Upcoming Quinn Changes

So I get that Quinn is just not in-line with other ADC's, in terms of power, but she had a unique identity with Tag Team. In live, she's a utility marksman, who really only uses R so she can execute - and that's if she's performing well. On release, I was very excited to play a transforming ADC, and while Quinn was just shy of having a true mode change, it was fun to swap to Valor for mobility, crazy off-builds, and execute shenanigans. While I understand that it can be difficult to balance a modal champion, I feel like the upcoming changes to her R remove what made her unique in exchange for (hopefully) more reliable gameplay. We already have an ADC with a speed ult, and a few ADCs are strong roamers... so how is this change giving her a unique niche or increasing variety? On the other hand, maybe it'll be worth losing Valor, if Quinn performs better... but also losing the blind? I do not have high hopes. It all sounds like a massive nerf to a champ who already performs poorly, but hey, you'll get to move SO FAST! (which might be relevant when they hit Teleport? Who thought this was a good idea? Gimme something, here, Riot.

Quinn performs well top and mid already

the problem is riot wants to treat her like an ADC when it'd have been better off for everyone to balance her as a top lane assassin

rework was 100% unnecessary tbh

id rather have seen her as a jungler. she has the kit for it.

they just took the most boring route possible by turning her into a run of mill bot lane adc. her new ult is boring aswell. literally all she needed was some better synergy with triforce and steraks and maybe some minor tweaks to her passive to make her a real jungler.

not to mention that she will be anoying beyond belief when it comes to splitpushing.

what they should have done:

  • auto attack range reduced to 400 to 425 (necessary with the stronger passive to keep her in check in lane)
  • harrier: cooldown increased to 8 seconds (necessary with the extra proc on her q)
  • harrier: cooldown decreased by attack speed (5 sec minimum)
  • harrier: scales off total ad (combined with the q, useful on the first clear in the jungle)
  • blinding assault: applies harrier
  • tag team: valors base ad is increased by 25%

maybe some base stat adjustments like health/lvl growth to compensate for the decreased auto range

the last change would make item 3078 item 3053 more efficient items on her, making her a bit more healthy to fight in melee, without making her a worse lane bully at range. the extra sheen proc also helps with her assassination attempts on squishies.

those would be all the changes she needed.

it would reinforce her role as a solo lane/jungle anti-adc/fighter. shifting her base stats around just enough to let her itemize accordingly.

quinns ideal build should look something like this: Quinn item 3111 item 3078 item 3072 item 3035 item 3153 item 3053

i mean i guess

she's much more interesting as an assassin, since she can switch between defensive play (requires good positioning to not vault yourself into a bad situation) and offensive play (whittling you down with harrier procs until she's ready to go in with tag team and finish you off)

for some reason though riot decided a falconer should be getting picked up by her bird?? like, the first thing that would immediately come to mind is a scout-type champion, which would kind of denote a focus on utility when her most important combat utility got removed for no reason other than riot deemed it "unhealthy" (and the boards sheep quickly picked up on that and are now parroting it everywhere), and it kind of makes sense she'd be an assassin away

rework feels like a slap in the face after all we wanted was bugfixes.

This. I've only seen Quinn successful in top in a few niche cases, myself, but yeah... idk why they're gutting her like this.

she isn't -gutted- she's just being put into a much more general (and therefore much less interesting) niche

The main issue with Quinn was that she was a very specific pick; it was very difficult to teamfight as her without essentially just being a kamikaze, so she was usually best picked against teams she can easily assassinate without much risk (usually splitpushers, which just kind of makes the rework redundant, but she was also superb against low-CC carries since they can't stun her and run away/counter-burst) or with a team that let her take advantage of her own splitpushing power (she's very good at it)

but this wasn't a bad thing at all; it was a specific, very niche role. that's fine

I kind of agree with this. However I find that she is a really good team fighter if you fight the right opening. With the relatively squishy meta we are in right now. As a secondary form of engagement she can easily execute 2 - 3 carries almost instantly. Its aweesomme.

She worked fine everywhere (and honestly her only problem was in top lane where she was too oppressive). She didn't need a rework at all.

There is a difference between "works fine" and being a good pick. And I must not be watching/playing the same games as all of you, because it's been a long time since I've seen a truly successful Quinn in any lane but top.

They've said they're positioning her to be taken midland, where her roaming is going to be absolutely insane. Ganks for days.

They're also removing the thing that makes her current form potent in mid. These power shifts will make it hard to assassinate people, which would make her a bruiser i guess? but even still if she's behind she most likely won't be doing much. I love playing Quinn mid as an assassin and she really doesn't need this rework. If they really do want to rework her, they should have her assassin playstyle in mind. Not a marskman. Lets be honest here. She's a much better assassin. Also no. She shouldn't be a jungler. I feel like having a heavy ad champ in the jungle will throw a balance of teams off. Unless you have a tanky ap in the midlane, a tank in the top and a tank support (which almost never happens now). It's the same problem I have with kindred right now. It just throws good team balance wayy off.

Quinn loses her blind in exchange for a mini execute every 2-5 seconds.

Silver lining. The changes might not be all bad, but it feels like they're stripping away what makes her unique to "add variety"(?) idk
