Great Suggestions For Leblanc Rework (Your W Delay Idea is Bad And You Should Feel Bad)

My thoughts on the LeBlanc changes * /r/LeBlancMains

Great suggestions from /u/TSM_Final on the r/LeBlancMains subreddit

I think that there are a few key problems with LeBlanc that make her frustrating to play against. I'll list those out in a second. I have played LeBlanc quite a lot, so I'll try to outline the things that I think should be changed, and the things that shouldn't. These things make LeBlanc frustrating to play against:

  • When ahead, LeBlanc can kill you with a simple Q-R-W. This one is a really silly complaint against LeBlanc I think. There are many other champions that if able to get in close enough range (LeBlanc has to be insanely close to you to get this combo off), can one shot you just as easily. Shaco, Evelyn, Annie, Diana and Lux just to name a few). The thing is that LeBlanc is an assassin! She is meant to do that. If she couldn't do that she would be the worst pick in the game.
  • I think a more important issue than LeBlanc being able to one shot people in a bush is her range of assassination. Some combos can pick off squishes from insane range. Some examples: W-R-Q-E-W(back) and W-Q-R-E-W(back). These ones are especially annoying to play against, as you feel like you are way to far away to be killed from, and you are killed anyway. This I think needs to change. Especially the combo where you W-Q-R-E-W(back) is frustrating because she never gets close enough to hit some abilities. For example a Thresh could really outplay a LeBlanc with his flay, but not if she stays too far away.
  • LeBlanc's poke is a bit too much for how much of an assassin she is supposed to be. It's rare, but most people have seen a squishy been 100-0ed by a LeBlanc jumping under a turret and simply Q-Ring an ADC and killing them outright. Most of the time it will do ~half their health, which is a problem considering how safe it is.

-The final thing is how slippery she is. Of course she is meant to outplay people, but sometimes she doesn't even need to do that to get away. I think her W cooldown is too low for how powerful of an ability it is. Later in the game, if the LeBlanc has 40 or 45% CDR, her W is on a <6 second cooldown. She can do her damage, hourglass, and as soon as she is out of Zhonya's she can W again.

So now that I have said some of her problems, let me discuss some changes that I would like to see. First off, it is clear that she definately ISN'T overpowered. Her win rate is quite below 50%, so we can tell by that is that she doesn't need nerfs. What she does need is some changes to her abilities to make her less oppressive.

  1. Lower the range of her E, and make it thinner. This would stop some annoying long range assassinations, that the LB feels super safe doing. The classic E-W(back) where the E extends like 1000 units is cool, but it is also frustrating to play against. She should be more inclined to get into the action, or try really hard to hit her E from far away to proc her Q. I hope I explained what I mean by this well enough.
  2. This one is a bit experimental, but make her Q or Mimiced Q not be able to be proved by the other one. This would stop her being able to poke insanely well with just Q-R, without hitting her E. It wouldn't stop many normal combos. I think this could be a really good change to her.
  3. Make her W cooldown longer, maybe up to 7 or 8 seconds at 40% CDR. This might stop some infuriating getaways that don't take much skill to pull off.
  4. This one could be game changing. Make her passive not able to proc if she is hard-cced. This one is interesting, A lot of times, I would W-R-Q-E onto an ADC, only to get Thresh hooked mid W. This is very hard to pull off as the Thresh, so he should be rewarded for doing it. However, as his team tries to blow me up, I pop my invisible and they cannot target me. Then the CC ends and I can TP back to my W and get out alive. This can be really frustrating as the Thresh, and something I could see being a healthy change.
  5. Take some damage out of her Q and R, and put it into her E. This might be able to "stretch" out her burst window effectively, while still maintaining her bursty play style. However if you decide to change both her E and her mimicked E, maybe stretch her W bounce back window up to 5 or 5.5 to make it so you can still go back after hitting both E's.
  6. Whatever you do, DO NOT put in a delay for her W bounce back. You know the uproar that was caused when you put in the Zed ultimate changes. It feels so awkward when a change like that happens, and would leave the LeBlanc feeling a bit helpless whenever she W'ed. Of course she needs to feel punished if she makes a mistake by W'ing into a bad scenario, but it is not a good idea to have her just stand there for a moment while she waits for her W to come back up. She needs to feel snappy, not slow and clunky.

Of course you guys have some other changes you have thought about that could still be put on her, but I think that mine would be more for the healthiness of the game, and less about her raw numbers that needs tweaking (Although she might need some number buffs if these are enacted). I'm sorry if this seemed a bit ramble, I really don't want my favorite champion to be ruined. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a nerf from hell.
