OnHit builds needed something, but Devourer wasn't it

See, thing is, in order for a damage item to be competitive with AD/Crit/Crit Damage then said damage has to be absolutely disgusting. Sated Devourer sort of disgusting. And we've all seen where that has gone. An item that's warping most of Solo while being a complete trap-option in higher level games. That isn't particularly indicative of a healthy item.

OnHit builds shouldn't be competing for raw damage output with AD/Crit/Crit Damage. That's a terrible plan. There's no good reason why two vastly different types of builds should be vying for the same turf.

What OnHit builds should be doing is not even bothering to compete on the TONS OF DAMAGE side of things. They should be offering tools like durability and utility rather than raw face-melting DPS. Yeah, they would be adding some damage. But damage should be good, but not the main attraction.

So we'll start with Devourer.

It gets to die in a fire.

Make it build out of Zeal and a Longsword. Make it a crit/ias/ad item. Give it some kind of neat passive that will make it an attractive pick to champions like Yi and Xin. Kayle can build Runeglaive just fine. Wolfy still needs a remake. Udyr is already better with Tiger-stance and Warrior.

Without Devourer fucking up itemization it would actually be possible to expand OnHit builds in a healthy fashion.

Now, in order for OnHit builds to really work, they need to synergize with each other sorta like crit does with AD. Problem is they don't. Wit's would be great for amping the damage on bork and hurricane if bork and hurricane actually did magic damage. How to fix this? Easy! Swap bork over to magic damage and convert its 25 AD into 25 base OnHit magic damage. Then make its passive let you lifesteal off all OnHit magic damage. Give Hurricane more or less the same treatment. And of course Recurve Bow itself now deals magic damage, too.

And now we just need an OnHit HP and an OnHit armor item, right?

For armor we get something totally new. We'll call it Faebane. Builds out of Warden's Mail and a Recurve bow. Booping people with basic attacks steals 5% of their base attack speed, stacking up to three times. And of course some amount of lovely OnHit magic damage.

Over on the HP side of things, Ionic Spark is resurrected! Kindlegem, Stinger, and Recurve Bow all get dumped into this monster. Every third consecutive attack against the same target (because we all know Riot loves those) releases a chain lighting that deals magic damage and applies OnHit effects on up to four enemies!

So there you go. A full array of OnHit items. And as an added bonus, bork can no longer be combined with Whisper to conjure up obscene Tank-shredding bullshit.

Thoughts?

Honestly the broken part about Devourer wasnt that it doubles On Hit effects, the broken part is that it applies to skills. If it only applied to items, then SD would actually be fine as is imo.
