerf it would be better for tanky supports. More early heal+gold. Another problem is, that later your teammates destroy minions before you could. The solution would be increasing the damage once quest complete. Like onehitting any non-super minion.
The blue also gives less gold, than yellow, but in return it helps winning the lane more. There are several reasons.

If enemy wins, then you can't really poke them. At least not without big risk, or heavy health loss which eventually leads to recall, or death. Either way you lose gold. With yellow getting the gold under turret at least is ensured.

If you win, then enemy recalls, or dies often. Which means, that unless your ADC is fast enough to get to turret you can't farm the gold.

Once lane-phase is over you may, or may not be able to hit enemy/turret often. Standing near to minions still works for yellow. This is also a problem for the health one. In midgame the teammates farm down the wave before you could use the stacks.

If you win the lane, then enemy might go defensive. Standing under, or at least close to turret, and ensuring to dodge your long-range skillshots. This gives the worst combo. Poking turret is risky, but hitting enemy is damn hard, if not impossible.
I win gold farm with yellow over 95% of the time against blue, or green. Even if i lose the lane.
